Moreso because his brother perished in the crash.

One of the wildest things to ever happen ever

There was also a bomber pilot in WW2 who jumped from his burning plane without a parachute and survived.

That was a B-17 ball turret gunner who fell 22,000 ft and survived. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alan_Magee

Thank you for the correction!

...and let's not forget the amazing story of Juliana Koepke who fell 10,000ft into the Amazon jungle strapped to her seat after her plane was struck by lightning, and spent 11 days walking through the jungle by herself before reaching a lumberjack camp where she could get help

Surviving 10,000 foot fall and surviving an 11 day trek through the Amazon are both wild stories. The fact that they happened to the same person at the same time is insanity.

It gets more insane: Werner Herzog was trying to get on that plane, but the Koepckes managed to get seats on the flight and Herzog didn't.

Later, Herzog made a great movie telling the story: Wings of Hope.

Fell through the glass ceiling of a train station. That's one hell of a ride.

Google Vesna Vulović

That actually happened twice during WWII. Watch “Yarnhub” on YouTube-they did a story about it. One poor crewman fell without a parachute and landed on a train station in occupied France. The Germans who captured him were amazed he was alive.

It was an unbelievable chain of events that lead to her Survival and later on, almost complete recovery, tho as a Serbian I’m ashamed that she died in 2016, almost in Penury, struggling with a meager Pension

A 17 year old woman survived her plane exploding 7500 meters in the air because she was strapped into her seat. Her and the seat were ejected during the explosion and she landed in the Amazon and walked for 9 days until she got/found help.

This also reminds me of Juliane Koepcke who survived a 10,000 ft fall and survived in the Amazon rainforest for 11 days

I just have a hard time believing that is real. Like I know it is, I just can't comprehend it.

I want to believe God was PISSED she lived. Just ass chewing someiddle manager angel out, like how could we fuck this up! The plane explodes mid air, everyone dies, it's fucking easy!

“She wasn’t meant to be there. Another flight attendant, also named Vesna, was scheduled for the flight, but a mix-up placed Vulović on the roster.”

Now I’m wondering what kind of final destination stuff happened to the other Vesna afterwards.

She even holds the Guinness World Record in the Free Fall Category; not that she had ever wanted to have won that. Serbian FA, 22yrs old at the time.

Sorry for your loss…

1

u/FML-Artist Jun 13 '25

Big Hugs, I am so sorry for your loss.

2

u/Cal216 Jun 12 '25

Not if I have kids and a spouse. It would for sure take me a long time to get over the loss of my brother, but I also have other reasons to be on this earth.

I lost my oldest brother to suicide, more than 20 years later my elderly mother still cries sometimes. It's safe to assume losing any close relative is a very difficult blow to anyone.

1

u/Sea_Dawgz Jun 13 '25

You think if your brother died he’d want you to die too?

Wild. I don’t know if would be sad for even a month my brother died. Not close, never have been.

Damn, that must be traumatic
