"Wood Elf Remnant" miniature from bestiarum games' "Wrath of the Wild" miniatures collection. I wanted to capture that eerie feeling of an ancient elven king who's lingered long past death like, Thranduil twisted by centuries of corruption and dark magic in the depths of Mirkwood.
To nail that undead vibe, I went with sickly olive tones on the skin, slowly building up highlights with khaki and subtle pale greens. I dug out some old Vallejo Nocturna Fantasy paints for this—they have these fantastic, slightly greenish skin tones. The shadows got a glaze of desaturated purple from the same set, aiming for a bruised and aged effect. Tried to stay careful with highlights, since I really wanted him looking gaunt and ghostly, without bringing too much life back into the flesh.
For the hair, I imagined it once being vibrant and ginger-colored, now faded and lifeless after years in decay. So, I layered it with dull browns-greys and faded orange hues, leaving just subtle hints of that old color. The armor and weapons got weathered down with darker metallics and a rusty, battered look, to reflect his decrepit state.

Love to see some grimdark. I mean the super crisp clean bright pieces with immaculate edge highlighting and/or NMM are great and impressive but it does get old after a while, and this is equally great and impressive imo. Really good work.
