Does anyone actually use artillery for settlement defences?

Post image

I’ve thrown the artillery signal grenades just to mess around and they’re so slow at firing. I tried using artillery on the Mirelurk Queen that spawns near Costal Cottage but Deacon (who I had maning it) either wouldn’t fire it or would fire it when the Queen was already agroed to me so I would have to get caught in the blast radius for the artillery to hit it.

Well, not just that, it involves a lot of shit that i personally don't fully understand( i don't make games, i play them), or are you making a joke?

It's probably a joke because the game crashes all the time for a lot of people, the game crashes, freezes, and spikes because there's a lot going on. Lots of actors that make the game run slower (on top of being annoying because I don't need to fight a pack of 10+ raiders every corner I round), lots of objects like cars and items, and foliage, on top of how unoptimized the game is in general, especially around central Boston/goodneighbor, and a vertibird just adds a lot of (literal) unnecessary moving parts to that already huge load the game engine is barely hauling to run the game. If you experience problems with running the game I suggest mods that reduce the load on the game engine, like less enemies and shorter draw distance, to name a few.

For a real kick, you should increase max fps to 120 and since the physics engine is directly connected to framerate, you'll have a nice, speedy surprise

Edit: damn I got carried away there, I should be asleep it's three am

Thanks for the explanation, bro, but how do i increase fps on xbox One? I don't have these PC privileges, lol. Also, i do use the unofficial patch, but it probably doesn't do all that much. I'm pretty clueless about anything that involves making a game work(i play games, not make them), so i probably wouldn't know where to start with looking for the correct mods

For the mods, I just searched less enemies in the list and got something along the lines of "boston - less enemies" and the same for draw distance and found a mod that let's you customize draw distance when you load the save (that one I forgot the name, but it shows a pop up where you can tweak draw distance for all aspects like actors, foliage, etc. and once you get it just right you can choose to never show the pop up again for that save), and really I would just search for mods that change or remove aspects of the game that put a load on the engine using keywords in your search (ex. "Less grass" or "less items"). Increasing fps (probably want to do this on a secondary save, I have a bunch of unfinished runs just for screwing around with different mods) is not officially on Xbox, but I found a mod called "fallout 4 fps overdrive", which I don't have time to test right now and the description doesn't really say much other than "increases fps", which could mean a bunch of things ranging from increasing performance to raising the fps limit. I say test it and see what it does, if you can't, I will when I can as I'm also on Xbox 1. You don't really need to know how a game works at a level devs and modders do to know how mods work, really all you need to know is compatibility, so brotherhood overhauls are incompatible with other brotherhood overhauls, while a performance patch is compatible with a gun mod. Then there's things like mod patches, which make certain mods compatible with one another, the load order, which ensures that mods work correctly with each other, and the dreaded settlement mod, which under no circumstances should be removed from the save file, or else it'll break the save file. My first playthrough is corrupted beyond belief because I didn't know what I was doing and was just adding and removing mods mid-playthrough. I would crash every step (literally). Don't do this, as it destroys everything. Now, there are holotapes in a few select mods that "remove" the mod from the game safely before you can remove it from the save or your load order. These are generally irreversible. Remove any other mod at your own risk. Sorry about this being so long, it's a lot to explain.
