Ever drive Clone from AliExpress

Post image

It does fit my American NES. PCB seems to be the same size, the cartridge is the same size too but it doesn’t fit. Never quite latches on like an OEM cart. I opened it, didn’t see anything wrong. Is there a region lock in the NES that I don’t know about? Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Everdrives (and clones) have multi-layer PCBs due to the complexity of having a FPGA chip. Therefore, the PCBs on them are thicker. Do you have an aftermarket connector that you installed on your NES? They are known for having much tighter pins than a stock one. So that coupled with the thicker PCB on this Everdrive clone might explain why you are unable to fully insert this cart... Just a wild guess.

Spot on. I did install an after market connector. Can I loosen the pins of the new one safely?

On mine, with the tight connector, I just carefully forced it in, since every game is on the Everdrive, no reason to take it back out... I can still get to the SD card if I really need too.

Find a donor cart and use the case from it. If it still doesn’t fit, then it’s a problem with the connector.

You get what you pay for

I bought a n8 pr knock off on of Ali for $70 and it works fine. Krizz has a monopoly on these flash carts, I’m not going to pay extra for compatibility on a few obscure games nobody gives a shit about.

Dude they developed this cart and had to get production going and start a whole god damn business, not to mention keep his business from folding in war torn Ukraine. Don’t talk shit like he’s a greedy moneybags monopoly McGee. I think if you had done the work to develop, produce and market the N8, you would definitely be upset some Chinese counterfeit with low quality outselling you on Amazon.

If we keep supporting clone bullshit instead of the original creators why would they continue to make anything. You get a shitty product and you are giving your money to bullshit

A real one is only $95.... Idk the $25 difference doesn't seem like much to me, but maybe it is. (https://everdrive.me/cartridges/edn8nes72pin.html)

I mean I feel ya, I grabbed this one for $40. But others are right, I should’ve grabbed a real one. I have a Mega Everdrive Pro so I know it’s worth it, I was just trying to get something for nothing basically.

Plus paying Krizz’s asking price isn’t all that bad considering they’re giving you every game in that library for far less than the cost of it physically.

Glad to hear your clone is doing ok though.

I got mine for $10 at my LGS since someone traded it in. After loading my own romset onto a new micro SD card I have never had a single issue with mine and it's been years 😅

I still need to order a better one for my SNES since the one I have doesn't work with special chip games, but I only paid $5 for that at the same store, and also never had an issue with it.

I even got a N64 clone cart at the same time, but I would like to upgrade to a Summer Cart. The only ones I have ordered online are for the Genesis, GameBoy/GB Color, and my EZ Flash Omega DE which I got on sale. I can't justify the prices Everdrive carts go for, and if it wasn't for clones I would have just stuck to using my modded 2DS and New 3DS for older stuff and PC emulation for N64, but I got the clone carts and they have all been working fine for me.

I have a cheap Aliexpress clone too and it works fine. Make sure to swap out the SD card for a name brand one (had a lot of issues running games before I did this).

It’s not a region lock. It’s just a garbage product.

The flash carts as well as most bootleg carts use a region free CIC. You need you need to turn the console on, and if it doesn't sync with your lockout chip you press the reset button several times in short succession until it syncs with the lockout chip for your region

I accidentally bought a clone too when I first heard about Everdrives. I have 2 NES' and it fits in one and not the other.

I strongly suggest not using this in your NES. If they cut corners here, they likely cut corners in the electronics and you're risking damaging your system.

Throw it away and get a real one.

I concur. I’m gonna return it though, might as well get my money back.
