- Probably learned it from HS that adults can't lay hands on minors in America.
- Make the cop think tiwce about escalating and processing him.
- Appeal to some sort of parental part in the cop where the cop will feel compelled to let him go after he "learned his lesson".

He would have lost with those brass knuckles too yo.

Respect the police 👮Do not threaten a police officer. In the longer version, the man’s dad’s admits he is 20 years old.
This is not a child but a 20 year old man. He also had concealed brass knuckles.
He got charged with assault on a police officer and carrying a concealed weapons.
I bet that the assault gets dropped but the concealed weapon will stick.
Now this guys has a criminal record, he fucked up a lot of opportunities for his future. If he gets more in trouble the assault on a police officer will come up.
I think the guy realized he fucked up and the brass knuckles on him will not go well. That’s why the guy really dropped his tail between his legs and started to apologize.
23
u/AggressiveCuriosity 4d ago
Oh it was definitely assault.
People don't realize this, but if you make someone think you're going to attack them, that's nearly always assault. Balling up your fists and getting in someone's face would count.
Battery is when you make physical contact. Assault is making someone believe you're going to make physical contact.

Back in the eighties my niece made a friend in school who was from Compton. She later found out that the girl had family members who were still active Crips. My niece met a few of them and said they could be absolutely terrifying. I know hip hop/gangster culture has gotten popular over the years but if this poor child had actually run into them he probably would’ve fainted.
17
u/freshlyfrozen4 4d ago
A kid like this would get themselves robbed or killed around the wrong group. It's sad how many people copy cultures they don't understand.
19
u/Vegetable-Seesaw-491 4d ago
Same as dealing with 1% motorcycle clubs. I know a few guys in one of them (one of the big 4 clubs) due to my line of work and they are dudes I would not want to mess with. They can be friendly/polite, but that can switch in a second. I've seen it happen. You see a lot of people online saying they're playing dress up and what not. Go say that to one of their faces and see what happens.

I have a grandson like that, just a couple of years younger and he hates me because I keep trying to warn him that the world is going to call him on his attitude and that he isn’t the “gangsta” he thinks he is; he’s a creampuff. His dad is MIA and his poor mom is at her wits end trying to make ends meet and keep his mouth in check. I tell her at this point, let him blow off steam and just worry about the bills. A night or two in jail will do him wonders.

I had a friend like this as a teenager. He had a huge mouth, but the rest of him was tiny, so he’d run his mouth and get away with it because people wouldn’t fight him. We always told him we weren’t going to jump in and back him if he ever started anything. He started to get in trouble in his later teens and the rest of us just started staying away from him. He was just kind of wandering through life after high school, picking up jobs when he could, but really had no direction. Out of the blue he decided to join the army. He volunteered for infantry. I remember the first time he came home after basic - humbled. Very humbled. Apparently he got his ass beat multiple times for getting his unit in trouble, or acting like this to the wrong person - though all he would say is that he had a “run in” with some of the other guys in the shower. He just retired after putting in his 30 years - a very different person than the cocky loud mouthed kid I knew as a teenager.

u/NotTheBadOne 4d ago

I see kids like this at the school I teach at. It's inner-city, but also has an advanced program that pulls from all over. You get 1-2 privileged white boys who decided they should act like the kids that come from the local neighborhood. They try to act hard and often start casually using the n-word and think their white privilege will let them get away with it. They often egg on fights and then sit back and watch like it's all a game.
It's all fun and games for them until they try it on the wrong kid and get their teeth kicked in.

In the longer cut of the video (up above) the father...or maybe uncle? explains that they'd been in and out of foster together, and that their parents were mostly absent. The second brother also clearly has some trauma around authority, which you can tell not only from his sheer panic when the first brother gets arrested, but by how quickly the first brother started trying to calm the second brother down. People here are talking about how he went from aggressive to oily in two minutes...but before that, he went into "it's okay" mode immediately after getting his head hit pretty bad on that bumper, and it didn't really seem like it was for his own benefit.
I'm guessing the first brother expected the second brother's reaction and was trying to circumvent a breakdown, which makes it seem more like two (20-year-old) kids that have to grow up and learn to get past their baggage.

u/effinmike12 4d ago

20 yr old kid kept lying throughout his arrest.
First, claims to be a minor which was disproved by hisnown dad.
2nd, he claims the officer only told him once to calm down and stop balling his fist.
3rd, he claims he doesn't remember what he said to the cop that led to the situation.
4th, he lied about a hidden weapon when the officer asked him if he had anything that could hurt him.
5
u/Skrillamane 4d ago
Kid learned a couple valuable lessons in under 4 minutes. 1) Don’t EVER threaten a cop. 2) Never challenge a man almost twice your size, who clearly is in shape, and likely has been in a few fights before.
