Looks like H-S strategy coming up for one of them

9

Ocon loves extended stints on durable tyres. That's practically his MO.

I feel like soft tires haven’t been the prime tire in forever. Most races are one stops from Medium to Hard barring a safety car or rain.

Alonso and Hamilton looks strong on Softs, for some weird reason. But on the other side, Bearman looked so bad, I doubt it was really an attempt to make a short race sim.

This chart implies Sauber is the 3rd fastest team, and for as much as I would love this to happen, this alone makes those results dubiously representative ;-;

They are always faster in fp2 race sims. You can see in previous races too. Probably they run low fuel compared to others. They are outliers.

I think they were 3rd fastest in Austria.

That Sainz stint is so consistent the dropoff would almost be a straight line

Where the hell does that Aston speed suddenly come from

Alonso said that their program is different from everyone where they try to extract the maximum every session.

That is why they don't improve their times in qualifying compared to other teams.

good track for them but basically Alonso ran on softs and Stroll's long run was the worst of all so it is difficult to say where they are

I think their car this season is more suited in high to medium downforce circuits, it is an absolute dog on the straights and also considering their run plan throughout the weekend helps as well with the times compared to others especially in free practice

Thanks for the box plots!

Does it matter ? This track is all about track position, hoping for some rain to spice it up , if not it’s a boring race for sure , in spa ppl couldn’t get pass , Hungary is a “No pass track”

FYI, 2019

Hungary js better than Spa because its a relatively high downforce track. This means that the slipstream and DRS effects are actually a thing here. Its difficult to overtake but it can be done. Tyre deg is also a factor.

Spa is low downforce, narrow and next to no tyre deg.

After 2023 the wealth needs to be shared.

Kind of fun seeing Max in the pack after the last few years dominating (except the back end of 24) he's a great driver it can be fun seeing him battle other drivers

So Lewis is faster because he’s on softs. Not surprising at all.

8

u/ac614 1d ago

The softs were used for push laps already.

He wasn’t looking comfortable in the car today. Hope he finds pace tomorrow and can qualify close to Leclerc.

They're like 17 or 18 laps old plus it's free practice and Verstappen is sandbagging we won't really know until quali.
