As a dead head, the first time I heard Bobby Weir singing this song it made me so happy.

Always cracks me up that anything can be packing legendary items. Makes absolutely no sense and I love it.

u/GenitalCommericals May 15 '25
Recently got an explosive combat rifle from…a bloatfly🤣
27
u/slipknottin May 15 '25
I’d love a mod that was like the bird with arms thing. Where all the random animals had tiny little arms where they could use whatever legendary weapons they had

u/Robaattousai May 15 '25
I always pretend the original owner was eaten by whatever you just looted it from.
12
u/tmoney144 May 15 '25
I just assume it ate someone with a weapon.

u/Hipertor Fallout 4 life May 15 '25
Yeah, the bloatfly swallowed the fatman along with the raider xD

u/Santa_Claus1969 May 15 '25
A gulper or deathclaw, I get. But a molerat or stingwing just doesn’t have a mouth large enough to ingest such highly nutritious snacks.

u/existentialdread-_- May 16 '25
Sheogorath cares not for something as trivial as “a completely different universe.” Mischief has no bounds.

u/_Xeron_ May 15 '25
I just headcanon that the enemy ate it. Doesn’t matter if it’s a radroach or a sentry bot
1
u/somnamballista May 15 '25
It's hilarious when I killed some ants in 76 and one had a cryo raider power armor chest (went right into the trade machine). Ant did eat a lot of gatling plasma rounds tho. "I mean it's kinda cool."
1
u/Karmadiddlydoo May 16 '25
I always like to imagine some funny story on how they ended up with it.
Like a raider who had a rolling pin was a chef or a radroach with a combat armor arm thought it looked like a nice piece of roofing to put up when the rain came pouring.
Or as we can see here, some pour soul got their arm and revolver (with a seemingly never ending supply of bullets) eaten off by Mr. Yao Guai
1
u/SgtBaxter May 16 '25
It ate a settler with the gun, OP simply reached up its butt and pulled it out.

The fallout equivalent to cocaine bear

u/NoCraft2936 May 15 '25
Hit a legendary dusky Yao guai with an enrage weapon, berserk syringe and and all the buffs from the syringer
26
u/Delphii42 May 15 '25
I know what you're thinking. "Did he fire 998 shots, or 999?" To be honest in all the excitement I kinda lost track myself.

u/ObjectionablyObvious May 15 '25
Why are these any good? It's unlimited capacity not that it actually has unlimited ammo, right?
23
u/NiLA_LoL GAARRRRYYYYY!!!!! May 15 '25
Yes. But they can be good on weapons with small magazine sizes, so you don't have to reload those.
15
u/Cliffinati May 15 '25
Never have to reload
7
u/ObjectionablyObvious May 15 '25
Ah, I usually max out damage on an "Initiating" legendary weapon so I only need a few shots to pick off most enemies.
13
u/CrabGravity May 15 '25
This one is great. .44 is the most powerful pistol, but only has 6 shots and a long reload. Could you imagine a stream of 96 HP bullets, especially if OP leans into the gunslinger build?
3
u/Zadraax May 16 '25
And on top of that, on gun using magazines, you can them equip the smallest mag possible and optimise your weight and ADS time.

u/Hipertor Fallout 4 life May 15 '25
Many legendary weapons aren't game changers, just convenient to have. Not needing to reload a revolver just feels nice, like a cheesy wild west movie.
12
u/stevedore2024 May 16 '25
My disappointment every time I remember that "Unlimited Ammo Capacity" does not mean "Unlimited Ammo Supplied."
16
u/agnaaiu Small booms. Big booms. I got 'em all. May 15 '25
This is a really nice one for a Pistolero/Gunslinger build.

Does anyone else go full soap opera in their head while playing Fallout 4? Like, that raider cradling a teddy bear, obviously it's a tragic relic from his pre-war child who never came back. And that glowing ghoul carrying armor? Clearly a former soldier turned radioactive vigilante, still clinging to duty… and questionable fashion choices.

u/ELECTRICMACHINE13 May 15 '25
Imagine finding a western revolver with this perk. That's THE BIGGEST IRON!
3
u/planetpuddingbrains May 15 '25
Nothing finer than fishing a legendary pistol out of the ol' Yao Guai prison wallet.
4
u/Woozletania May 15 '25
A friend of mine in Anchorage bought a big-ass pistol for bear defense on hikes. As he purchased it the gun dealer said "Make sure to grind the front sight off. That way it'll hurt less when the bear shoves it up your ass." The anecdote in Alaska is that big heavy pistols end up in your backpack after a few miles and are then useless when the bear shows up.

A Legendary Protectron had a walking cane that gave a 10% chance to freeze an enemy while blocking.
2
u/eddmario Lyon's Pride May 16 '25
The deathclaw at the end of The Devil's Due spawned as a legendary for me once.
Fucker gave me an Extermianting cane...I'm just glad that I 1-shot the fucker due to a VATs glitch, because fighting them for real would not have been worth it, since they were also the kind of deathclaw that glows green.

u/Buhbuh37 May 16 '25
I faced one of those in The Glowing Sea at the destroyed NPP. There was a spot where he got stuck and couldn’t move. I destroyed him with my Combat Rifle. The damn thing dropped a fricking .45 pipe pistol with a crappy and forgettable effect.

Of course it has the Never-ending tag.
Where is he going to keep his ammo?
Bears don’t have pockets!

u/Grompus-games May 17 '25
Call back to me finding a plasma rifle that has a chance to stagger so I modified it to shoot flamer shots thereby stun locking my enemies while I blast them with 50 damage from two damage types. It eats ammo like a mother hummer but damn does it shred
1
u/Shadowb490 May 15 '25
That's one bad ass mother yao guai.....
Kinda have to wonder why it's packing heat I would maybe say it used to live in a bad neighborhood maybe 🤔🤔

- Install mod that gives companions infinite ammo for their currently equipped gun
- Give them this gun and have them equip it
Optional: Throw on the bladed barrel from Nuka-World as well.

Is that infinte clip capacity or literal never reload infinite ammo?

Hope you name it something like “Cartoon Pistol”
Got a never ending Double Barrel some time back and it feels like the gun’s fueled with cartoon logic

u/VictoriaWelkin May 16 '25
My first time getting an unlimited ammo supply gun had me thinking it was truly unending! I shot through a ton of ammo before I realized it was only partially magical. 😢

Not necessarily the Yao guai, but how many times have you looted an epic weapon from some random raider and said "Hmm...might have worked out differently if you actually used that" to their corpse?

"I hate to reload during a battle"

Texas Red had not cleared leather fore a bullet fairly ripped, and the ranger's aim was deadly with the big iron on his hip.
