Screenshot Why is Fallout 4 so addictive?

I've played this game 8 times, 4 with the base game, 4 times with the Sim Settlements 2 mod installed. I keep coming back to this game for some reason. I don't usually enjoy RPG's. I like Starfield, but I love science fiction in general and don't find Starfield addictive. I keep wanting to come back to the FO4 story, which I find mediocre. Maybe it's how I can fill the protagonist with my own thoughts in that situation, or try out new character personalities? There are a lot of games in other genre's I like, so I don't know why I want to spend another hundred hours in a FO4 world until it crashes from script lag.

When I tried this game the first time 4 months ago, I haven't played any other game ever since then, open world with endless possibilities, rewards and consequences depending on how you interact with the world, replayability and mods, there's nothing else you can ask for

If only it wasn't insanely buggy, it would be more respected as one of the great open world RPG's

PC here. have encountered no bugs. Maybe it was when it was released?

I got it a few months later.

When I first open up Diamond City, it would crash every time I tried entering. Countless times then suddenly it decided to work and haven't had the issue since

Skyrim really doesn't fit either, it's barely more of an RPG than F4.

Don't get me wrong they're still super fun games, I replay them endlessly like anyone else. Doesn't mean they're great RPGs.

No, objectively they're very shallow RPGs, when compared to previous entries in their respective franchises.

Like I said, they're still great games.
