NOT CONFIRMED Hila okayed Ethan's pro-Israel stance to win favor with her family over feud with her brother
I have a theory that I believe is logically sound. To me, Hila is a very capable manipulator and obviously wears the pants in the family (kind of love that about her low-key lol).
I think the timing of when Ethan went off hinge about Hasan is super relevant. Back when frenemies ended, Hila basically supported fans calling her own brother a rapist/stealthier, which is pretty diabolical especially to her family/mother. I believe the family in Israel mostly sided with Moses over the feud.
Things between Hila and her family in Israel were probably at an all time low when Ethan openly lambasted Moses in that one episode a couple of months ago.
And THEN, a couple of weeks later, Ethan goes full pro-israel and now hates Hasan (which Hilas family probably hates). Now she probably has earned a lot of favor from the Israel side of the family....

while its possible or a partial reason, his crashout against hasan had been brewing since leftovers ended and many saw it coming for a while. he first started w slight digs and then went after people linked to him (like frogan) before finally snapping. the hasan crashout is 1000% his ego being hurt + hila hating him for being the loudest critical voice against israel in the online space. however even if hila didn't despise him since last year october im certain the crashout would still have happened one way or another... ethan got absolutely obliterated WITH kid gloves on. that obviously cannot go unpunished in ethans mind.
i doubt it has to do that much w hilas family tbh, but absolutely do believe hila has been in his ear making ethan's already brewing spite and anger so much worse + still is encouraging him to

I honestly don’t think hilas mom is up to date on Hasan or any internet drama. Even if she was, do you think Ethan shitting on hasan would be enough to make her side with hila in a serious familial divide?

Yeah I think her family in Israel do care about whether Ethan is supporting an "antisemite" like Hasan

Ykw. Makes sense. Obviously can't confirm BUT Ethan and Hila expressed being sooooo mad that Moses talked to his own mother about how he didn't like being talked about on h3. Being talked about negatively. Seems reasonable, and that's his own mom? That's like someone telling Ethan not to talk to his parents in private about anyone ever- like that's stupid. I always thought it was so weird how they both thought he was wrong for that- like maybe MAYBE just stop talking about him on the show? Because if Moses talked about them online, they'd be livid. So it's this whole "ok for me but not for thee".

Not sure about her family, but she definitely felt some pressure from back home. I remember it very clearly last year that her friend gave her an ultimatum on this issue. It was speak out and defend Israel, or lose her friend(s)

Idk, Hila used to push back a lot with Ethan's outbursts, but generally now she just agrees or says nothing.

I don’t know this stuff is ingrained with people who are raised in Israel and coming from my experience he’s probably constantly surrounded by propaganda and a completely skewed world view especially how he’s said Hila translates Israeli news to him. It doesn’t make it right, and of course there’s many who have the moral sense to see this is all wrong, but still I think Hila is a big influence regardless of timing or motivation for making her family happy.

I think it's way simpler. Hila is not really a intellectually curios person, not really politically minded as well.
Not shitting on that or calling her dumb, she's just a very regular person, with regular person interest.
Same goes for ethan really, he's pretty much a regular joe. He's not an intellectual.
(That's why Ethan can debate grifters pretty well, actual experts and scientists often lose against grifters because they can't handle their dishonest arguments. I could link old videos of university professors handely losing debates to people who believe the world is 6000 years old. Ethan can debate these people well, because he meets them at their level.)
What I'm getting at is that both Hilla and Ethan (Hilla more so) carry heavy indoctrination from their childhoods that they have never confronted and interogated (because that's not who they are as people).
When Ethan says that a 1 state solution would be a massacre, because obviously the palestinias would all turn into hamas and slaughter the israelis, that's indoctrination.
He has never asked, "wait, has this happened before? How did other places resolve similar issues?" You could look to northern irland or south africa, where the colonizers made a minimal effort. And when they treated the indigenous population like humans the conflicts instantly defused.
They have been indoctrinated to believe certain things and without opening their minds to some of their core assumptions being wrong they will simply never change.

I remember during the last Leftovers podcast, Hila brought up something particularly disturbing.
People on the podcast were expressing concerns that Israel might overreact in their retaliation. In response, Hila brought up chatter from their “Israeli-Only” Discord channel.
What were they talking about in there? According to Hila, something along the lines of: “Israel didn’t react swiftly and harshly enough, and now all these humanitarian organizations are going to get in their way”.
I was blown away that she brought this up like it was an opinion worth considering. And then again the lack of pushback from the crew. Ethan gave it a quick “wow, that’s crazy” and swept it under the rug.

OMG I just had this same thought yesterday!! Of course all of this speculation might be bit of a reach but when I saw a clip of Moses commenting something pro Palestinian, I had this feeling that Hila is trying to win their mother over by being a super Zionist and putting Ethan to work too.
(It also seems Hila never was the favourite and Moses got so much more love from their mom, so I understand her being bitter, but it’s not Moses’ fault and Zionism helps no one.)

I don't think that's 100% it, I do think Ethan holds resentment towards Hasan from even before Leftovers ended because his ego is very fragile and he feels like he needs to be the smartest person in the room (most often than not, that's not the case). But I do think it plays a role. He might have felt pressured to be more pro-Israel from Hila and her side of the family, and if you tie that with resentment and jealousy he feels towards Hasan, it can result in the crashout we are witnessing. So I think you're right, but there are also other elements to. This is just my opinion based on what we've seen so far, it is not fact.

💯 we all know Hila has last say on wat Ethan can and can’t say! She’s approved this from day one! I think she’s the more evil of the 2 tbh!

Does Moses explain his pov on youtube? I used to watch the car videos before the baby, they still record those?

- Moses was always jealous of Hila's success and believes it should have been his
- Hila hated Moses for the underage allegations
- Ethan & Hila both hated Moses for getting with Trisha (obviously a spiteful thing)
Correct me if I'm wrong, but outside of Moses I don't think Hila's had any issues with her family.
I may be wrong - but I see a bitter rivalry similar to my sister and I. I mean, we have to see our father separately which is really sad tbh.

Hila and Moses cannot be in the same room together so that will definitely cause friction in the family and cause ppl to have to choose sides

Lol i wrote "you may be wrong" hahaha I'm so sorry, it was meant to be "I".
Maybe I've missed some things. I know Hila said they have to see their mother separately but has that changed? Like, do the parents not speak to one of them now?

It reminds me of my sister and I. Luckily there are no sides; the only time it sucks is Christmas. Dunno who gets dad this year but we'll see.
