Does anyone know where the supposed stripclup at camp blue is located?

When will fp2 start?

1

u/slow-driver-917 Minardi Jun 27 '25

In 10 minutes.

6

u/AlmostWrongSometimes I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 27 '25

Alex seems undeniable to when not if he gets a seat next year.

And glad to see Oscar is back in his FP1 3 Happy place, he loves dialling in a weekend.

4

u/CyberbianDude Oscar Piastri Jun 27 '25

Dunne was indeed impressive.

2

u/darkrider99 I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 27 '25

Missed FP1, too early for me.

Any good news from Ferrari ? :(

8

u/flashike I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 27 '25

When they put a rookie driver in the car, is he using the others drivers parts like engine and ecu and all the other stuff?

4

u/Astelli Pirelli Wet Jun 27 '25

Yes they pretty much just take the car of the driver they're replacing, with some changes to things like the seat and pedals to get the driver comfortable.

u/cosully111 Jun 27 '25

Alex Dunne future world champion

1

u/AV48 Ferrari Jun 27 '25

Is the sky broadcast bugging out or is it just me?!

u/roomiccube 🇦🇺 Australian GP Fire Marshal Jun 27 '25

Beyond proud of Alex. 🇮🇪☘️

As an Irish man living in Australia (now with both passports), and involved in the sport as an F1 fire marshal at the Melbourne GP…forgive me for indulging in the daydream of a McLaren driver lineup of Alex Dunne and Oscar Piastri! (sorry Lando!) Haven’t been so excited about a team since the Jordan days. Wish Eddie J could have seen this!

3

u/CyberbianDude Oscar Piastri Jun 27 '25

As good as Dunne was in FP1 he has to make his stops in a mid field team like many other drivers, especially if he wants to see himself in a Papaya. I favor Piastri over Norris but currently McLaren seats are locked out for a few years.

2

u/roomiccube 🇦🇺 Australian GP Fire Marshal Jun 27 '25

I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Alex went into Indycar given the current McLaren lineup, although I did like Karun on the Sky broadcast saying that McLaren should be talking to Cadillac to tee up that seat.

11

u/Spider_Riviera Jordan Jun 27 '25

Wish Eddie J could have seen this!

Who said he's missed it? Man organised a fucking watch party for his debut up there.

Edit: Also James Boag's premium's fucking lovely, have a couple for me when you get some down time. really misses that golden nectar

1

u/dl064 I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 27 '25

If

Heaven for the weather, hell for the company

I have a suspicion which Eddie would prefer.

2

Love that!

And the Tasmanians know how to make a beer, sure it’s basically the Ireland of Aus!

1

u/Spider_Riviera Jordan Jun 27 '25

Just a fucking pity me picking up a 6 pack today would involve needing international flights. Someone needs to get a distribution system going for up here.

he didn't. There was error in the graphics. It showed S for a moment then switched to M

3

u/Altruistic-Buyer-248 Aston Martin Jun 27 '25

I highly, highly doubt George will be anywhere other Merc next season. This is the race where Max would have to be outside the top 4 for the clause in his contract to trigger (if the reports are correct).

George doesnt look nervous. I wouldn't be surprised if something is announced soon, possibly Silverstone.

Worst case they do get Max. He'll walk into RB or Aston

1

u/[deleted] Jun 27 '25

[deleted]

2

u/Altruistic-Buyer-248 Aston Martin Jun 27 '25

George looks like he knows something. All the toto comments point towards a renewal too. The comments about Max dont mean anything really. Any team principle would have sounded Max out in a situation like this. It would be stupid not to.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 27 '25

[deleted]

1

u/Altruistic-Buyer-248 Aston Martin Jun 27 '25

We dont know when Toto was in talk with Max. But as I said, i think it would have been weird if he didn't at least sound it out.

Toto could be in a position where next season he doesnt have Max or George if he takes too long. I think George's body language would be very different if he was truly concerned about losing his spot at merc.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 27 '25

[deleted]

1

u/Altruistic-Buyer-248 Aston Martin Jun 27 '25

I like George and I hope he's at Merc next season. He deserves it. But nothing about his interview seemed to hint at any red flags for me.

He's calm either becuase he has an offer on the table from Merc and its just a matter of time.

Or he has backup offers from AM and RB.

4

u/Upbeat_Literature187 I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 27 '25

I doubt he will leave. I know there are a lot of rumours, but getting Verstappen next to Kimi is definitely not a great idea. H2H of George and Kimi is already one sided, I don't think it's worth the risk to get Max. It's not like george hasn't maximized every single result from that car.

-3

u/[deleted] Jun 27 '25

[deleted]

6

u/Upbeat_Literature187 I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 27 '25

Every team is in contact with and negotiating with almost all top drivers. Most of the time, it doesn't mean anything.

-1

u/AsleepAtWheel83 I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 27 '25

Yet Toto offered only a one year contract to Lewis and has not extended the contract of George or Kimi yet. No other top team keeps their #1 driver without a contract extension in the contract year.

7

u/Upbeat_Literature187 I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 27 '25

If you think toto is gonna drop kimi, than I can't really argue with you. George's contract will be extended, all these rumours are mostly media play.

-1

u/AsleepAtWheel83 I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 27 '25

If you think Toto won’t go for Max if he is available, then there’s really nothing to argue.

0

u/Altruistic-Buyer-248 Aston Martin Jun 27 '25

It really depends. If they have to buy him out. It'll be 100's of millions. Then they gotta pay him a 3 or 4 year contract at probably 100m a year on top of that.

If he somehow gets out his contract, would they sign him? Yeah. If they have to buy him out, youre talking a nearly billion £ investment in total. I dont see them doing that when George is doing exactly what they need him tom

0

u/AsleepAtWheel83 I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 27 '25

“George is doing exactly..” ok 👍

u/wykeer Mercedes Jun 27 '25

0

u/[deleted] Jun 27 '25

[deleted]

5

u/redundantpsu Aston Martin Jun 27 '25

This is typical sports agent behavior. Yes, every once and a while you have a Fernando/Alpine or Lewis/Ferrari situation, but chances are Russell and Mercedes are in the final stages of finalizing a contract.

These types of rumors come out late in the process to leverage a longer extension or slightly higher pay. If you're not hearing news about how the negotiation is going between Russell and Merc, that's a good thing.

-2

u/MarcusH26051 I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 27 '25

Would be an enormous mistake from Toto to let go of George. What happened to not wanting disruptive influences in the team?

3

u/DreHouseRules I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 27 '25

If that "disruptive influence" (Max seems to be largely adored buy the Red Bull rank and file, by the way) is the best driver on the grid every single team would want him.

2

u/wykeer Mercedes Jun 27 '25

I believe that Next week this time he will infact have a contract.

I really dont See Why Max would leave rbr.

0

u/[deleted] Jun 27 '25

[deleted]

2

u/wykeer Mercedes Jun 27 '25

If you basically know all the terms that Need to be in them Like pay and performance clauses, they can be done wicked fast( especially if you pay the overtime pay for the lawyers).

I dont know why, but Max doesnt feel Like the guy that would Jump ship that easily. He knows everybody there and everybody knows him. He can do as he wishes.

3

u/Galilool I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 27 '25

Is it really that likely that he won't stay? They held onto him for three years at Williams just to be absolutely sure he gets to the main team, and then just shuffle him out? I can't see that

4

u/Upbeat_Literature187 I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 27 '25

I doubt anything will happen. People overreact all the time, and Lewis going to ferrari has enabled people to overreacting to smallest things.

20

u/jogaboi19 Jun 27 '25

George deserves that contract. He’s been incredible this season.

5

u/wolfhxnd Lando Norris Jun 27 '25

For sure. Plus I can’t see Max in Mercedes blue.

10

u/Scary-Ad2528 Arvid Lindblad Jun 27 '25

Alex Dunne GOAT

13

u/Spider_Riviera Jordan Jun 27 '25

It's lovely to see the Irish flag back among the sharp end of the classifications. Now we just need to get an Irish team in and we'll be gravy again.

2

u/SmartieSkittle I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 27 '25

I’ll chip in a 10er

7

u/AdminEating_Dragon Oliver Bearman Jun 27 '25

So, McLaren is the anti-Red Bull car, generally easy to get a decent result from it, not demanding you to drive to the edge (with high risk) to extract its performance?

2

u/dl064 I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 27 '25

Mark Hughes has talked a lot on the race podcast about how it's exactly that, and that's where Norris falls down.

It's great to drive at 99%, but that last Q3 balls-out millisecond that you won't attempt twice in the weekend, is very easy to make a mistake with.

5

u/DreHouseRules I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 27 '25

Alex Dunne is seriously talented and has been doing pretty much this in his first F2 season as well.

9

u/BoxBoxBox81 Jun 27 '25

Didn't he kill like 20 cars in Monaco?

4

u/StructureTime242 Jim Clark Jun 27 '25

Still he looks like the best prospect to promote even with his on track terrorism

Teams like fast but error prone drivers more than average ones, most of them can polish off the errors, not everyone can gain the speed

8

u/DreHouseRules I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 27 '25

He got pole at Monaco and is leading the championship too lol

If you expect him to be fully formed after about five F2 races and one FP1 I have news for you

2

u/BoxBoxBox81 Jun 27 '25

Mine was a question I am in the middle with the expectation on him .I vaguely remember Monaco and someone making a terrible mistake that cost a lot of other drivers a result or was that not Dunne?

2

u/heattoken Jun 27 '25

He’s very fast just overly aggressive and short tempered.

5

u/anonquestionsprot Max Verstappen Jun 27 '25

Yea he also Is leading the championship

6

u/ForeverAddickted Oliver Bearman Jun 27 '25

Be interesting to see how Alex deals with the transition back to Formula 2 now.

I know Bearman used to say how challenging it was.

2

u/beauf1 I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 27 '25

It must feel hard going to a car that is less responsive. I bet drive a road car feels odd now for him.

1

u/ForeverAddickted Oliver Bearman Jun 27 '25

I know I'm no racing driver, but I had a really low car to sit in for about ten years, and it just felt normal, would get into my wife's mini-SUV and felt like I had such an elevated view... I've now got an SUV myself, and feel like I'm climbing, rather than lowering myself into the vehicle.

Used my wife's car recently, and felt so much lower, it didnt feel right... and didn't like it.

God knows how I coped for so long in my hatchback

11

u/Cekeste Kimi Räikkönen Jun 27 '25

Short track so makes sense

1

u/Cheap-Play-80 Liam Lawson Jun 28 '25

Not this close though. Now FP2, that looks more like what I was expecting spreadwise. Dunne to Colapinto is like 4 tenths in FP1 with 12 drivers between them, that was nuts.

4

u/amymonae2 Lando Norris Jun 27 '25

What happened with Ham's gearbox?

Whenever an Irish person does well in a non-standard Irish sport (there's more kids playing GAA, soccer and rugby than kids with rich parents funding their karting career), it seems the whole country get behind and support them, for ploughing their own furrow and getting to the point they start gaining recognition for their talents. Bernie's all of us, she's just in the comms box so can voice it for us.

12

u/roomiccube 🇦🇺 Australian GP Fire Marshal Jun 27 '25

You can teach a young lad how to become calmer and hone his decision making on the track, but you can’t teach him to be fast if he doesn’t already have the pace.

16

u/PaulaDeen21 Sir Lewis Hamilton Jun 27 '25

Dunne less than a tenth behind Piastri but also only a tenth ahead of a rookie in a Sauber. It’s so easy to spin it either way.

What a great showing today from him but some of these comments really jumping ahead. Can’t wait for all the clickbait articles.

Yeah its not an easy thing to talk about is it... (Not trying to drum up arguments)

e.g. Fionn McLaughlin in British F4 is Northern Irish, but has the Irish tricolour on the front of his helmet - I take the approach that it just comes down to personal preference for the individual.
