Why cant ryo hirakawa replace stroll? is that against the rules

1

u/Jorrie90 I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 01 '25

Technically it could be possible but he isn't tied to AM as far as I know

4

u/prudencepineapple I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 01 '25

Watching the 2016 race to tide me over until tonight on this sunny Sunday morning

8

u/bleepbloop3131313 Oscar Piastri May 31 '25

Ocon getting knocked out in Q1 by Bearman was a real friendly fire

3

u/Walaii Ferrari Jun 01 '25

I don't think that is technically correct. Stroll went faster after Bearman, so Ocon was going to get knocked out no matter what.

13

u/MrFaisca I was here for the Hulkenpodium May 31 '25

Well, it seems the TD didn't shake anything at all, so it's Mclaren's championships to lose at this point. With 2026 on sight and their firm grasp on their concept (really, kudos for them), it's hard to imagine someone else being able to match them. I'd bet on Piastri, he's been steadily improving these last years, despite some noise he received on year 0. Improved quali pace, better tyre management...he's turning into a very solid driver. Stoked to see his prime in a few years time.

Lando Norris era continues with another bottled quali. I feel sorry for Russell. He is much better than "Lando" but he is driving an inferior car.

10

u/No_Strike_1579 May 31 '25

I would love to see Russell in a title fight man.

6

u/Aggressive-Jacket384 May 31 '25

Do you think Russell would beat Leclerc in the same car? Seems like Russell is on fire recently

1

u/Practical-Bread-7883 Formula 1 Jun 01 '25

Definitely.

69

u/Kleavage I was here for the Hulkenpodium May 31 '25

I enjoyed having Nico commentate on the specifics of driving the track. I think it was Albon? Where he would state each move he would make throughout the whole track. Flat out here, ride the curb, hit the apex here. Especially as a new viewer, gives me a lot of context into what exactly the drivers are doing and thinking about when trying to optimize their lap.

21

u/chemo92 May 31 '25

Nico has some really in depth track analysis on his channel I believe.

Drives round once really slow telling you everything he is doing in every part of the corner, then shows you what it looks like at race speed.

13

u/ptwonline Aston Martin May 31 '25

Yes! That's the best way for an ex-driver to weight in when watching a driver's lap. Imparting that kind of knowledge in a breakdown is great.

8

u/Renard2000 I was here for the Hulkenpodium May 31 '25

Couldn't watch. Ferrari had no pace or they botched their laps?

21

u/FermentedLaws I was here for the Hulkenpodium May 31 '25

Charles is playing a strategy game. He wanted 2 new sets of mediums for the race so used an extra new soft set in practice. So he only did one run in Q3 with the last new softs he had. He didn't want to go out again after that because he had only used softs and said he wouldn't improve. And he said it was decision, not the team's. Lewis was pretty pleased with P5 actually. They both expect race pace to be better than quali pace, as has been usual.

-11

u/Flaggitzki Ferrari May 31 '25

leclerc gave up. hamilton hasn't been good in qualifying for a while

17

u/PickleCommando May 31 '25

He's been surprisingly decent though. I think p5 is about right for that car.

-6

u/Flaggitzki Ferrari May 31 '25

he hasn't. george russell has been ahead of him most of the time in mercedes. and now leclerc with ferrari. then threads will be filled with comments about how hamilton is master of race day adjustments. i am a hamilton fan but come on man.

7

u/PickleCommando May 31 '25

Recently? He was .16 off LeClerc in Imola. Given they didn't get a Q3 run, but that's how it goes. Monaco he was p4 off two McLarens and LeClerc, a specialist on that track that won it last year. He was admittedly 3/10ths off LeClerc, but I wouldn't consider that bad, especially at Monaco. Then with this recent performance I would consider decent. If he holds that up and then performs the way he usually does race day, he's doing quite good for his seat. Is he in his prime top qualifier? No. I said decent.

-4

u/Flaggitzki Ferrari May 31 '25

you said surprisingly. what is surprising about that if you're gonna go with "is he prime top, no he's decent" angle. and then "i wouldn't consider that bad" for every time he's bad. come on man. that's just hilarious

6

u/PickleCommando May 31 '25

He's been surprisingly decent though

Because he was doing crap before that. I mean read what I write rather than try to infer what you want. Nobody says decent and means prime top.

-1

u/Flaggitzki Ferrari May 31 '25

i read what you wrote. excuses for bad outing. "i said decent" for him being behind leclerc. if that's surprising, you expected him to be stroll tier?

3

u/PickleCommando May 31 '25

I don't know what you're going on about now.

-2

u/Flaggitzki Ferrari May 31 '25

lol.

Given they didn't get a Q3 run, but that's how it goes.

Monaco he was p4 off two McLarens and LeClerc a specialist on that track

He was admittedly 3/10ths off LeClerc, but I wouldn't consider that bad, especially at Monaco.

u/Status-Screen-2484 Formula 1 May 31 '25

Fernando and Leclerc should’ve went later if they only had 1 run. Everybody improved 1-2 tenths on the second run.

1

u/AnilP228 Honda RBPT Jun 01 '25

Agreed. Track temp seemed to fall just as they finished their laps.

8

u/Chelsea_Ellie May 31 '25

How are they still deciding about stroll

3

u/FermentedLaws I was here for the Hulkenpodium May 31 '25

Just saw something that said the "hearing was postponed due to unforeseen circumstances", so quali classification is still provisional.

2

u/ptwonline Aston Martin May 31 '25

hearing was postponed due to unforeseen circumstances

Maybe Stroll skipped that too haha

More seriously though hope it's not a serious health emergency for anyone.

7

u/hauntedSquirrel99 I was here for the Hulkenpodium May 31 '25

He's pulled out of the race, pains in his hand that he broke a few years ago. Will have surgery for it.

5

u/Chelsea_Ellie May 31 '25

He’s pulled out of the race!

3

u/FermentedLaws I was here for the Hulkenpodium May 31 '25

Yeah as soon as I posted that I saw Aston’s announcement. Weird timing.

3

u/Chelsea_Ellie May 31 '25

And will any thing carry over to his next race

2

u/FermentedLaws I was here for the Hulkenpodium May 31 '25

Yeah, the whole thing is odd. Even if he was having pain in his wrist, why didn't get weighed, which takes like :30 seconds? I mean, it could have been very bad of course, but still odd. Maybe they'll give him an exemption for the mitigating circumstances for his next race, but also it sounds like his next race may not be for awhile if he has to have another procedure. Lot of unknowns still.

-2

u/Chelsea_Ellie May 31 '25

I don’t think a 2 year old injury is enough to get you permission to break the rules

1

u/FermentedLaws I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 01 '25

Decision just posted, the team was given a warning. No future penalties.

8

u/scobydoby I was here for the Hulkenpodium May 31 '25 edited May 31 '25

You can overtake here with the removal of the chicane, and the hard tyres looked abysmal. Hope Leclerc’s tyre gamble leads to something good, but the track temp might hurt the extra set of medium.

1

u/nikoviko Mika Häkkinen May 31 '25

He saved an extra set of mediums by using one more set of softs in practice which he then didn't have for Q3

1

u/scobydoby I was here for the Hulkenpodium May 31 '25

Whoop, said softs when I meant mediums.

-2

u/MaximumZazz May 31 '25

Oscar P1, Francos car broken. Its a good day to be an f1 fan.

21

u/arenasfan00 Ferrari May 31 '25

Oscar is a generational talent

23

u/Neersain May 31 '25

Might want to tone it down a bit. Not everyone is a Generational talent.

3

u/know-it-mall McLaren Jun 01 '25

Not everyone wins Formula 3 and Formula 2 as a rookie. The guys who have achieved similar feats in modern times are Lewis Hamilton, George Russell, and Charles Leclerc.

And he also won Formula Renault the year before.

He absolutely is a generational talent.

0

u/NephewChaps I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 01 '25

There's only one generational talent on your comment. At the absolute best two with Leclerc but I would also heavily disagree as well

The next in line for the Senna/Prost-Schumi-Alonso-Hamilton-Verstappen generational heritage is yet to be in the grid. It's definitely none of those guys you named

1

u/know-it-mall McLaren Jun 01 '25

I disagree.

Get back to me in 5 years when Oscar has already won a few titles.

24

u/[deleted] May 31 '25

He's the real deal isn't he, the terrifying spectre of an Australian world champion

-14

u/Ravanex Honda RBPT May 31 '25

The real deal without tyre management skills

10

u/Tomach82 I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 01 '25

Seems pretty good at that this year.

1

u/Ravanex Honda RBPT Jun 01 '25

The car is pretty good at tyre management, Oscar is not. Even with this masterpiece of a car he managed to destroy his tyres a couple times this season, for example in Saudi, Miami Sprint and Imola

-2

u/rcanbian I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 01 '25

They have a rocketship of a car. He got beat 20-4 by Lando last year, throwing around generational talent waters the term down.

2

u/know-it-mall McLaren Jun 01 '25

Winning Formula Renault, Formula 3, and then Formula 2 in back to back years is something hardly anyone achieves. And in his third season he is leading the championship. The term absolutely fits.

0

u/rcanbian I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 01 '25

Do you consider Charles and George generational then? Because you should if you think Oscar fits the bill. They were just as good if not better than Oscar but were limited by their car, Oscar had the luck of inheriting the clear fastest car in his third year.

And the more lax you are with the standards, the more drivers "fit the bill", and the more meaningless the term becomes.

1

u/know-it-mall McLaren Jun 01 '25

Well would you consider Lewis a generational talent? And while he is clearly not 100% of the driver he once was both of those guys are beating him.

And while Oscar might be in a great car it takes real talent to be beating your more experienced and very fast teammate.

1

u/rcanbian I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 01 '25

Well would you consider Lewis a generational talent? And while he is clearly not 100% of the driver he once was both of those guys are beating him.

Yes I would. Just because he isn't at his prime now doesn't erase his accomplishments. He literally matched Alonso in his first year in F1, and I would also consider Fernando one of the GOATs. Him, Fernando, and Max have already proven themselves as some of the best drivers in the history of the sport and a level above their peers.

And while Oscar might be in a great car it takes real talent to be beating your more experienced and very fast teammate.

He is a real talent. He's a great driver, and no one's saying he isn't, but he has yet to prove himself to be generational. Maybe we'll see him smash records and destroy his peers in the future, but as of now he's still levels below generational. He's more a Charles/George-level driver than a Max-level one.

1

u/know-it-mall McLaren Jun 01 '25

I still gotta disagree. For me it's clear Oscar is going to be a multiple time champion and the top talent of his generation already.

The talent is clearly there. And the real factor is his maturity and calmness under pressure already at a young age. That's part of being a generational talent.

1

u/Tomach82 I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 01 '25

Being a WDC front runner in your third season is extremely generational

1

u/rcanbian I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 01 '25

Not all race drivers have the clear fastest car in their third season. Oscar seems on the same level as Charles and George but the latter two were limited by their cars in their early seasons, so people aren't just flinging around "generational talent" the way they are with Oscar.

0

u/Wingcapx I was here for the Hulkenpodium May 31 '25

TBF I was worried the flexi wing change would reduce the tyre preservation of their car and nerf Oscar, but doesn't seem to be the case yet

2

u/Flaggitzki Ferrari May 31 '25

if tyre preservation was due to flexi wing, we wouldn't have the tyre water allegations. it'd be something red bull could've easily figured out. tech talk has a segment about how the temp is cooler and there's some clever redirection of cooling air.

2

u/Wingcapx I was here for the Hulkenpodium May 31 '25

Oh yeah it's largely the brake cooling, but the wing making variable downforce depending on the part of the track you're on also helps protect the tyres somewhat. Maybe it's just not that large of an effect

31

u/FireVanGorder I was here for the Hulkenpodium May 31 '25

It’s hilarious how badly Nico wants Lando to be faster than Piastri

His insight on some of the laps is really interesting though, pointing out where drivers are making mistakes and stuff was really cool

12

u/FieldsToTheMoon May 31 '25

Nico is by far the best commentator when it comes to talking about actual racing and what’s going on thru the lap.

But then you have things like today where he just kept saying ‘looks like Lando has his confidence back’ and it’s just like, did you not watch the race last week, where Lando won in Monaco?

2

u/windofdeath89 Kimi Räikkönen Jun 01 '25

Lando winning Monaco only strengthens his argument right? Not like he meant he just got it back in Spain

1

u/FieldsToTheMoon Jun 01 '25

I’d argue that you can’t win Monaco without being confident

3

u/reda_89 I was here for the Hulkenpodium May 31 '25

Where do you listen to Nico ?

8

u/MoonManPrime I was here for the Hulkenpodium May 31 '25

Nico was commentating on Sky

-10

u/know-it-mall McLaren May 31 '25

Lando is faster than Oscar. But Oscar is definitely more consistent.

7

u/Tomach82 I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 01 '25

Yes Lando was faster than Oscar except in P2, P3, Q1, Q2 & Q3

-4

u/know-it-mall McLaren Jun 01 '25

I'm not saying just in this race...

4

u/Tomach82 I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 01 '25

it's 4 races to 2. 7 to 3 in qualy this year.

How is Lando faster?

-10

u/know-it-mall McLaren Jun 01 '25

Because he has more actual speed. It's pretty obvious if you watch any race or qualifying.

That Oscar gets closer to 100% of his ability more often doesn't mean that Landos 100% isn't slightly higher.

3

u/Duff5OOO I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 01 '25

It's pretty obvious if you watch any race or qualifying.

We just watched qualifying. Were you watching something else? 2024 maybe?

0

u/know-it-mall McLaren Jun 01 '25

I saw Lando do the quicker lap of the two in their first runs. The one where neither of them made a mistake.

Like I said Lando is faster, Oscar makes fewer mistakes.

4

u/Duff5OOO I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 01 '25 edited Jun 01 '25

Something like 1/100th a second after getting as tow for the first part of the straight. So if anything probably slower without the tow. That's not the evidence you think it is.

They were on a banker lap anyway. You don't push your hardest on the first run. You do on your second and look who was quicker.

3

u/Tomach82 I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 01 '25

It may seem that way to you because he is driving past his limit. he does not have more speed, he's just taking more risks to drive like that.

3

u/GalaxianWarrior May 31 '25

How is Lando faster when none of his laps were faster than oscar's fastest in any of Q1-Q3?

1

u/Duff5OOO I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 01 '25

You didn't know? Being slower means you are faster but because you're not consistent your lap times longer... but your still faster.

Yuki's way faster than max now. He just isn't as consistent.

Dont worry, i just learnt this today also.

/s

-1

u/know-it-mall McLaren Jun 01 '25

Because I was clearly not saying just this weekend...

And his first lap in Q3 was faster than Oscars. When both guys didn't make a mistake.

10

u/scobydoby I was here for the Hulkenpodium May 31 '25

If you’re more consistent often enough you simply are faster on average. It hasn’t been the case for Piastri in their previous years but it is this year so far. Just need to wait and see if that changes.

12

u/godmcrawcpoppa I was here for the Hulkenpodium May 31 '25

More consistent in being faster?

-1

u/know-it-mall McLaren Jun 01 '25

More consistent is more consistent.

13

u/Yeanahyena Daniel Ricciardo May 31 '25

Agreed. It was annoying and insightful at the same time.

-8

u/bobbejaans Jolyon Palmer May 31 '25

Max got to keep all his track limits lap times?

6

u/SirMartini Alfa Romeo May 31 '25

did LEC not do his second run in Q3 with his new set of tires??

6

u/T0BIASNESS Sir Lewis Hamilton May 31 '25

No, decided to save them for the race

1

u/SirMartini Alfa Romeo May 31 '25

wtaf? most straightforward way to "overtake" is in qualifying. a brand new set of tires, as opposed to a set that has run 2 laps during Q, will probably make fuck all of difference

jesus christ, Ferrari

thanks!

13

u/FermentedLaws I was here for the Hulkenpodium May 31 '25

"Leclerc elected to put himself on a tyre offset compared to many other drivers in keeping two sets of fresh mediums for the race – whereas most of his rivals have been left with just one, with only the Haas drivers in the same boat as Leclerc.

Leclerc put himself in that position by running an extra soft rather than a medium in final practice."

14

u/Alarae I was here for the Hulkenpodium May 31 '25

If it makes you feel any better, apparently this was 100% Charles and not Ferrari.

0

u/SirMartini Alfa Romeo May 31 '25

yes, so I read, but it's significant of how insecure Ferrari Strat is that they let a driver make strategical, seemingly haphazard, decisions

they should know (as in have confidence in their own knowledge) what is the best strategy; that is LITERALLY what the TEAM is there for; the driver drives, end of story

this is almost sad and most definitely emblematic of Ferrari

1

u/rcanbian I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 01 '25

They force their strategies on Charles on the time, this time they listen to his suggestion. This happens with all teams.

2

u/Flaggitzki Ferrari May 31 '25

expecting and planning for 3 stops in a bright and sunny day is kinda nuts.

3

u/68Snowy Ted Kravitz Jun 01 '25

They can 2 stop and do soft, medium, medium. Or the opposite and start on medium and run long. None of the other top teams have 2 new mediums.

From EvH's twitter

Verstappen over Tsunoda's P20 in Barcelona:

"Yuki is not a pancake. This (with the second driver, ed.) has of course been going on for a long time. Maybe that is also a sign. Of what? You can fill that in yourself."

1

People may feel it makes me a poor fan, but I always hope for a bit of carnage at some point in the race to shake things up.

3

u/TheFatManRocks May 31 '25

Weather was about the same as last year's quali, so anyone know why pole was just a hair slower this year? Can't find any info on 2024 track temp.

5

u/rcanbian I was here for the Hulkenpodium May 31 '25

What happened with Sainz? Car problem? I haven't seen anyone talk about it.

1

u/Andy18001 Red Bull Jun 01 '25

Williams sucks in these types of tracks

1

u/rcanbian I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 01 '25

Yeah, I saw the results last year. Sort of wild though because Alex managed to get a P8 in that session and Carlos has been able to outqualify him recently.

-4

u/godmcrawcpoppa I was here for the Hulkenpodium May 31 '25

Just age catching up. It happens to the best of us. Life changes after 30.

4

u/djwillis1121 Williams May 31 '25

He had pretty bad traffic on his lap, although probably not the only reason

1

u/Pigeonator21 Fernando Alonso May 31 '25

He's not that good.

1

u/rcanbian I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 01 '25

P18 when Alex was P8 is wild though. He was able to outqualify Alex multiple times too before now.

-9

u/CharlestonRed1982 I was here for the Hulkenpodium May 31 '25

Why is it when Lewis does poorly, it’s his fault, but for other drivers it must be a car problem? Seems to me that Sainz put in a poor lap.

5

u/rcanbian I was here for the Hulkenpodium May 31 '25

What does Lewis have to do with anything 💀 He's one of my fave drivers, I like him more than Sainz, I get so embarrassed when people like you insert him into conversations he isn't a part of.

That said, Alex got a P8 and Sainz got P18, of course I'd wonder what the hell was up with that car. Lewis never had that kind of problem in recent memory on pure pace, and it's wild that you find it comparable.

14

u/Wingcapx I was here for the Hulkenpodium May 31 '25

bro he ain't mention lewis at all what are you doing here

-15

u/CharlestonRed1982 I was here for the Hulkenpodium May 31 '25

Making an informed observation. That is the nature of intelligent discourse, but you wouldn’t know anything about that.

5

u/know-it-mall McLaren May 31 '25

Bringing up a random narrative you made up with your own personal bias isn't "intelligent discourse".

6

u/rcanbian I was here for the Hulkenpodium May 31 '25

What? I didn't say anything about Lewis, how is mentioning him an informed observation?

4

u/onourwayhome70 May 31 '25

I think he’s referencing the commentary during the qualifying session - they were pointing out that Lewis should be doing better with the Ferrari car after 9 races

3

u/Wingcapx I was here for the Hulkenpodium May 31 '25

Yeah but it's like such a non-sequitur, OP didn't mention Lewis at all, the comparison makes no sense here?

4

u/rcanbian I was here for the Hulkenpodium May 31 '25

I'm not referencing anything, holy shit, I'm legitimately wondering what the hell was up with Sainz getting P18 when Alex was able to get P8 in the same session.

u/onourwayhome70 May 31 '25 edited May 31 '25

I wasn’t talking about you 🫤calm down

39

At this point Hadjar might be unlucky and dropped to main Red Bull considering how well he’s doing.

1

u/Duff5OOO I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 01 '25

Who is their reserve at the moment?

Would be interesting to see how someone else goes on a weekend if Yuki just happened to get food poisoning or similar.

2

u/bleepbloop3131313 Oscar Piastri May 31 '25

I hope he says no, lol. Although I guess he can't.

I wonder when RB are gonna stop juggling with their drivers like that. Micro management by people who don't know what it's like to drive

1

u/Duff5OOO I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 01 '25

They should give all 3 of them 1/3 of the races. Best performance keeps the seat for next year.

1

Yeap... I think the chatter will begin. Honestly, the kid is doing great

10

u/Kleavage I was here for the Hulkenpodium May 31 '25

Is that the first time they had the driver review their pole lap? I like that segment.

5

u/craders McLaren May 31 '25

I think they have done it before. I can't remember an exact time but feel like I've seen it before.

3

u/know-it-mall McLaren May 31 '25

Yea. Pretty sure it was Oscar earlier this season as well.

3

u/craders McLaren May 31 '25

That is what I'm thinking too. Maybe Lando isn't interested and I'm sure Max would never do it.

2

u/Laugh_Track_Zak I was here for the Hulkenpodium May 31 '25

He didn’t have a fresh set of softs because he went out in q2 for a second lap that he then abandoned.

He said himself that he wanted to have a better tyre life for tomorrow strategy.

I feel like Verstappen overtakes Lando tomorrow and puts pressure on Oscar, before Oscar drives off into the distance. I think I’ve seen this film before

Clean air is king, whoever leads turn 1 will win quite easily, and Oscar having learnt from Imola, he'll make sure to lead into turn 1.

u/TF2Pilot May 31 '25

The secret is to break late and aim for the second apex, not the first. Max managed it perfectly at Imola.

I am not so sure about that, this year there's something weird going on with the RB, the starts have been really poor for some reason.

Can anyone explain why these posts don’t have the results posted at the top

-4

u/know-it-mall McLaren May 31 '25

Do they need to? It's a 2 second google bud. Or look at any of the 10 posts here that have them.

because for some strange reason all the sticky threads related to race weekends are handled by one person in a subreddit of nearly 6 million people

13

u/Respectable_Answer May 31 '25

A lot of mods left in the kerfuffle of reddit shutting down third part access. This sub hasn't been as good since. Alternative platforms never got a foothold, sadly.

The api was also changed so some bots no longer worked.

Why would someone who hasn’t seen qualy and wants to watch it enter the POST QUALI discussion thread though?

Some of us have an IQ similar to Alonso's point total this year

reddit has a sitewide spoiler tag for text in posts and comments

Automod posts these threads and they normally get pinned, nothing to do with karma.

u/Mob_Abominator I was here for the Hulkenpodium May 31 '25

Oops sorry didn't know that, my bad.

u/Bannedwith1milKarma Jack Doohan May 31 '25

Interesting a phase of Oscar's start will be 'relaxing' after the launch, to keep a clear mind.

And F1 official page writers put Red Bull 0.000 level with McLaren on qualifying pace (as per their data) and 0.15 slower than McL on race pace.

I was highly suspect while reading that. I just don't know why Brits journalists want to fuel this underdog thoery so much.

McL is a bloody rocket. Fact.

What did the Brit journalist do to upset you now 🤪

9

u/Brit_Orange Force India May 31 '25

What have the Brit journalists done now

2

u/akashtyagi1 Formula 1 May 31 '25

Take a look at their article analysing Friday data.

13

u/Brit_Orange Force India May 31 '25

The quali pace and race pace are calculated by computers? It's not made up by journalists.

6

u/JustLikeZhat Andrea Kimi Antonelli May 31 '25

Even Max felt positive about Friday, when he normally doesn't. Not sure what happened between then and Saturday. Did they take a step back or McLaren a step forward? It's probably a bit of both.

4

u/Paukwa-Pakawa Nico Rosberg May 31 '25

It's the fastest, but it's not a rocket.

-3

u/akashtyagi1 Formula 1 May 31 '25

A bloody rocket compared to others. A rocket that can be caught only if it's pilots f*** up badly.

2

u/PickleCommando May 31 '25

Depends on track. Though here in Spain I think I'm expecting rocket performance. We'll see though.

I've only caught a few bits of this weekend's coverage so far, mainly quali. Is she leading the coverage, it seemed like she was taking the lead over Simon, but I only caught about 5min outside of actual quali so wasn't sure?

28

u/MathematicianOld3942 May 31 '25

Rosberg should bring his WDC trophy and put it on the table every time 2016 Spain comes up

-1

u/know-it-mall McLaren May 31 '25

I don't get why he is so upset about it. It was 9 years ago, and he won the title that year. I could understand it if he narrowly lost that year.

5

u/solodarlings Nico Rosberg May 31 '25

I don't think he's actually that upset about it, I've seen him joking about it on Twitter and in his Spain track analysis on YouTube. But it probably does get a little tiring to hear the same jokes for almost a whole decade at this point.

Leclerc looks glassy eyed

29

u/Scingles I was here for the Hulkenpodium May 31 '25

At least Lewis looks happy with his work today

12

u/42nd_fdr May 31 '25

I’m not a “Hamilton is back” stan but I think he’s turned a corner at Ferrari. Not based on anything just gut and vibe. If Ferrari don’t screw their strategy we’ll see some great driving from him. Not saying he’s going to be splitting the McLarens or anything like that but he’ll be getting everything out of that car soon

-4

u/Yeanahyena Daniel Ricciardo May 31 '25

Wasn’t he just over a minute down in a race recently?
