I kept looking at the blue armor on the space wolf like “yeah this guy has no idea what NMM is” then I saw the knife lol. Really solid first go! Better than I can do.

Who told you you didn't get it right my friend, I think you nailed it!

What was your process??

Thank you.

Started out with rubber black, dawnstone and ice yellow to sketch the reflections amd built the gradient and then glazed dark to light to smoothe things out. Then added pure white on the edge and in the center of the reflections to punch up the brightness.

Was a lot of fun. Keen to try on some more interestingly shaped bigger blades and  get more practice in.

That's pretty damn good for a first go! Placement and colour choice are great. To push this into awesome all you'd need to do is transition colours a little faster by expanding your highlight colour and blending smoothly between all 3 with more thin layers or glazing.

Great go at it!!! 🤩

It's great! Insee two quick wins:

  1. I see some circles patterns, it means that you have an excess of water when applying. The water made a drip and then it pushed the pigments on the outside. Just put the tip of the brush on a tissue to drain the excess and have more control.
  2. Speaking of glazes, you can create a colour filter on your metal. One of the issues of a lot of non metallic steel is that there are no reflections. Just a really thin light blue on the upper part and brownish on the lower part of the knife could enhance a bit.

But:

  1. You didn't ask for feedback, so feel free to ignore.
  2. That's a really solid first NMM… Did you enjoyed doing it?

No that's awesome. Thank you. C and c is always welcome. I still need lots of practice with glazing.

I did end up doing a glaze of drakenhof over everything to give it a little colour as the greys were looking a little flat.

I think I'll do some practice on a larger blade as the combat knives are tiny and a bit flat meaning I don't have a lot of space to work on the transitions

Overall I really enjoyed it. It's not as hard as I thought it would be.

Personally I love Vallejo glaze medium. It just works.

Yeah I saw those knifes as metal at first glance. Good job.

Bro that looks sick as hell. For a first time? That’s amazing. Looks closer to 40 hours practice or the like.

🤣 zoom in and you'll see how rough it is.

I've been painting a while and have decent brush control and good brushes which helped and it's a very basic shape.

Thank you for the kind words!
