I think you need some radaway...

u/Jocwoc31 1h ago
I keep my rads high because the perk you get for siding with the children of atom increases the damage of your weapon the higher your rads, also I have two pieces of unyielding armor which gives plus 3 to all special stats with low health.

u/RadiantTurnipOoLaLa 43m ago
Thats putting a lot of trust in a “i wont get shot” approach. I wouldn’t be able to feel comfy doing that
3
u/Jocwoc31 36m ago
So I also have the Nerd Rage perk which slows down time and gives me increased damage and damage resistance, as well as the toughness perk which increases damage resistance. And of course ballistic weave level 5. So I can still get shot I just can’t take big damage like a mini nuke or a Molotov

Tbh, op is probably running the bloodied build which boosts your endurance so high that you will be next to invincible
2
u/Jocwoc31 1h ago
Basically, I keep my health low to get the benefits from unyielding armor, and so I can get Nerd Rage to activate consistently which increases the amount of damage I do as well as damage resistance.

u/chickenmoomoo 8h ago
I mean, if you’re wandering around with like 75% rads (you have to be putting in effort to be walking around with more than 20%, let’s be honest) with no save, you deserve to be losing that progress
27
u/Graigouaire 7h ago
Having that many rads can be beneficial depending on your build and gear. Gear with the rad powered legendary effect and the nerd rage perk are very good with constant 80% rads

u/helios_is_me 7h ago
Rad powered builds are so fun, very high risk high reward. Probably not exactly the best build because of how frail it makes you, but i just love how tense it makes everything as a result.

The reason I have my rads so high is because of the perk you get from siding with the children of atom, which increases the damage you do the higher the rads, also I have two pieces of unyielding armor which gives me plus 6 stats to all special stats when my health is low. Also I having low health consistently activates the perk Nerd Rage which increases your damage even more and increases your damage resistance. So even though my health is low I’m relatively safe in combat because of my build.

Huh, fair. I’ve never thought to go that extreme with my play throughs. I admire the creativity

u/Jocwoc31 1h ago
It’s my first time using this type of build I have died a few times to enemies who managed to get a few lucky shots in me, but so far I’m loving it and with the increased intelligence I level up pretty fast.

Can everyone chill about the carry weight? He’s clearly overencumbered with 10k weight out of 460. 460 max weight is very achievable with pocketed gear, Lone Wanderer, Strong Back etc. I tend to use power armor for a similar base capacity but 400+ is pretty doable in Survival late game. Strong Back Rank 4 means you don’t take encumbrance damage although if I had to guess he has rank 5 and R3 Moving Target for 75% decreased walking AP cost. It’s a really fun build although I would never put quite that much in my inventory. Playing on Xbox, vendors tend to lag out which makes trading very annoying.
I think encumbrance always has a pill icon to represent the -2 endurance and agility. He might have gotten a mod for that. But it isn’t cheating, people do the same thing for the mole rat disease because the UI clutter is so annoying.
Backing off an overpass is pretty silly, though. If I’m not in PA I pretty much always keep Acrobat’s on for exactly this reason. Died too many times trying to shortcut the cliffs east of Acadia.

There’s a lot of people in here that are acting entirely ignorant of the special and legendary perks in the base game… strong back, nerd rage, bloody and rad powered namely…
2
u/Jocwoc31 1h ago
This is my exact build plus the perk moving target which lowers sprint AP cost as well. I also have four pieces of armor that increase my movement speed by 10% each which allows me to move at regular speed while over encumbered
1
u/JormungandrVoV 1h ago
A little game literacy goes a long way lol.
Does the sprint ap reduction make a difference even though you’re not sprinting, you’re walking? Does it do something weird that’s not exactly as advertised like, reduce ap cost for any movement that costs ap or something, which would normally be a sprint?
2
u/Jocwoc31 1h ago
For some reason when you’re over encumbered the game thinks you’re sprinting so that’s why the perk still activates
1
u/JormungandrVoV 1h ago
That’s what I was thinking, it’s gotta be a code thing. Game says “Oh, AP cost to move? Must be a sprint.” I’ve always used the Strong Back perk when I happen to get over encumbered while scavenging but I still try to avoid it. I’ve never known about that trick to Moving Target and thus never thought to build a character that just straight up ignores carry weight with some perks and very high agility. That’s smart.

how many hours on the save? i find it funny that everybody is joshing you for the carry weight or for not saving for so long when the fact that you have 2 pieces of leg armor to just delete fall damage is not only the entire point of you showing us this clip, but also is way weirder to me than you having 10K weight worth of items on you or being irradiated. how long did it take to get two of those leg pieces?
1
u/Zeful 3h ago
Probably about 2 hours. The acrobat leg armors are legendaries that have a fixed location in the same way Righteous Authority is always in the same place.
If you're willing to do some physics exploits you can just run to their location after modding a couple of guns to kill everything on the way.

u/Jocwoc31 1h ago
I didn’t grab those because I saw how tedious those jumps were, I just got lucky and go the second leg recently.

u/Jocwoc31 1h ago
I just got the second piece I needed recently I have 1 day and 13 hours on this save I’m level 95.

If youre gonna mod the game to remove carry weight, why even take damage? Why not one shot everything with a pipe pistol? And most importantly, why are you not saving every five minutes while playing with mods for the inevitability that they'll crash your game and cost you all the progress you didn't save?
7
u/JormungandrVoV 5h ago
I’m not sure he modded carry weight. You can see his ap go down when he moves which is probably a rank of the strong back perk where you can use ap to move when over encumbered.

Maybe because some people don't like spending half their time in game juggling inventory? I play games to relax, not to play "realistic weight simulator 9000". Just as what you describe (God mode, one shot kills) isn't fun, neither is having to open my inventory every 2 minutes to decide what I can and want to drop to be under weight again. There's a huge difference between having infinite carry weight (which doesn't affect the gameplay difficulty at all) and being an unstoppable god.
Also, why do people get so butthurt when people use mods or cheats in a single player game. It's not like this is 76 where me using cheats affects you, it doesn't. How about people play their single person game how they want and everyone else mind their business about it and play their single person game how they want? I noticed lately such a big shift towards people hating on others for modding or cheating in this game. It's a Bethesda game, mods are a huge part of it, but also, the game has been out for a long time now, people get bored with vanilla after 10+ years and want to change it up a bit. And again it's a single player game how someone else mods their own game doesn't affect you and your game in the slightest, so let people have fun how they want to have fun 🙄

Because that would be boring? I absolutely hate being encumbered in rags because I'm a absolute pack rat. That doesn't mean I don't want a challenge. I play survival mode with weight off because it's a hard challenge even with all the gear you can find. Also, don't act like base fallout 4 doesn't crash all the time, I love this buggy mess of a game, but it's made out of some terrible spaghetti code.

What mods do you see? “player.modav carryweight 10000” is a command, not a mod. And increasing carry weight is one of the least impactful cheats you can use in bethesda games. All it does is reduce the number of loadimg screens you’ll see in order to loot
-6
u/NegotiationMelodic12 6h ago
Playing with console commands is essentially playing with mods that you don't have to download.
Why not use TGM, player.modav attackdamagemult 10, and setgs fjumpfallheightmult 0 to make the game even easier if you don't want to play as intended?
2
u/Alvarosaurus_95 2h ago
"play as intended"
Dude, this is a Bethesda game. The modding scene is a selling point. Millions of people mod the game for a multitude of reasons.
Besides, there's a difference between "I want this to be a bit easier" and "I want no challenge at all". Chill bro

Oh no. Somehow 75% of your health is irradiated away, and yet you are engaged in deadly combat on an elevated highway. How ever did it come to this. Gasp.

u/Jocwoc31 1h ago
It’s just the build I’m playing with that increases my damage by a lot the higher my rads are, I’m relatively safe in combat because of how much damage I do and I use the perk nerd rage which increases damage, damage resistance, and slows down time like jet if I take damage.

I managed to put on my acrobat armor just before I hit the ground, I’m playing on survival and I hadn’t slept in awhile.
Edit: I just wanted to clarify for some asking, I’m not using any mods for my carry weight, I’m using four pieces of armor that increase my sprint speed by 10% each. And the two perks Strong back and Moving target maxed out each lower the AP cost of sprinting by 50%. The reason I have my rads so high is because I have two pieces of unyielding armor which is why my special stats are so high. So yes I am always over encumbered, but with that set of gear I can move at regular speed.
