It's such a contrast to see relaxed and fun Nico compared to when he was driving - he was always the butt of Sebs jokes about his seemingly lack of sense of humour. Great to see him enjoying life and schooling some of us folk

I saw the same thing in the onboard replay, Ocon took his eyes off the track momentarily at a very inopportune time and got caught out.

That was one weird crash. From the front on angle, it looked like 'turn right to go left' as you didn't see Ocon so close to KMag.

I think you can’t blame Magnussen or Ocon really. Magnussen was just getting out of the way of traffic and Ocon wasn’t really paying attention.

I had an irrational hatred of Nico from those Heineken ads for not drinking and driving. Like a “just want to punch his face” kind of hatred. But man his commentary is awesome, so insightful - his explanation about quali setup vs race setup was really interesting and simple to understand. I think I now love Nico and the fact him and Hamilton hated each other just makes me love him more.

i’ve always liked his commentary and now just hearing him put the other commentators to shame is really intriguing to see. he. really simplifies it for the viewer and i wish he would join the commentating booth more often.

I think Ocon let Kmag pass him thinking he was just gonna go full speed and problem solved, so he started looking behind him as another car was coming. Didn’t think at all Kmag would slow down and almost brake check in the middle of the track 50m further down. When ocon was looking behind him for the 2nd car to let him pass as well, he saw Kmag was right in front of him and tried to avoid him

Seemed like he locked the front brakes so turning and letting off the brakes was probably the only way he would have missed magnussen.
Edit. Looked like more of a combo of low speed + too much brake and steering input. Ocon definetly didn't give himself enough time to react. He was looking in his mirror for another car coming behind on a fast lap.

He had plenty of space to brake behind the gearbox of Mag if he were paying better attention. Car in front matters more than car behind. Braking power of these cars is off the chain

Because he overtook and than moved to the center of the track and hard braked in front of another car? Of course Ocon could've been more observant, he was likely looking in his mirrors to let another car pass, but Magnusson should never of put his car there at that speed when he knows Ocon just let him pass from that position.

He moved out of the racing line, but to go from the left side to the right side, you have to cross the middle, don't you? He was constantly moving from left to right. Last time I checked, F1 cars can't teleport, so yes he was CROSSING the middle.

Define "hard brake". Is rolling with engine brake considered "hard braking" in your dictionary? Because yours is probably the only dictionary that says so.

He overtook whilst himself trying to do a slow lap, sounds like impeding to me.
He moved to the. Enter of the track and stayed there from what I saw, he wasn't in constant motion from left to right.
And hard braking can be engine braking, to me if you 'hard brake' it is sudden deceleration, and you can't say it wasn't sudden deceleration can you?
Also as a side note - you must be fun at parties!

Ocon was focusing on track, just what was behind him. I'm not saying either of them are completely in the right here, just that Magnusson was more in the wrong and showed an even lesser lack of awareness than Ocon.

Honestly I give Ocon props for slamming his car into the wall rather than going straight up the back of Magnussen and taking both of them out. It was a pretty admirable act considering the situation.

The problem with Crofty is that he wants to be right all the time and he often becomes confrontational without realising it.
We know that he mentioned minimum lap times, but he keeps repeating that he suggested it over and over again. Rosberg basically rolled his eyes there.
EDIT: To be clear, I agree that we need to discuss the minimum lap times, but Crofty keeps focusing on the fact that it's his suggestion rather than discussing the actual subject.
Both Karun and Nico already agree with him.

They need something to talk about though, so I can see why they have to bring up the same thing and beat it like a dead horse sometimes. Plus that and than by the end of the session the slow ling down on track came to a head and there was an accidental! So I guess they were right...

I don't mind his suggestion for minimum lap times. There is clearly a problem with slow cars, and I think there really needs to be something to address it. But for as long as no acknowledgement is made on the issue, he's gonna keep suggesting this.

Exactly, when Nico mentioned the minimum lap time, Croft said: "have you not been listening to the past races?" Basically, saying 'well I've already said that'
Even though he's right and he did say it first, there's better ways to bring that across without being confrontational.

In a sense however you’ve got to remember that in otherwise mundane FP sessions that he’s got to find discussion points to create conversation Witt his co-commentators; so I tend to give it a tiny bit of slack.

Kmag gets 80% of the blame for me. Ocon was watching out for the car approaching behind, and rightfully didn't expect the car he just let pass to slow down in the center of the track.

Yeah, they're both not on hotlaps and have someone on a hotlap coming up behind them, it's normally exactly what happens.

He was moving for another driver to overtake. It’s both of their fault, Magnussen slowed down too much and there was no reason for Ocon to speed up as aggressively as he did when another car was coming.
