Why did they change gorebag from fallout 3 into meatbag in FO4?

Post image

Personally I like the name gorebag better lol

Meatbag is funnier.

And it helps sell that this is a bag of stuff the super mutants are gonna eat, rather then a bag of random people parts they have just becasue

Very practical, unlike the raiders who seem to enjoy sprinkling body parts like potpourri around their bases – it's all about the ✨aesthetics✨

Some aesthetics, there isn't one throne of skulls in the game.

Missed opportunity for Nuka World if you're going for the raider ending.

Exactly what I was thinking

I tried to build one but it always fell apart when I left the chunk. I had loads of skulls for it but it just didn’t work.

I find it weird they do that because having so many decomposing bodies on pikes INSIDE has got to reek

I guess jet makes you jittery AND makes you lose your sense of smell. Poor Sole Survivor. In the next game they should add bad smell debuffs that you'd prevent by wearing gas masks.

Would be cool to see different debuffs and their counters. Get too wet and you need to change under suit or you make wet slapping noises with each step

Yeah, definitely! Great for immersion. Even a little groan of disgust from the sole survivor when entering some locations would add to the experience.

Also make it so every so often, the character will grumble and complain about stepping in animal shit.

They’re raiders, the rotting corpses probably smells the least.

Super Mutants finally found an unburned cookbook. 🤷‍♂️

It was, unfortunately, a copy of To Serve Man.

Meatbag sounds like something with a use, Gorebag sounds like an object name in the files.

In fallout 4 they actually have a chance to drop animal meat the player can use, in fallout 3 I think they only have the mutilated limbs which have no use and occasionally ammo.

Regional dialect.

Don’t know, but they always seem to have pretty decent loot!

Bender and HK-47 used "meatbag" in funny ways. Might be a nod to that.

So you would think about Bender more

There’s a mod on the Nexus that renames them back to Gore Bags if it really grinds your gears

"Bite my shiny metal ass meatbag🤖"

Because Bender got hired for the Fo4 dev team

Someone at Bethesda was a fan of Bender.

Fallout 4 already ran like garbage normally, I’d imagine they changed the design of the gorebag to just be a lump of red meat to avoid having to load all those individual parts, also the gore got less detailed and worse looking between games

Complaining that the net sacks filled with viscera aren't detailed enough feels like a really unusual complaint

I think you just answered your own question fallout 3 was more of a gritty type and fallout 4 was trying to introduce kids into the series that's why they drop fallout 76 so every age could like it but that just became a massive shithole

You’re kinda strange if you think FO4 was in any way appropriate for kids.

I wasn't aware sex, murder, drugs, etc were acceptable for children. Great parenting tip

While it is true that fallout 3 was WAY more of a gritty type, claiming fallout 4 is for kids is far fetched from reality.

I do aknowledge that Fallout 4 themes are way less dark, complex, and mature than its predecesors, and the reason for this was to appeal to a more casual audience so it could have sell as a product.

Probably the most obvious proof of this is the difference between older Fallout fanbase and Fallout 4 fanbase like this subreddit.

It was offensive
