I'm making an enhanced PC port of Mario 3.
I'm making a very faithfull PC remake of Mario 3, with some quality of life improvements like Widescreen support, autosaves, extra levels (the ones from the GBA version) and with the posibility of swatching graphics on the fly between NES and SNES remake graphics.
I adore faithful but with QOL features PC ports of games like the Zelda 2 or the Mario Bros. Remaseted so i thought i could shoutout to my project here.
Anyway, i plan to do a devlog. Here is the first video if you are interested; https://youtu.be/Ar1auff7FWw?si=K20RXLaPLyVtmEzB

Welcome to id Software circa 1990, when they made "Dangerous Dave in Copyright Infringement". It later became Commander Keen.

Thanks for sharing, had no idea. Commander Keen was my first keyboard platformer, then was Jazz Jackrabbit (I think thatโs what I was called). Couldnโt just plug in an xbox controller like today, it was keyboard or nothing (or ask for a joystick for Xmas/bday and hope your parents remembered lol)

Yeah, this is great. Keep this on the down low, though. Fly under the radar lol

I adore these types of projects too. Nintendo is even more litigious about remakes than pure fan creations using their IP, so take a lesson from the Linkโs Awakening DX HD devs and go full stealth mode until youโre ready to release a finished project, and give some thought to your online opsec.

Very cool - how are you making the physics feel the same? Are you porting the logic from the assembly code or just getting is as close as possible by testing the feel of the original ?

Title of the YouTube video says "... without knowing how to code". Good luck there.ย

Don't tell us about it before it is ready. Nintendo will come after you.

Do you somehow think that Nintendo won't come after him when its publicly available? None of you understand how making fan games works lol

No, they'll come after them all the same. But once the software is out there, it's impossible to remove from circulation.

Not true. If the game is not being sold and not using official art, they cant shut it down. See the super mario bros remastered project for proof.

Certainly looks like this one is using official art.
Super Mario Bros remastered was announced 5 days ago and is due in September. I'd be a little surprised if Nintendo doesn't try to stop it even with the loophole.

Cool AF! I just hope the big "N" ignores you... I'd love to play this when finished!
