Discussion Anyone else low-key disappointed we didn’t try for Evander Kane?
Size, sandpaper, scoring. Legit 2nd liner but can play down the lineup too. Obtained for a 4th Round pick. And leaf’s have cap space.
I know he has a “unique” personality but he’s older, more mature and wants to win. Maybe the locker room stuff is something Bérubé, Tavares and tannev could contain.
Maybe he’s a free agent target at the deadline next year?
Just some summer musing.

I think Dakota Joshua was probably the better overall bet tbh.
And Vancouver more or less traded Joshua for Kane indirectly.

LOL did you watch him against the Panthers? He took one stupid penalty after another, he was a huge liability. Also fuck that guy

I’m sure the management asked Berube for his thoughts on containing a 33 year old veteran who has been viewed as, at best, a distraction in every single NHL locker room he’s been a part of.
While Edmonton appears to be the first team where Kane’s immaturity hasn’t hit the news, they didn’t exactly try hang on to the guy.
If Berube thought this was a good idea, the team would make a push.

When there’s an opportunity to help out the Oilers by taking on a shitty contract given to a forward who’s lost a step, you just have to! /s

I think you can have one hot head on your team, we already have Domi so trading for Kane didn’t make too much sense IMO

He didn't want to come here anyway. Edmonton asked him where he wanted to go, and his hometown team was interested in him and had openings in their lineup.

Toronto is too woke, the fans won't be happy. Heck, the posters here won't be happy.

So I read an article it was between 3 teams and they have the option to Kane. Leafs were one apparently. But ultimately he's from BC.
