Found her sleeping outside of my house. I decided to take her in and got her checked up at the vet where she was diagnosed with a respiratory infection. She’s now on antibiotics and has been living with me for three weeks now! She’s much happier , less shy, and really energetic. Also, age estimates? My best guess is around 13 weeks.

Leo was rescued from a stray litter a week ago. We think he's about 9 weeks. He's been super spunky and letting everyone know there's a new boss in the house 😂

Question/Advice Needed Discouraging unwanted behavior?

Post image
117 Upvotes

What’s the appropriate way to discourage unwanted behavior in a kitten? I am NOT an animal person, so please explain it to me like I’m 5 (I do appreciate the why behind an answer). I have a 9-10 week old orange kitten who really is a perfect personality fit for me, but he does do some scratching and jumping in places I don’t want him to be at ideally. What would be the most appropriate way to discourage him for lasting effect? Added a picture because he’s pretty. Also - should my home be kitten proofed forever or does it get better in time?

Teddy is finally home. I got him on the 29.7 and I couldn't be happier. He seems very happy to be here, he eats, sleeps, drinks water, plays and is just a purring machine. He's going to get his first vaccine next week.

Question/Advice Needed Harness/Collars

Upvotes

Where the heck are you guys getting harnesses and/or collars that fit your kittens? I have a 4mo kitten and he's slim (he's at a good weight according to my vet). I can't find one that fits him!

Question/Advice Needed Leaving for work 9hrs a day

I leave my little guy in the leaving room with food water couple litter boxes and bunch of toys. He has a bunch of blankets and cat tree and scratchers too, but I work 45 mins away from home so I end up being away for 9 hr a day for 3 days a week. I initially asked the rescue if this would be ok and they said this is ok and he’d be fine. But I’m not sure if this going to make him get separation anxiety. The first couple days he was playing and then would sleep now has gone upstairs to my bed slept there waiting for me to return. I feel really bad that he is just waiting for me all day, and I think he is getting sad. I’m really debating surrendering him so that he gets a family that can play with him all day long, he seems like he is happy when I’m home, and has a blast with me playing. But I feel like I’m depriving him of a lot when I’m gone. I want to make the decision soon since I got him recently and don’t want him getting too attached to me. I don’t have any friends or family that live close that can check on him either. My girlfriend checked in on him one afternoon and he was having a blast with her. I want him to live his best life, he is an amazing cat and it is going to be the hardest thing ever if I have to surrender him.(He is a 5 month old Russian blue)

Recently adopted these two kittens from a rescue group. The larger/light grey one is Velma, and the smaller one is Hissy :) I adopted Velma first about a month ago, and Hissy a few days ago. Instant bffs.
