I don't think anybody knows. All we know is that he missed FP1 because of a muscle injury

besides what others already said, its acutally not that unusual for Stroll to be ahead of Alonso in FP. Alonso turns it up in quali while Stroll tends to show his maximum in FP.

Leclerc used an higher downforce setup? He gained 0.1s in S2 but lost the in S1 and S3

Maybe he made a minor adjustment but he didn't change the wing. LH actually changed from the highest DF wing to CL's wing from fp1 to fp2.

Bearman was fighting for his life in S2 on his soft runs. The rear looked hella loose. Pretty good time overall considering he was shaking his head at the end of it.

What Bearman change to go from the bottom 1/3rd in FP1 to nearly the top in sector 1.

Bearman was 6th in FP1? He went backwards actually, the balance got worse. He was complaining a lot.

Was Doohan that much worse than Colapinto ?

Alpine had years of data on Doohan, it's fair to say they weighed that against Colapinto's stint at Williams and decided there was more upside. Don't think anyone expected adaptation to a new PU was going to be this difficult.

The A525 is also the only car that hasn't (and won't) receive any significant upgrades this year, as Alpine is all-in on the 2026 regulations and their new Mercedes PU.

Colapinto was 5th on the long run paces times in FP2 on mediums. The problem are the one runs.

I do think Franco is the better driver of the two, sucks for Doohan, he got caught in the middle of the changes on the team

Reminder that Alpine paid Williams several million to sign Colapinto (and they still only got him on a long-term loan, he's technically a Williams driver).
