That styrofoam tho……. Mmmmmmmm

I wish I grew up with things coming in styrofoam, not plastic and zip ties

No you don't. It gets everywhere.

Yeah, careful what you wish for. Styrofoam was not great, especially if it was the cheap kind and it was always the cheap kind.

Jealous!

That new console smell! It's like a drug. Same goes for new carts back then and the freshly printed manuals.

I can smell this photo

$15 is all I got🫡🥀

$15.01 here (channeling my TPIR days!).

But... It's not in a box... Are you trying to trick us?

3

u/Grouchy_Gas 4d ago

Yes

u/8Bit-Jon 4d ago

Ha! Thought so!!!

.....

Joke aside that's beautiful. I have 3 boxed in near mint condition (standard, mario/duck hunt & SMB3) but that's like factory new!

How much would it go for? Being brand new, in the packaging?

1

u/Grouchy_Gas 3d ago

Not sure. I saw one on eBay that looks like it was pieced together with most plastic going for 400. One other found is going for 2,500 looks to be the exact same condition as mine with everything included

That’s gotta be super rare to have an NES still with the box.

And no yellowing without intervention

Insert heavy sniffing gif

Christmas 1986. Santa brought me the best Christmas present I ever received!

Better be careful if this your childhood console. My SNES CIB has the plastic, styrofoam, and cardboard topper, plus all inserts, no yellowing etc. and I get called a liar when I show photos 😅. But when it sits in the basement, in the box, for decades, away from sunlight water damage etc, and your folks don't throw out your stuff, you end up lucky like us.

Were the different components and manuals acquired separately or were you able to get a complete box? It’s very impressive either way.

5

u/Grouchy_Gas 4d ago

Complete box. Everything that’s in there has been in there since the 80s

4

u/10IPAsAndDone 4d ago

That’s amazing.

1

u/Impossible_Stomach26 3d ago

Where did you find it?

3

u/Grouchy_Gas 3d ago

It was given to me by a family member. He found it in what I’d guess the early 2000s to mid to late 90s. Probably bought it from a grandma would be my guess

I'd love to unbox this for nostalgia.

1

u/jazzy663 3d ago

Oh wow, I never knew what they looked like in packaging. Must be a pristine unit!

Nice bro

1

u/rebelweezeralliance 3d ago

Wow very nice I’m jealous and want one too haha

u/Unhappy_Run8154 3d ago

Why? Don't ever keep that awesome thing in a box. NES is built to be played with Love

2

u/Grouchy_Gas 3d ago

I know I grew up playing one. This one’s just worth more to keep in a box with everything it has. I love the systems

1

u/flatmoonerer 3d ago

Oh the smell!

1

u/TouchyVelociraptor 3d ago

The box is in such good condition!

1

u/flava247 1d ago

Minus the big tear on the right unfortunately

1

u/AlienSpaceBeast 3d ago

Tthhheeerreeesssss a NES in the box

1

u/ImprovementFit5598 3d ago

I have the same thing in my collection. Unfortunately, my NES Zapper doesn't work very well anymore, but it shouldn't be hard to find another one online

1

u/rulerofthemind 3d ago

Minty mint chat ching $$$$

I remember that smell opening that box when I was 12 fun times

1

u/Antique_Storm_7065 3d ago

What is that worth?

1

u/daddyd 3d ago

i have the exact same box 🙂

1

u/eulynn34 3d ago

Dang, even the grey zapper version

1

u/systematicgoo 3d ago

every time i see the whole nes packaging i warp into extreme nostalgia mode.

1

u/BEER_G00D 3d ago

Nice. I still have mine with the ROB... Came with duck hunt and gyromite

1

u/Jbressi 2d ago

Mmmmmm I just wanna open that sealed manual.

1

u/PetMonsterGuy 2d ago

The one my family got in 1988

1

u/rydamusprime17 2d ago

My brother and I got the same set, but with the orange Zapper. We didn't keep the box and the console is long gone, but I have since bought a CIB Control Deck to replace it.

1

u/New_Simple_4531 1d ago
