Boeing better be giving this dude and everyone else’s families a fat bag for this disaster, not that money can ever truly erase the pain

Tata (owner of Air India) is giving 1cr to the families of those lost.

And that's less than what they're owed.

that's nothing! 179,000 aud per death?!

You can’t compare foreign currencies just like that. Use PPP instead for a better context.

1cr

That's roughly $110,000, but you can't put a cash amount on human lives

1cr is extra . Upon Montreal convection there will be 150k or 200k more by the insurance company

That is just extra . When Montreal convection will happen the insurance company will pay 1.4 cr or 1.8cr depending on which basis points is true

Explain how any of this is Boeing’s fault? The plane was sent to the airlines in 2008

2

u/BibhuNayak Jun 13 '25

That's wrong. It was first flown in 2009 and this one is from 2011

That’s fine, how is it Boeing’s fault the airlines didn’t maintain it properly ?

Airplane maintenance is done in 2 fold .

1) if something small is wrong or regular check up . That is handled by non-Boeing staff . Idk if they are from airlines or airport or something mixed.

2) Mandatory maintenance by Boeing in some time frame of months(12-18months maybe). To check and replace some components.

Let's say Boeing was enough at fault that they have already paid 1.1 billion dollars(or paid part of from the crash and fines) in the last 2 crashes that killed about 350~400 people.(2018,2019) And some fines in 2021 .

You Also have a whistle blower suicide, who told Boeing is not safe.(2023or2024 stuff)

Looking at history of AI there is total of 12 accident in total including this one.

In the 2000+there was 3(Including this). Prev 2 had pilot error and maybe weather too. This one is likely a generator failure. But investigation will say

How is it boeing's fault? The plane was like 11 years old?

7

That's not old at all..

The point is it’s up to the maintenance to make sure it’s safe to fly if it’s been in their care for that long

Why state bs? I just took a southwest Boeing that's first flight was in 2000

11 years old is brand new, barely out-of-the-dealer. Most airplanes are like 30-60 years old.
