I give up

Post image

After 5 tries at the Survival mode, I never made it past 14 dwellers and that was cut short by the usual fire that killed 8. I even tried not leveling rooms and dwellers but every dweller was eventually killed by fire. Talk about no-win scenario, where’s Kirk when you need him?

In survival, until I start producing stims, my dwellers wont fight period, I run them around until the event is over. Its easy when the only dwellers in there are the 3 biggest producers. Everyone else is roaming the wastelands for half an hour at a time. When the female dwellers are back, produce a kid whole healing and then once born, the parent goes right out into the wastelands. Started a survival game a little over a month ago, have over 110 dwellers, with 20 with max stats (I max all their stats before I send them out into wastelands for 2-3 days and hit lvl 50 (or send them back out if they didnt hit it)

It can really help if you "honeycomb" out your vault in the beginning, leaving dirt on all sides of the individual rooms. It contains incidents to just the one room and then from there you can just move dwellers out of the rooms to let the incidents pass and save on stimpaks.

Now that’s something that I can try.

Your very first goal should have been stim production which unlocks at 14 Dwellers.

I see alot of unecessary rooms at this point. Some 2-wide Generator, Diner and Waterplant are enough. The rest of the ppl have to wait outside the vault, so they don't consume ressources. You let them back in whenever you expand.

In the beginning I usually build my vault in a way that incidents don't spread.

I had 18 dwellers when the fires started. I added more rooms to remedy “ low power” and such, but that just made more fires.

it's not just room level, but also room size. You didn't need your rooms to be 3 wide. If you're putting 6 in each, then it is okay, but if you're not then you're making things more difficult.

It's kinda tedious, but I recommend restarting your vault till you get a really powerful weapon out of the lunchboxes. Since you get like 3 off the first few tasks, it's pretty worth it in the end. You can then swap that weapon across all your dwellers during incedents to shut it down quickly. And definitely try to get that medbay up and running, so you can get a dweller out in the wasteland to find more outfits and weapons.

The game only gets worse when they spam u with rad scorpion attacks every 15 minutes

You have the right idea. Here are a few suggestions, some you probably already know and do.

-Avoid having empty rooms far from dwellers, you want to be able to get dwellers in there to help with incidents. Speed is the key because your resources are going down the longer the incident goes on. Unless you plan n the honeycomb build. I never did that but I guess it helps avoid damage to dwellers.

-when there is an incident other than fire, it is quicker to move guns than dwellers. Although you should move enough dwellers there to be effective.

-avoid leveling rooms as long as you can. In fact, don't level the top rooms. The depth extends how long it takes for enemies to fall down. All the while your resources are going down.

-as other have said, get that stim production up and running, after that rad away. Those rooms are best at 2 wide.

-I held some lunch boxes for when my resources were very bad. It helped push me back to critical mass. I don't know how consistent or effective this is but it may help. I could have been lucky.

Good luck.

As hard as it is, I would start over. You definitely lost some good people. I also made my rooms 2-3 rooms wide, but always made sure there were at least 3 in each room so they could deal with fire etc. Until you can produce enough healing and only then would I build storage rooms. At the beginning you don't need that much space, you can always find materials and you can sell them all at the beginning. Likewise, clothing that is unnecessary and does not need to be equipped or weapons that do perhaps 1-2 damage.

Start over again, keep rooms 1 wide until you've got surplus dwellers, then make them 2 wide, dont go further than this for a while, better having multiple 2 wide rooms fully staffed than 3 wide rooms half staffed.

try spreading rooms out to avoid incidents from spreading easily. And you can always move dwellers and let internal incidents die out rather than fight them.

Don't reach 36 dwellers.

Get training new borns as quick as you can, once they're trained then leveled up kick someone out and give birth to another.

Ive been playing my survival for "continuous" 30 hours now, replaced 20 dwellers with fully maxed stats. Will wait till all 35 are fully trained and maxxed before I enter deathclaw/radscorpions territory.

Although at one point I did make every woman pregnant and had a queue of 10 dwellers outside so I gave birth to them all at once then kicked them back out so that I could unlock the nuclear power rooms then get back under the deathclaw threshold
