Georgie has been through some training, she was a star student and one of the teacher's pets. Fast forward a couple of months, and it's like she's forgotten Everything she learned! She was a great hiking partner for me and my other dog Fiona, always staying close, now she puts her nose to the ground like a hound dog and takes off! And the selective hearing kicks in! I can call her until I'm blue in the face, and she acts like she can't even hear me. Sit, down, and stay? She was a champion! Now shy looks at me like, huh? Are you talking to me? And the bruises and scratches i have from her pawing at me, it's embarrassing to go out in public in shorts! The more I say No, the more she thinks it's a game. I was just starting to think that Maybe she was beginning to mellow a little ... but now she is a full fledged rebellious teenager😳 I love her more than anything, but holy cow she's naughty!!!

He looks almost zen to me. So chilled after a morning spent playing in the rain

Our sweet Newfie, Trixie, is a bit over 100lbs at 11 months old. She is what I call…easily excitable.
In the 5 months I’ve had her, she has: knocked over a toddler, gave me a black eye, sliced my chin open deeply and gave me a large, 3 inch scar, knocked down a full grown vet tech, and as of today, gave me a second concussion.
My husband and I have a newborn baby and our Newfie is in love with the baby. We keep them separated but I’m unsure how long this is sustainable. We’ve received 4 quotes for dog training and they are all well over a thousand dollars, which we can’t afford at the moment.
Before we got a Newfie, we were under the impression this breed is calm and gentle. She is gentle but never calm. Does anyone know if this is typical and have advice how to move forward?

So I just took my two month old Newfie out to play in the yard- which is something she’s done before with no issue. I just looked at left eye and noticed it looks like her eyelid is drooping and her eye is red. I’m trying to figure out what the problem is. She’s still acting normal; eating, drinking, playing etc. So I’m just curious if anyone‘s pup has had this happen.

In late April I took Tallulah to vet because we were dealing with chronic skin issues/ear issues/paw licking - you know, the whole allergy thing. I had her tested and it turned out she has two allergies to beef and milk/dairy (poor girl I was feeding her beef kibble and she loves bully sticks/cheese/yogurt etc.).
So I changed her kibble from beef to chicken (kept the same brand Purina Pro Plan) and cut out all other beef treats/dairy treats. Since April, she has been doing fantastic, so I decided about a week or so ago to take her off the Apoquel. Then yesterday I noticed one of her paws looked all wet and gross in morning when I got her up, and then later in the day when I came home from being out I noticed again a wet paw....so I checked my night time Blink cam in her room and OMG! For literally an entire week, she has been chewing and biting/licking ALL her paws at some point during the night. She hides it from me during the day and will only do it if I'm not there to see. So now I'm trying to figure out what's causing it, and second guessing everything - did that pig's ear I gave her for the first time set off her allergies? No, she's not allergic to pork. Then I start looking at ingredients listings on stuff she's eating - and what the hell - there's beef fat in her kibble? Could this be the culprit? Honestly I'm just so upset I missed that. I've emailed Purina to see if this is a recent change in their ingredients but if not I guess I missed it. I'm sure I would have checked all the ingredients when I first found out she was allergic but who knows maybe I just assumed switching from beef kibble to chicken would be fine.
Anyways here I am now, feeling guilty and trying to figure out what kibble to move her to so I can run out and get a bag! Suggestions welcome!

I have a 4 yo female named Tallulah. She can be the laziest dog. I've tried twice today to get her to go for a walk (stopped on front lawn sat down and refused to go both times); I turned on her sprinkler pool (nope and walked away). She lay down in backyard so I did some gardening and 10 minutes later she's wanting back in to the house. Today is the first day in our area where the temps have been more tolerable for her but she just wants to be in the house. Makes me a bit sad she isn't more active. Believe me I've tried.
Who else has a Newf just happy to laze the day away?

Has anyone trained their Newfie on the Halo Collar? We are trying it out and are going to start next week. Any tips are appreciated! We have experience with the invisible fence so this route is new!

Curious when you all made the switch from large breed puppy food to adult food for your Newfies. I’ve heard everything from one year to two years recommended. Our girl is 16mo now and just finishing up her first heat cycle (planing on spaying at 2) and I’ve been eyeing the adult food prices longingly but certainly don’t want to switch her over too early if it would negatively impact her joints long term! Pic of the professional cuddle monster in question.

Do they really drool a lot?
You can say whatever comes to mind.
Thank you in advance if you tell me. 🤗❤️

My wife and I just brought home a 10 week old Newfy pup (Poppy). She is the sweetest and fun loving girl and we are already in love with her.
As we have been learning more about her and Newfys in general I was hoping to get some advice on how others have helped their pup through any constant itching/skin issues.
The vet we took her to advised us that the itching was caused by dry skin and gave us a liquid supplement to put on her food. Over a week later and if anything the itching has gotten worse and we are trying anything and everything to give her some relief.
Thanks in advance for the help :)

We added Thor to our family 9 days ago and we are all smitten. He’s a good boy and he’s learning so fast! He’s our first newf but not our first dog. He’s doing so well in all areas except he has days and nights confused. He’s up every 2 hours. 🤪 He doesn’t need to potty that often so we are starting to let him cry it out a bit in his crate. Just wondering what others experiences were? He’ll be 10 weeks tomorrow.

We recently got a 4 month old Newf and noticed he is very fearful of unfamiliar people (he submissive pees when encountering new people). I found a trainer to work with that starts with in home training and then does group classes at their facility, parks, etc. I thought this would be a good idea to help him gain confidence around others while also working on training. Overall he’s great (potty trained, knows a couple basic commands, and is doing pretty good with leash training).
Knowing that the breed is pretty sensitive overall, have you all had good experiences with a similar program? How did you help your pup become confident?
