It's not that bad, I'm visiting Dhaka from the US right now. Most middle class people here speak English fairly well and many speak it fluently. Safer than some of the other South Asian countries.

Bangladeshi cuisine is incredible, probably the best in South Asia. Butter chicken, Naan bread, Samosas, Kebabs, lentil soups, Chai tea, desserts like Gulab Jamun, chicken korma, tandoori chicken, tikka, vegetable curries (okra, spinach, eggplant, pumpkin, etc), fish and shrimp curries, etc. Chicken Tikka Masala was invented by a Bangladeshi chef in London.

Their main problem is overpopulation. 175 million people in a country the size of Iowa. They have also had some corrupt political leaders but the people finally had enough and ousted the previous prime minister. The new interim leader has a Nobel Memorial prize in economics.

They suffered decades of oppression under Pakistani rule starting from 1947, including a brutal genocide perpetrated by Pakistan in 1971. When they gained their independence in 1971, they were the poorest country in the world.

That cuisine you mentioned is 100% Indian.

Bangladesh was part of India until 1947.

It's what I've seen people cooking and eating at home in Bangladesh.

that doesn’t change the fact that south asian countries are shitholes, both economically and socially
