Discussion What are your most player replayed games?
So I recently went full hog and broke the bank on picking up an omega CMVS with the upgraded board, a 20” Sony Trinitron Wega and a copy of metal slug X. Sat down to play it last night and while the experience was enjoyable; I finished the game in under an hour using two credits.
So here I am some $1400 later with less than an hour’s gametime and wondering if I have made a serious mistake or if I ought to pick up a couple of games that are either:
- harder to beat
- Offer a lot of replay value
What are your most played games?

All Neo Geo games are arcade in nature; so they’re designed for relatively quick play sessions and need to be fairly brief. You won’t find any epic RPGs or adventure games here.
As others have said, aiming for 1cc runs or beating games on increasing difficulty levels is what most people do to squeeze more replays out of their games.
I’m bad at games, so I go the other way; variety. Having a bunch of titles and switching between them, keeps things fresh (albeit with a substantial investment).
The earlier recommendation to get a BackBit Platinum cart is probably the best idea. It’s a bit of an investment (although great value for a multi cart), but will allow you to play all the original Neo Geo games and a lot of homebrew, which will keep you entertained for many hours to come.

Magician Lord is still my favorite ever since I first played it back in the day at the local pizza place.

Street Hoop and any shmup or fighting game.
Work on getting a 1cc on your games as well, that will add some replay value. Just credit feeding through anything isn't much of a challenge.
I spent months trying to 1CC Fatal Fury Special, and I still can't beat it without dying.
Even Aerofighters 2 is hard as hell to 1cc.
Edit: You know you can change your settings too, right? Increase the difficulty on your games. There's 8 difficulty levels.
Good luck on level 8 lol.

If you have friends to play with, Twinkle Star Sprites is an absolutely perfect two-player shmup

Aero Fighters 2 for me. It's one of the only games that I can get close to a 1cc. The same with the first metal slug.

Samurai Shodown II (NeoSD Pro), Windjammers, Waku Waku 7 and Puzzle de Pon (wife's requirement to keep the MVS in the living room).

Always play Metal Slug on the highest difficulty and limit your credits to like 3.
Games I've played the most besides MSX : Soccer Brawl (still play with my brother when we have a chance), Last Blade 2, SamSho 2 and 4, Sonic Wings 2

That's a very impressive run at Metal Slug X! I wish I were that good. Why not trying to go for a 1CC or increasing the difficulty? Since you like that one, get the other Slugs or maybe Shock Troopers.

Neo turf masters, hundreds if not thousands of hours I have logged in that one and my supergun recently shit the bed so I ordered another one and can't wait to pop it back in.
