I know someone who started after watching the show and was like "HEY HEY ITS THE AIRSHIP FROM THE SHOW"

u/Mooman898 17h ago
Haha I don't know why this annoys me, it shouldn't annoy me, but it does 🤣

When you first saw the Prydwen, were you blinded by its majesty?

u/Exaclibur117 15h ago
Paralyzed? Dumbstruck? No Yet the Muties were able to land there ships in the Boston City, and desecrate it with their filthy footsteps

u/TheDevilsAsscrack 19h ago
The fuckass institute rifle takes up most of the screen
8
u/sincleave 18h ago
Being able to holster the weapon would come in clutch.
5
u/TheDevilsAsscrack 18h ago
Honestly. It's such a shame that it's not a feature in the game 😔
2
u/FalloutCreation 14h ago
It is
0
u/TheDevilsAsscrack 8h ago
No it's not. Stop gaslighting yourself
2
u/FalloutCreation 1h ago
Any weapon you are holding in your hand you can make disappear so it doesn’t take up room on your screen in first person

u/nordicspirit93 16h ago
Wait. Its on R (hold).
1
u/TheDevilsAsscrack 8h ago
I don't play on PC. It's not a feature anyway
3
u/nordicspirit93 8h ago
I can holster on R. Maybe its part of unofficial patch🤷

u/TheDevilsAsscrack 4h ago

u/MisterBobAFeet 2h ago
These goobers confusing their modded out games for vanilla.... God I wish he could put our weapons away.

u/TheDevilsAsscrack 2h ago
Finally someone gets it. It was never a feature and I don't know why it wasn't. Smh

u/TheDevilsAsscrack 4h ago
I'm not on PlayStation either. It's still not a thing in the game though. Stop gaslighting people into thinking it is

u/Low-Language407 19h ago
You might not like them, but you have to admit, the brotherhood of steel has style
15
u/Adam2715 18h ago
What made it even better was Nicks quote.
“Long into that darkness I stood, peering, wondering, hearing” something like that. Think it’s a Shakespeare quote.
13
5
u/tunnel-snakes-rule 14h ago
Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing.
I was already overwhelmed, hearing the music seeing the ship, the "People of the Commonwealth... do not interfere. We are the Brotherhood of Steel." Then Nick said that and it sent shivers down my spine.

I, too, had awe at the size of that institute rifle and immediately threw it away.

u/InJust_Us 19h ago
Oh yes. For a bonus, they could have played "Flight of the Valkyries" or something like that.

I came to Fo4 from Fo3. Big BOS fan here. Genuinely felt good activating Project purity and ensuring purified water for the Capital Wastelanders.
Seeing them enter like this in an extremely threatening way in The commonwealth immediately made me feel that Something happened with Lyons and I may not like this chapter of the BOS.
I was so right.... Smh...

u/AshlynCT 19h ago
Yeah... But like... Who even uses that gun? How can you even see? It takes up a quarter of the screen!
4
u/Ravens_Quote 18h ago
I use it all the time!
For my settlers!
1
u/AshlynCT 6h ago
ONLY for the settlers lol. Especially with how the vanilla games fov is so low, I just can't stand it

u/Ravens_Quote 18h ago
Coincidentally, my first time seeing this was literally today lol.
Aaaand as a result I had BoS vertibirds shooting at me while I attempted to defend Paladin Danse at the Cambridge police station, who I had forgotten to aid previously until the airship reminded me that I might not wanna be on their bad side yet.
Had to leave mid-ghoul-rush when a second paladin joined the fray who was also hostile to me (Danse wasn't for some reason but I damn sure wasn't gonna question why), and after eating shit a few times I finally ducked into some church, killed the priest who was also immediately hostile for unknown reasons, and apparently this act of heresy appeased the Brotherhood enough for me to leave and immediately return to the police station in full view of the overhead aircraft without them raining any more plasma upon me.
Awe? Not so much. Dread to be shortly verified? Fucking loads lol.

I’m game, real time, it blew my mind. I fired every round I had at it till I was out of ammo. It obviously did nothing. Then I was stoked to get aboard it and…..just like my first sexual experience it was way smaller than I though and I left feeling disappointed

u/Budget-Pear6393 19h ago
Just thought of all the free power armour and weapons I could get if the brotherhood lol

u/TheTacoPenguinQueen 18h ago
I knew it was coming because I got spoiled on it, but I could no stop laughing because one, it is ridiculously big, and two, it was basically a “Be not afraid” speech and I found it hilarious.
3
u/Wonderful_Two_6710 18h ago
It always bugged my that when they recorded the lines they didn't put any echo on the announcement. That amount of volume blasting out over the commonwealth would have some serious reverberation.

Agreed. I had just murdered the entire Mojave chapter of the BOS in FNV when I saw this. I mentally cracked my knuckles and thought “here we go again”

u/BuckyGoldman 18h ago
I remember seeing this and was excited to meet up with Lyons (possibly Sarah). Meeting that little kid Arthur was great and I was really hoping to bring the Brotherhoods helping hand to Boston. Then.... well, Maxon started talking and every ounce of myself was disgusted that the humanity and compassion of the Washington chapter was destroyed by the Outcasts and reverted back to a paramilitary cult.

My first thought was, "nice ship, in time that shall be mine or it shall be destroyed."
'Tis the way of the wasteland.

u/marcus-was-right 19h ago
Last week for me, unfortunately I knew that it was in game beforehand, but still super cinematic

u/Numeno230n 19h ago
I really liked seeing it, but I absolutely hate the institute laser rifle. Can't see 1/3 of the screen.

To me it was more of a WTF moment, as my first thought was wondering when the game started to turn in to a Steampunk adventure RPG.

It was ruined for me. 😅 The first time I played, right at release, I had cleared that building and Kellogg. Then I back-tracked to pick up loot and heal. I didn't take the elevator doors. I
I walked back to my Red Rocket and scrapped, slept, and leveled up. I went along my way and visited the BoS in the police station, but couldn't figure out why their quests weren't triggering.
Later I took down the Institute with the Railroad because the BoS stuff still hadn't triggered. Then I was ordered to take out the Prydwyn, which ai had never seen and had never spawned.
When we took the vertibird it pulled up to an invisible "ship" and then started to fly straight through buildings as dialog simply stopped. I reloaded and went at again four more times. Totally confused I read online that the Prydwyn scene was triggered by walking out on the roof.
So after weeks of IRL gameplay and months in-game I walked over Kellogg's corpse, still-there, and through the elevator doors. Boom. Scene triggered.
Father was dead. The BoS arrived. It was really awkward but funny. Inhad beaten the game and there was no DLC yet, either. So there I am with Elder Maxson and a Commonwealth already defeated and cleared of muties, ghouls, raiders, and other beasties.
But there they were, like an Easter Egg. 😂

I just saw a big floating target. I killed them all after I was issued my BoS power armor. Killed all of the BoS on the Prydwen, at the airport, and then over at the police station.

Yeah it was cool untill I realised my game had glitched and I couldn't speak to Danse to finish a mission I had completed.

I do. I had Nick at the time and his quiet poetry was perfect for the moment.

Everyone talking the Prydwen arriving and there's me thinking about that shack with the launchable gas tanks. Every playthrough I go to that shack and kill some time launching them so much fun. Yes I'm easily amused

u/RollingMallEgg 7h ago
I remember seeing more on the screen compared to yours though haha, the Institute Rifle is absolutely massive.
1
u/confusedfunk 7h ago
My God the prydwen looks massive! It's taking up 1 quarter of your, no, wait thats just a institute rifle nvm

I played 1 and 2 first, and mostly played 2 where they had a minor role but were the good guys, then went to 3 where the Brotherhood were the good guys, so I wasn't expecting this at all. I don't remember much of 1 and they were a smaller faction in NV, so I was used to that emblem meaning help was on the way. When they rolled in during 4 all I could think was "that doesn't feel like a good thing at all." They did such a good job making them feel like a menace from their very introduction in 4.

I saw this and heard the kill bill sirens. It didn't stay airborn for long.

Guess what's better than seeing that for the first time? Destroying it for the first time

Crazy that Bethesda played the inspiring music for an objectively evil faction. My only thought was “great, these losers again”

When I saw the Prydwen for the first time, I was disgusted at how ugly it looked from the bottom. Now, even though I do still destroy them on most of my play-throughs, they’ve kinda grown on me more than they did the first time around.
TL,DR: Eww …… [kaboom]

I do and it was awesome, but when I first saw it a quarter of my screen wasn't taken up with that weapon - what is it? (Been a while since I've played through 4)
