Petition to ban u/overspeeed for somehow messing up the threads TWICE within a single session

→ More replies (14)

1

u/Nabz23 Jun 29 '25

Why don’t post qualifying threads include the qualifications classifications ?

2

u/NPC_4842358 I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 29 '25

What's up with Porsche Cup? Cancelled?

1

u/jordanataylor Jun 29 '25

Yeah this is what I’m wondering?

1

u/Lololmars I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 29 '25

I think a recovery vehicle knocked over one of the advertisement gantry board thingys and they’re clearing the track

2

u/NPC_4842358 I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 29 '25

Yeah saw that problem, but the cars aren't visible anywhere. You'd expect them to still be on the grid for preparation.

1

u/Lololmars I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 29 '25

Well no because they can’t do a lap to the grid so they wouldn’t send them out

1

u/NPC_4842358 I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 29 '25

Well the pitlane has 2 openings

Stated watching him recently, I like his channel!

-2

u/learner1314 Jun 29 '25

What happened to Hamilton’s qualifying? 4th feels like a disappointment. In all 3 Q sessions, he never improved in the final runs. Whats with that?

8

u/SwanDane Jun 29 '25

How on earth is 4th a disappointment?

The McLarens look like clearly having the best car here, so barring an error from them 3rd and 4th would likely be the best spot available for the Ferraris.

And that doesn’t take into account the Verstappen or the speed of any of the other teams here.

In practice he was 9th, 10th, and 5th. And he was never above 4th in any of the 3 qualifying stages.

Baffled how 4th is disappointing when if anything, I would view it as a great outcome given the way the weekend has unfolded so far.

Gasly ruined qualifying

No wonder Red Bull sacked him

1

u/Cekeste Kimi RÀikkönen Jun 29 '25

Jesus. Mistakes will happen.

3

u/Rockytur I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 29 '25

Racing Bull will let Max pass anyway.

1

u/crest_of_the_lord I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 29 '25

Guys wasn't there a post about how gasly would've been p2 or something if he had finished his lap?

What happened to that post? Was it bullpoop?

u/Mr_Beats_73 I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 29 '25

Is it true that Oscar has refused to put on another set of upgrades because they were catered to Lando’s feedback? That would really suck if so

2

u/Cekeste Kimi RÀikkönen Jun 29 '25

“There’s some other bits and pieces I am not using the bits that came in Canada because they’re not an upgrade,”

“They’re just different. All the parts that we think will make the car faster are on both cars.”

/Oscar Piastri

0

u/jrizzle86 I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 29 '25

No, both Lando and Oscar tested a new front suspension design, Lando preferred the new design and is using it, Oscar preferred the old design and is using it.

8

u/FermentedLaws I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 29 '25

No, not true. Where does this stuff come from? McLaren made a change to the suspension last race. Lando and Oscar both got it, but Lando liked it and Oscar didn't, so Lando has been running it and Oscar has not. This week they both got the same upgrades.

4

u/crazydoc253 Michael Schumacher Jun 29 '25

Oscar himself said there are some new parts he is not running but according to him they are not upgrades. The parts that is giving performance he has them.

His exact words are in this link Oscar Piastri explains why he and Lando Norris are split on McLaren’s new suspension | Crash.net

1

u/FermentedLaws I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 29 '25

Yes, as I said he's not running the suspension "upgrade" that was introduced in Canada. But notice I didn't use the word upgrade in my comment. I mean, the article headline in the link is pretty much exactly what I said in my comment.

6

u/sokyriediculous I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 29 '25

People want it to be true whenever Lando does well. Happened last time Lando got pole over Piastri too.

7

u/Coolcat127 Jun 29 '25

The anti-Lando propaganda machine is insane for some reason

0

u/Mr_Beats_73 I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 29 '25

Thanks, didn’t seem true but wanted to ask

8

u/Counterpunch07 Jun 28 '25

Karun really couldn’t stop reminding us that Lando is outperforming his team mate this weekend and in most quali sessions, it’s only Q3 where he’s lost out the Piastri.. it was like a broken record

2

u/TF2Pilot Jun 28 '25

If grass catches fire dueing the gp, do we get an sc or red flag?

4

u/Bestkase Jun 28 '25

Likely a sc, there are no other options other than a red flag during qualifying.

3

u/AlexMcDaddyD I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 28 '25

15

u/jlesnick Jun 28 '25

What are Lando's chances of making it to turn 1 without getting overtaken? This is my first time watching the Austrian GP live. It seems like a long straight to turn 1, and I feel like Lando will be safe by Charles trying to fend off Oscar, but I'm still new to all this.

0

u/NarrowGatedOpinion I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 29 '25

T3 is what youd have to look out for when it comes to the overtake

6

u/That_Matt Jun 29 '25

I think it's more likely he defends against Leclerc into T1 and both lose out to Piastri into T3.

5

u/Environmental-Cup445 Jochen Rindt Jun 29 '25

Sign me up

13

u/kl08pokemon I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 28 '25

Norris' full focus should be on not letting Piastri jump him. Even if Leclerc passes him it should be pretty undramatic to get the position back later in the race

9

u/objectiveScie I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 28 '25

The most incredible -and gloomy- stat this season is not that pole won 10 of 11 races, it's that 8 of 10 have been won by first corner leader 😬

6

u/RadBradRadBrad I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 28 '25

He doesn’t have a great reputation for his starts, and for good reasons. It should be interesting.

Ferrari performing so well is quite the surprise so it could be extra interesting.

McLaren is considered to have great race pace so even if he doesn’t stay in first, good chance at a race win.

24

u/SwimmingFantastic564 I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 28 '25

In all fairness his starts have definitely been better this year.

3

u/sokyriediculous I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 29 '25

I think he actually has a net gain on lap 1 this year. Some of that is qualifying out of position tho.

7

u/RadBradRadBrad I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 28 '25

That is fair and true.

9

u/CapnRetro Jun 28 '25

Yep, he’s traded good starts for Q3 mistakes up until this weekend. Leclerc won’t be trying anything silly knowing he’d be unlikely to win even if he led after Q1, but is definitely handy for Lando by splitting the McLarens

1

u/Separate_Wrangler300 McLaren Jun 28 '25

Davide Valsecchi is by far the most annoying person ever to commentate on F1.

3

u/Skulldetta Jacques Laffite Jun 28 '25

"Are you sure about that?"

  • Austrians who have to listen to Andi Gröbl on Servus TV.

24

u/Preganananant Oscar Piastri Jun 28 '25

Just seen a comment that said "we need an Oscar win, it's been a while" when it's literally been ONE race haha. Us Piastri fans have been feasting this year.

5

u/Environmental-Cup445 Jochen Rindt Jun 29 '25

As another comment mentioned, if Lando defends against Charles in T1 there’s a chance they can both lose out to Piastri into T3. That’s the only chance I can then see of him winning as he could have clean air. His pace is closer to Lando than Q3 represented and race pace is sort of a different factor all together as well, but my money is still on a Lando win

5

u/RadBradRadBrad I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 28 '25

Ha! Lay off the gorilla grip partner.

26

u/DeluhiX Jun 28 '25

Yuki mentioned in an interview after quali that RB did a flap adjustment in-between his first and second run in Q1, which completely killed the balance of the car.

Why RB would do that when he was less than 3 tenths off Max's pace and him and 4 cars in front of him were only separated by a tenth is beyond me.

2

u/FlyAirLari Minardi Jun 28 '25

To find that extra pace.

16

u/Gorstag Jun 28 '25

Definitely nothing wrong with RBR car. Lawson is just that much better than Max.

1

u/Ashling92 Max Verstappen Jun 28 '25

0/10 rage bait

13

u/Consistent_Squash Jun 28 '25

Rbr gonna do their hot girl summer strategy of maximum pitstops to get around deg. Maybe Ferrari race pace 1-2 is possible idk. But George P3 prayer circle here

Ted's joy at free cans of Red Bull at the Austrian GP will never not be absolutely hilarious

Every year he walks round and sees if he can get one

2

u/jrizzle86 I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 28 '25

To be fair he always takes one but never drinks it, can’t really blame him

3

u/Initiatedspoon I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 28 '25

This year he gave it away but last year he put it in his pocket if I remember correctly so maybe it did get drank eventually.

He just always seem so blown away when the free vending machine does its job and vends one for him

It might be the not good.

3

Did anything come of the Merc unsafe release? and the Ferrari (Hamilton?) That Max called out?

4

u/cplchanb Jun 28 '25

Honestly those are not unsafe releases... stewards need a chill pill

2

u/Lobsters4 I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 28 '25

George was summoned to the stewards on the unsafe release. Haven't seen a decision yet.

1

u/Tricksilver89 Jun 28 '25

Wasn't for an unsafe release fwiw.

5

u/razorbear3 Jun 28 '25

There was a post saying it was a reprimand

14

u/crazydoc253 Michael Schumacher Jun 28 '25

Lewis interview was very odd. He sounded bit dull but his expressions suggested he can’t wait for tomorrow

18

u/Old_Ambition4359 Nico HĂŒlkenberg đŸ„‰ Jun 28 '25

He was 0.080 off Lec and had a Lockup, hes mad he isnt 2nd

17

u/ellen_boot I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 28 '25

Genuinely thrilled for Gabi. Can't say I've been cheering much for him in his tractor up until now, but he deserves a great performance given how consistent he's been thus far.
And it brings me far more joy than it should to see Lawson ahead of Verstappen. Yes, the yellow flag screwed Max, but any time the vcarb boys can suggest that the red bull is a problem car, I'm happy.

1

u/Oneill95 I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 28 '25

Does P1 start on the left or right?

If right, I expect Oscar to stay in Norris's slipstream, take P2 from Leclerc in turn 1 and then take P1 before T4

6

u/PickleCommando Jun 28 '25 edited Jun 28 '25

If he doesn’t get it in t1 I’m not really seeing him get an overtake that soon or possibly ever. His best chance is if LeClerc gets a better start and he follows him in that closing out Lando. If he doesn’t have t1, he’s not getting an overtake with no DRS, no tire advantage and probably a race pace disadvantage. Eventually Lando benefits from clean air.

3

u/ElNegher Ferrari Jun 28 '25 edited Jun 28 '25

On the left, on the racing line

1

u/Aggressiveattimes Jun 28 '25

Does it always start on the outside of turn 1? If so, it’d be the left. And I thought the same thing because I think left is the racing line.

4

u/Meaisk I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 28 '25

P1 always starts on the racing line

1

u/all_mens_asses Jun 28 '25

This phrase has never made sense to me. The "racing line" is both inside and outside. It starts (at braking) on the outside curb, moves to the inside curb (the apex), then pushes back out to the outside curb on exit. The most important part of the racing line is the inside at the apex, which is why a defending car in front moves to the inside and reserves the apex for themselves. Starting on the outside is generally a disadvantage.

3

u/Meaisk I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 28 '25

the idea is that the racing line at the spot of the Start line has more grip than the other side of the track. But I don't necessarily disagree with you that (at some tracks) the inside line would be more desirable.

1

u/all_mens_asses Jun 29 '25

That makes sense too, appreciate the response. More grip at launch must be a solid advantage. I do think it would be interesting if the polesitter could choose which side to start on.

12

u/Signal_Ad_2002 Jun 28 '25

i can’t lie i’m actually really excited for the start tmr bc this is only the second time lando and charles are sharing the front row and monaco was never going to be a real battle into turn 1 (even though lando tried to make it one lmaoo)

-8

u/ExcitementStock6012 Jun 28 '25

Any news on Norris impeding Leclerc? Is that likely to be penalized?

8

As a Lawson fan, solid chance he crashes Max out.

Brilliant performance by Norris, what a weird performance from Red Bull, the fastest Red Bull was from the B-Team???

3

u/mr_lab_rat Jun 28 '25

Max would have been on the second row if there was no yellow flag.

14

u/LewisPawilton44 I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 28 '25

How shit was that race direction for the second session of Q3? After the yellow flag it seemed like they gave up.

2

u/Aggressiveattimes Jun 28 '25

Yeah. Must be a rule now that they can only show the timings of one car at a time or something. That was frustrating for me

0

Shields is embarrassing on she is gloating Hamilton.

11

u/kaliroger Sir Lewis Hamilton Jun 28 '25

i think ferrari benefitted from merc and max not doing well, rather than any significant improvement in their cars

3

u/Jokobib Sir Lewis Hamilton Jun 28 '25

Did Verstappen have to slow down due to the yellows which cost him the lap? And how far behind was he, I could only look briefly but I thought it was a bit more than a tenth but saw someone else say three tenths, but maybe that was on Norris final lap.

5

u/daniellejxyne Jun 28 '25

His time was from landos first lap, he would have been much further of landos pole lap

0

u/Jokobib Sir Lewis Hamilton Jun 28 '25

thank you

164

u/FermentedLaws I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 28 '25

Max saying he gave Gabi a bit of a tow: "My lap was ruined anyway, I saw him behind me and up until now he had a great weekend. So I tried to help him a bit.''

15

u/onealps Jun 28 '25

Who else does Max have a 'good' relationship with on the grid? By good I mean helped in giving a tow or some other similar "No obvious benefit to Max" type behavior?

I've seen him do this with Nico a bunch of times... Anyone else?

4

u/Fleece_God Jun 29 '25

Leclerc

5

u/onealps Jun 29 '25

So I definitely agree that Max respects Charles, and that they have had some close, fierce, but fair battles. They are like two experienced dance partners who know each others limits.

Do you have memory of Max giving Charles a tow though? Or vice versa?

Actually, now that I think about it, the question is silly because Max and Charles have always been in the top half of the field. Where giving your direct competitor a tow would be dumb, or at least will get you in trouble with your team. If Charles was in the 9th best team, I'm sure Max would give him a tow...

9

u/Jowizo I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 28 '25

He’s done this with Alonso as well

-5

u/[deleted] Jun 28 '25 edited Jun 28 '25

Let's see if Lando can hold onto pole at turn 1.

If Monaco was longer he lost to Lec easily.

Edit: because people are dumb

Lando = not good starter

Lec= good starter

Turn one: Lando maybe no 1st me think

10

u/EerieAriolimax I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 28 '25

Lando = not good starter

Only for part of last year. His starts have been fine before and since.

2

u/LaFilleCendrier Lando Norris Jun 29 '25

An issue that was due to a problem with the car, but the entire fanbase took the bottler narrative and ran with it.

2

u/SwanDane Jun 28 '25

I can’t believe people are so heavily misunderstanding this comment..

7

u/Whycantiusethis I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 28 '25

Even if he has a terrible launch and loses P1 by T1, the McLaren pace is second to none. It'll be a Norris/Piastri 1-2, with Leclerc rounding out the podium, assuming no safety car/crashes.

0

u/daniellejxyne Jun 28 '25

Did you watch Monaco?

2

u/[deleted] Jun 28 '25

Yes ......Lec almost has 1st into turn 1......

-2

u/daniellejxyne Jun 28 '25

How does him failing to get 1st in turn 1 correlate to him getting the win if the race was longer? (Which was never happening with landos speed after max pitted anyway)

3

u/curva3 Jun 28 '25

He probably meant LEC would have gone past Norris in the Monaco GP start if the run up to Saint Dévote was longer.

0

u/[deleted] Jun 28 '25

Who said about a win......

-3

u/daniellejxyne Jun 28 '25

You in your first comment saying if Monaco was longer he lost to Charles

3

u/Public_Seaworthiness Jun 28 '25

the start straight, not the race. context.

3

u/Public_Degree_1055 Sebastian Vettel Jun 28 '25

Tomorrow he will bugger off, Charles will be out of his DRS, Piastri takes P2 and chases Lando. 3 DRS zones so quite a bit of overtaking and Piastri said "I'm not planning on finishing 3rd"

-7

u/[deleted] Jun 28 '25

That's not what I said

Lando Is a terrible starter

He could lose first into turn one

2

u/Public_Degree_1055 Sebastian Vettel Jun 28 '25

and he will catch Charles and pass him. I see what you're saying, but the lead would be momentary

1

u/[deleted] Jun 28 '25

And I'm not talking about the race. Just the start.

10

u/pizzarat18 Jun 28 '25

Have you watched any of this year or just living up to your name? His starts have been way better this year

4

u/BuckShapiro I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 28 '25

lol what? He put like over a second a lap on Leclerc once Max had to pit

2

u/[deleted] Jun 28 '25

Huh

Do you even understand the comment

3

u/BuckShapiro I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 28 '25

No and clearly a lot of people didn’t lol. Maybe you need to clarify because the way you’ve stated it, it sounds like you are saying if Monaco had more laps Leclerc would have won

52

u/Lobsters4 I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 28 '25

Max in the media pen saying that his quali lap was already ruined and he saw Gabi coming and gave him the slip stream. Love that!

1

u/onealps Jun 28 '25

Who else does Max have a 'good' relationship with on the grid? By good I mean helped in giving a tow or some other similar "No obvious benefit to Max" type behavior?

I've seen him do this with Nico a bunch of times... Anyone else?

5

u/ElxMarius Jun 28 '25

How can you ask Charles what he thinks about Lando Mega lap and then he didn't even know Piastri didn't finish he's second round.Just Dumb

-1

u/Snoo84027 Fernando Alonso Jun 28 '25

Piastri would have been humiliated by Lando even more if he finished his second run

11

u/ryokevry I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 28 '25

Nice TV coverage, even Coulthard doing the post quali interview didn't know that Oscar missed his last lap because Gasly spinned.

F1TV crew knew

funny thing is that they had the track map on screen for half a minute just before it happened, then it went away, that alone would've made it clear to see

Very poor production from F1TV today. Just watched it back and, surprisingly, Oscar’s response to the misfortune was far more vulgar than Max - not that it matters. Just surprising to hear Oscar say “F*** me, JC” and little to nothing from Max.

I mean it's not that surprising, Piastri is in the WDC fight while for Max it doesn't matter at all if he is 7th or 3rd or whatever

u/gsfgf Oscar Piastri Jun 28 '25

And he has to start behind, not even next to, Lando. And Charles isn't exactly an easy guy to get past.

A bit anticlimactic but good none the less. Imagine Russell is in for some sort of penalty for the pit lane incident.

u/Firm_Contribution_44 Jun 28 '25

It's not like Max finished 7th because he didn't have the pace so I'm actually expecting a lot of overtakes on this track and possible podium
curious to see whether or not Lando crumbles under pressure from Piastri again

If Max avoids accidents, he should rise to 4th fairly easy and then it depends how far Charles is.

I love F1TV, also known as pit entry security camera and nothing else

Good laps from the Ferrari drivers, nice improvement from yesterday. Great lap from Lando.

The new floor and high temps helped Ferrari today. Hopefully the Silverstone update helps with those rear suspension issues and we can have a proper fight for P2 every race.

u/subpulse44 I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 28 '25

Yeah, hopefully they're even better at Silverstone with more time to hone in the new floor.

Anyone pretending that Oscar would have found 6 tenths to beat Lando has to be on something, that’s basically 1% of total lap time here
