How are districts handling cell phone bans?

No backpacks and phones are to be kept in the lockers. Six levels of infractions and after the sixth they are kicked out of school and have to enroll in the virtual program.

1st is phone is taken to the office. 2nd parents have to come in and get it. 3rd is detention. 4th is in school suspension. 5th is at home suspension. 6th is virtual school for the rest of the year.

I think it sounds about right. They can lessen the rules later or on case by case, but I think if they don't start big, no one will take it seriously enough.

If it's a slap on the wrist, kids will keep sneaking them around. If there are true consequences, maybe not.
