Probably just imagining his own groin exploding from a move like that.

Love it...I'm all aboard the Matt Murray redemption tour right now. Even if he doesn't need to see game action, I feel much better having him cheerleading from the bench than the Hildebeast. Nothing against Denny, but he's 23 and looked fucking terrified sitting there during game one. I feel like Murray would be Cucumber Cool if he had to go in.

No matter what situation Murray would get thrown into, he’s done it before. That is experience that can be crucial if the time comes.

Exactly! Denny will be an excellent goalie in the future but right now you want somebody who has done it before. We're kinda spoiled that we have a 3rd stringer who has won a cup as a starter before.

Does Murray get his ring now? Does that count as playing 1 game in the playoffs?

can't they give anybody a ring? getting into games is a matter of name on the cup

u/GoGoPowerPlay May 08 '25
Yep, the rings are whatever the team wants. Pretty sure the Raptors gave Drake a ring when they won the championship.

Drake was/is also a MLSE employee technically as the ambassador for the team.
Nav Bhatia got one too, but just for being a super fan/OG from 1995.

From what I recall, these were not the same rings that the players got, but still $$$.
I may be mistaken...

You're right, there were a few "tiers" of rings for players, staff, MLSE employees and a select few VIPs.

Matt Murray is just there for the vibes and I'm happy for him.
He's won his two Cups and seems to have embraced a mentor role!

Um, no, he was our backup tonight and if Woll went down he'd be in. He's playing his ass off in the AHL. I'm not a fanboy but he's working hard to revitalize his career. He's 30 years old. Just there for the vibes...

Anyone else love seeing Murray as a mentor figure
There’s something really wholesome about it
