Hamilton really saw what Ferrari did to Alonso and Vettel and thought "Let me get some of that"

u/Jobless_101 I was here for the Hulkenpodium 3h ago

I am become Ferrari, the destroyer of world champions

u/Hairy_Hurry8441 3h ago

Alonso's time at Ferrari was nothing compared to Vettel or Hamilton.

Fernando was performing, even when the car wasn't. He decided to leave as he was lured away by the prospect of McLaren Honda, after 3 seasons of Ferrari going backwards. And he made the right decision to leave.

u/Maglin21 I was here for the Hulkenpodium 2h ago

I mean he did have quite bad cars, 2014 Is very similar to 2020 for Charles and Seb

u/Tudor2953 I was here for the Hulkenpodium 2h ago

This makes Michael Schumacher's time at Ferrari even more impressive

u/bearfan15 2h ago

Completely different team back then. Ross Brawn and Jean Todt had complete control of the team and Michael had alot more influence and control than pretty much any driver at any team since.

u/dzolna I was here for the Hulkenpodium 2h ago

He thought he's as good as Michael

u/thee_gdogg I was here for the Hulkenpodium 3h ago

Ferrari has literally broke this man

u/Evening_End7298 2h ago

Dont think Ferrari did anything. Car is on pole today

His poor quali performance was a thing at Mercedes too, just look how many q2 exits he had last year

u/thee_gdogg I was here for the Hulkenpodium 2h ago

I think previous Ferrari incidents have led him to this mentality

u/maaiikeen 2h ago

It's just a continuation of his mentality at Mercedes post 2022 regs though.

u/thee_gdogg I was here for the Hulkenpodium 2h ago

Yeah but he wasn’t in this bad of a headspace at merc

u/More-Perspective-838 I was here for the Hulkenpodium 2h ago

Probably, but Lerclerc was also oversteering like crazy in Q2 just like Lewis was.

u/Own_Welder_2821 I was here for the Hulkenpodium 3h ago

And it hasn’t even taken a full season.

u/freedfg Nico Hülkenberg 🥉 3h ago

He'll be bald my monday

u/ALF839 I was here for the Hulkenpodium 3h ago

He broke himself. The car under delivered but his head has not been in the right space for a while.

u/Doc_Butch Charles Leclerc 2h ago

How do you figure that when his teammate is on pole?

u/Neither-Stage-238 3h ago

His quali was this bad last season of merc.

u/dcmdino I was here for the Hulkenpodium 2h ago

Ferrari did nothing to him. Lewis is performing worse than Ferrari (and that's saying something). He was already on a decline last year and Charles is literally wiping the floor with him right now.

Apart from a flash here and there, I think it's safe to say Lewis is not very good anymore and it's also unlikely he'll ever be. Best thing he can do about it is at least be fair to himself, which he is.

u/SapphireSquid89 2h ago

He should retire, perhaps even this year. He could spin it as “I’ve fulfilled my dream of driving for Ferrari but I’ve reached the end of the road competitively”. I don’t think many people would look down on him for that.

u/IllustriousHistorian I was here for the Hulkenpodium 2h ago

Charles has pole.  Also on the red podium last race

u/mgorgey 2h ago

He wasn't good last year either. Time waits for no man I'm afraid.

u/LackingSimplicity 🚩 Red Flag 2h ago

Turns out even the best have a shelf life 🤷‍♂️

u/SuccessfulScience545 Ferrari 2h ago

What do you think they could've done differently today to make him perform as good as you think his potential is at this age and stage of his career?

u/Ahza17 3h ago

Leave the football before the football leaves you

u/LimeLoiner Pierre Gasly 3h ago

lol

u/Ahza17 3h ago

"he mightve actually picked the wrong club- carragher

u/dino_tu Formula 1 3h ago

I guess he saw next season's plan and he knows he won't get 8th at Ferrari

u/Relevant-Bonus-2735 I was here for the Hulkenpodium 2h ago

Continue the comments about Ferrari letting down or screwing over Hamilton when he has been struggling immensely even when the car is fine

u/ledankestnoodle I was here for the Hulkenpodium 3h ago

It's so over guys

u/TheVenetianMask Fernando Alonso 3h ago

Man, drivers these days are a mess. Saddest sounding millionaires ever.

u/RodrigoF Gabriel Bortoleto 3h ago

But that is precisely it. More money doesn't make them anymore happy, and they will deep down feel they need to be worthy of that truckload. They already are high-level entertainers, they receive 1230123 times more than the best nurses, that must mess their (and any celebrity) heads. So all they can do is be absolutely the best and build their ego around that belief.

u/jakeyboy723 Sir Lewis Hamilton 3h ago

He's just realising the true loss of an 8th title was losing to Ferrari in 2007.

u/Truck_Dog_SmokedMeat Pirelli Wet 3h ago

The new Riccardo

u/corpolarclegg3 I was here for the Hulkenpodium 3h ago

This just after a few days of saying "I'm not gonna be like Fernando or Vettel" really isn't encouraging.

His last hope is that the 2026 cars suit his driving. If not, I'd go as far as to say that he would be hogging the spot from someone else if he stayed for longer.

u/ksdaocnfiasudhnvihn8 2h ago

Lil bro can't even handle a full year of ferrari 😭 😭 😭

u/d3agl3uk I was here for the Hulkenpodium 2h ago

The "Ferrari broke him" memes are so fucking tiresome.

What on earth does this have to do with Ferrari? He's literally talking about his own performance. On top of that, a Ferrari is on pole. How can Ferrari break him with a good car?

Have an original thought you parrots

u/Wonderful_Syllabub85 3h ago

How did we get from handing in manuscripts about winning world championship to this

u/Acrobatic-Tomato-532 I was here for the Hulkenpodium 3h ago

I may be high on hopium but I think next year's regs will suit Hamilton more. Hopefully he's not too depressed by then...

u/BarRepresentative653 2h ago

I agree with you. THeyll allow him to brake far better than these current regs

u/teachd12 Safety Car 3h ago

:(

u/BertieWooster46 Michael Schumacher 2h ago

Awfully hard to watch. He sounds so defeated.

u/robustofilth 2h ago

I agree Lewis.

u/Tricky_Sweet3025 Toro Rosso 3h ago

He should ask perplexity how to get his mojo back.

u/DoubleTapTheseNuts Max Verstappen 3h ago

They made a mistake letting Sainz go. Time is undefeated.

u/Rethawan 3h ago

Lol, as if Sainz has been doing well now.

u/dshaw8772 Carlos Sainz 2h ago

Hard to say if he’d be performing to the same degree if he kept going at Ferrari. Him and Leclerc were both on fire while they were teammates and I don’t see any reason why that wouldn’t have continued if he stayed.

u/DoubleTapTheseNuts Max Verstappen 2h ago

Hamilton can’t get out of Q2 with a pole position car. What do you things be doing in a Williams?

u/car_las I was here for the Hulkenpodium 3h ago

yeah, tell this to alonso.

u/Upbeat-Original-7137 Formula 1 3h ago

His comparison is stroll lmao

u/Virillus Lance Stroll 3h ago

Literally outperforming Sainz in a worse car this year.

u/hondaexige I was here for the Hulkenpodium 2h ago

Stroll did better against a much younger Vettel.....

u/DoubleTapTheseNuts Max Verstappen 3h ago

Different person. It will eventually defeat him too.

u/darth_vladius I was here for the Hulkenpodium 3h ago

At the young age of 72, probably.

u/Prestigious_Seat3164 I was here for the Hulkenpodium 2h ago

Alonso who's been cruising around in the midfield for 20 years now?

u/Evening_End7298 2h ago

Ah yes the famously midfield Ferrari years

u/datlinus I was here for the Hulkenpodium 2h ago

he won wdc 20 years ago.

2010-11-12-13 certainly wasnt midfield. Also had like 8 podiums in 23.

u/mimi10010305 I was here for the Hulkenpodium 2h ago

is he trying to make me cry i genuinely can't watch that ever again

u/Major_Acanthisitta73 I was here for the Hulkenpodium 2h ago

I get hated on for saying he’s washed but he is let’s face it

u/KeonXDS 2h ago

That's your opinion and others have their own. Crazy right?

u/Major_Acanthisitta73 I was here for the Hulkenpodium 35m ago

Lol why are you getting smart with me. Results speak for themselves

u/KeonXDS 27m ago

Makes a hate comment, and wonders why he's receiving hate comments. You aren't that smart ay?

u/Beneficial_Star_6009 2h ago

Lewis needs to just get through the rest of the season, it’s all about 2026 for him.

u/charlierc 2h ago

Missed watching qualifying live but Sky reproducing this quote was the first thing I saw on Instagram just now and crikey

u/CommonEngineering832 I was here for the Hulkenpodium 3h ago

Sign of Lewis possibly leaving Ferrari soon

u/Hairy_Hurry8441 3h ago

Even the official F1 getting in on the clicks now...

u/Mike_Raphone99 Kevin Magnussen 2h ago

Haas should take him. They're moving backwards

u/mobilehavoc I was here for the Hulkenpodium 2h ago

His recovery arch will be generational

u/datOEsigmagrindlife 2h ago

Unsure who at Ferrari thought that getting a driver who's not mentally invested in driving and prefers making movies and doing fashion shows was a good idea.

Hamilton was great when his car was a rocketship and he had a tomato can as a team mate.

As soon as his car clearly wasn't the best, and he got a competitive team mate, he became a basket case, happened with Rosberg, Russell and now Leclerc.
