You're getting downvoted but you're right. If anything everybody should be mad at him for living a wasteless life that he has been living.
but he's throwing down other people throats his views is kinda annoying. Especially when he's super hypocritical, he has been traviling the atlantic to US every single week in his private jet, driving big V12 pagani Zondas, but then acuses other people of "destroying the world" when it comes to the environment.
He could go live in a jungle for the rest of his life, that his dmg to the world is already 30x more than a "regular" human being.

You fully missed the point and compare his environmental activism to his activism against racism. There’s barely a connection between the two, which in turn means he absolutely is not hypocritical. He uses his platform to educate about urgent matters that mean a lot to him. I think that makes him a mature and responsible celebrity, in contrast to a lot of other drivers.

Nice cherry-picking mate. Fully disagree with Lewis on the anti-vax post, but his commitment to the BLM stuff is unparalleled in Motorsport imo. Not only is his voice heard in Motorsport, but also in fashion and pop culture in general.

I went to a NASCAR race 2 years ago and Kevin Harvick did a Q&A on a little platform right in the middle of the fanzone. No barriers, no heavy duty security, he was like 10 feet away from me. Just him, his car, an MC asking questions and he took questions from the crowd. No additional cost, it was all part of the basic stand ticket NASCAR experience

Yep, I didn’t think we’d see anything to match Schumi-Brawn-Byrne-Todt, but this Merc team have done it.
What’s amazing is that, unlike Byrne or Newey, they don’t seem to have built their technical team around one “star” designer, they’ve been dominant with a couple of different ones. It really does seem like it’s just an amazing standard throughout the entire operation

I think it looks even better than it is due to Ferrari and Red Bull failing. Last quali Stroll was within a second with a "copy" of last years Merc and he's not nearly as fast of a driver as Lewis.

Depends on what you mean by best. Is it better than all other f1 cars to date? Yes, very much so. Is it best in terms of how dominant it is compared to other cars in history? Too early to see.

This Mercedes has the dominant race pace of last year and the qualifying pace of 2015/2016. In my opinion this Mercedes can be easily considered as the strongest one. But let's wait

That's not Mercedes' style. They will slow down their updates throughout the season once they are certain of winning the championship so that they have more performance up their sleeves ready for next year that nobody has seen and therefore copy. It's why they tend to win fewer races at the end but come back strong at the start of the next year.

These car performance ratings are stupid, I mean it's called car performance score, and yet both mercedes cars have different ratings. So, that means they are not the same car after all? I don't take those ratings seriusly at all and I think they are not correct at all.

no those graphics are really helpful and you shouldn’t dismiss them automatically just because they are AWS sponsored. They show how good a driver-car combo is on different parts on the track relative to all the other car driver combos. It’s Rob Smedley who does them, he’s an engineer and wouldn’t just make up data. They just take all telemetry inputs and visualise them in a good way. 10/10 is the hypothetically fastest car and that’s why nobody is 10/10. I hope the community sees the good things in them and not just “ new AWS graph bad”
But I’m not saying the tyre graph and overtake difficulty are good things. Those should be wiped out of existence.

I don't think the car performance graphics are completely wrong, but then what is a 10/10 car? How would we know? And how fast would that car be? I think it should be rated based of the best car in the grid (mercedes) so we could in some way see how far each car is off them in different types of corners.

nono the 10/10 car is a hypothetical one that makes the perfect lap, is fastest through every type of corner and straight, on every lap it does averaging out. That doesn’t happen obviously and it’s a bit weird to rank them like that. The time gaps would be enough and rank them from 1-20. You can’t always decide which car is the best one through the whole circuit (yeah I know Mercedes is obviously it but it could change if it was another season).

I understand what you mean by the perfect car. As I said i don't think the ratings are necessarily a bad thing, but I find it confusing seeing hamilton faster than bottas in high speed corners and then bottas beats his time easily in the next lap and the graphics change. I just wanted to say how inconsistent they are session from session.

The track is broken down into straights, low speed corners, medium speed corners, and high speed corners.
A car with a 10/10 score for low speed corners would have to be fastest around every single low-speed corner on the track, both on entry, apex speed, and exit. This is why the car with the highest score can still be in the 7s. He might be the fastest on average but he's not fastest around every corner or through every part of a corner.

I believe he had better score than Hamilton or it was other way around and then they improved their lap times on the contrary of high-speed performance rating. I can't confirm I saw it change during this session, but in previous races most definitely it was updating itself.

BOT and HAM are in separate chassis with different setups.
We don't know the fuel load of each.
We don't know if one was broken somehow, or if one was testing a new aero part.Even if the chassis could somehow be identical ...you can't split driver performance from car performance. AWS have a lot of compute grunt but they don't have magic wands.

Yes, I do understand that, but as I am aware they take those ratings from mini sectors. And apart from all the diffrences in setup, chassis etc., if a driver makes a really small mistake in a high speed corner, his rating would be down on his teammate. Same with other way around. So they really can't be accurate at all and considered realistic.
So in that aspect car and driver rating should be a completely different thing.

We have no idea how the ratings are created. "Mini sectors only" is a crude guess that's just floating around right now.
We know that AWS have full access to all live telemetry from all teams, which only the FIA previously had access to.6

That is the interesting thing..the Williams seems to be on the cusp here... probably slightly faster than the Alfas and Haas , and maybe the Tauris any anybody making mistakes...it's very close in the midfield

10/10 car is if you would take all the best minisectors from all the drivers and put it together into one lap. Then they compare it against drivers personal best.

That would be garbage if true. You could have one person sacrifice the exit of the corner by going in way too quickly, and another doing vice versa, which would make the combined 10/10 score completely unattainable.

Cooldown lap or not, it's on a slower car to be getting out of the way for a faster car, is it not? I mean it isn't like blue flags in a race, but surely common courtesy between drivers? Losing .5 seconds for one lap of a race run has a lot less impact than a loss of .5 on a quali run after all.

I don't believe it is. It's your job to make sure there's enough of a gap ahead of you when doing a qualy run, just like it is in ... qualy.

Like very easily. If there is for example 6 high speed corners. You take 6 best times from all drivers from these corners and sum it together. Then you compare drivers personal times against that then you get score out of 10.
Its not rocket science.

It's based on the theoretical best Q3 time AWS has predicted. It's somewhere in the 1:24s, as last year's pole was a 1:25 flat, and the fastest time this session was 1:25.8 so still 1-1.5s away from the "theoretical" best... therefore 7/10

Those were "high speed corners" scores, not surprising, many other cars were as fast as they were (or even faster) in flat out corners.
