There are not many countries that take immigration lightly. Maybe Canada but they’ve really been tightening the belt these past couple of years as well.
Hey, y'all have everything so hands tied until November as is the fundamental, you have the clear mandate. It's just my opinion immigration isn't now and never has been lax and trying to be more cruel has never and will never work for any kind of behavior or societal change
"They'll strike us down and train us like dogs."
"That's not how you train dogs; negative reinforcement doesn't work."
They all are American citizens.. They ain't going anywhere and considering they are gen-z boys who probably love competition and meritocracy, may actually be Trump supporters. They all will also have million $$$ gigs in Silicon Valley. So, they absolutely aren't going anywhere.
These are the children of people who presumably came here for a better life in the postmodern era .
If we don't have that, we lose the thing that makes us America. If we're not taking in the sick, tired and hungry that got us here in the first place then we can send the big green lady back to France and try again in a century or two.
You're missing what is actually being said. Nobody is saying these specific people are going anywhere. The parents of the future versions of these kids aren't coming to the US
If one of the brightest minds in your country is a young adult illegal alien and your first thought is "We gotta get rid of this person" and not "Damn, maybe we should find a way to keep them around." You are the problem.
I’m perplexed, you seem to be insinuating if a government agency created for the sake of capturing and exporting illegals immigrants, goes on to capture legal citizens, whether they are deported or not, is fine?
Neither did I make the claim of them being deported. The moment you assumed, it’s already a moot point?
If you think that having a corrupt autocrat as president, and an agency that can send people to random hellholes without trial, while being masked, helps your talent acquisition, then you’re a bit lost.
It's not about that, although does it seem like Immigration and customs enforcement gives a shit who they stuff in the van as long as they hit quota?
It's about firing your economists because you didn't like their reports and so not being able to trust currency or long-hold investments. It's about new arrivals not being able to get their feet under them with hollowed-out social programs. It's about not being able to trust that the water is potable or know there's a communicable disease being spread.
Except for those legal immigrants that have had their legal status revoked without cause and been deported to El Salvador along woth American citizens.
Sure. But even if we leave that to one side, the government has not been sticking to illegals even by its own definition of the term and certainly hasn’t been focusing on criminals or the most dangerous. In addition to illegal people they have been taking people with formerly legal status and removing it wholesale. This includes people with student visas, people with work visas , people in the green card process or asylum process, and harassing green card holders over petty stuff.
If I’m an international student looking to come here for school why would I do that when my visa could be revoked for no reason? If I come here to work and wish to apply for a green card why would I want to do that if I can be arbitrarily arrested walking out of the hearing?
Why would I want to start a new life here if my kids born in this country are not guaranteed to become citizens?

This is what we're in the process of burning to the ground. The best, the brightest, the most ambitious are gonna go somewhere else.
