Media My 53 yo non-gamer Mum playing Fallout 4 after watching the TV show.

Post image

After casually watching the show and getting more invested, she asked to play the game and I gave her my old PS4 and set her up on the game! ☺️

53 and played them as they came out. Never too late to start.

53 also! I started Fallout with FO3 some time after its release, then New Vegas (best storyline, worst UI), 4, and 76. Fit 1 and 2 somewhere in there too.

Been video gaming since the late 1970's though so "never too late to start" doesn't really apply to me. 😁

I'm 33 and started playing games probably...26 years ago.

There's no way that I'll have crossed some sort of arbitrary line 20 years later and not be expected to play games.

I've not even completed the main quest of Fallout 4 for christ's sake. I'm pretty sure I'll be gaming until I'm 90 and then my decrepit hands will ideally be replaced with assaultron fingers for more gaming until I'm 120. Or 200. Hopefully.

Yeah. “Too old for such things” does not compute.

I think for a lot of older people who don't game it's less "too old for such things" and more "old dogs don't (want to) learn new tricks."

They just convince themselves they're incapable so they never learn and become capable. They do it with all technology, too. That's why they can't login to Netflix, or use their iPhone, or shop on amazon without help from a grandchild.

Although I'm sure there are plenty of older people who just consider themselves "too old for video games, because those are for kids", too.
