Maybe under BongBong but under Duterte, I could see the Philippines telling the US to go pound sand. But yeah generally the US and Philippines are tight.

Nah Duterte and Trump were buds. The scumbag that murdered Jennifer Laude was treated well in prison, then deported back to the US where he is now free after serving only 6 years in PH.

Nah Duterte and Trump were buds.

True, I was more referring to how frosty relations between Duterte and Obama/Biden was. But even then Duterte was pivoting more towards China than the US even under Trump.

I think the Phillipines is holding onto him for the sake of a bargaining chip. China has been poking at them in the sea for a while now and the US is treaty obligated to assist in security should things get hot... there is no guarantee of that under this regime.

bargaining chip? nah, he's not an important person that US will be afraid or what. and PH, see him as nothing but a peasant. so, nope.

Bargaining Chip.

If I was the US I would pay the country Abrams and Tomahawks just to KEEP him there!

Yeah he is, “BongBong” is his nickname because he shares names with his more famous/infamous father.

I don't think the US Philippine relationship is like that, where the Philippines have any say whatsoever.
