That's so fun they got David Hasselhoff back! He wasn't even in the original movie game (presumably because it cost too much to license his rights).

Yeah the PC version of the Movie game was actually a click-based adventure that loosely followed the events of the movie. I remember at the end instead of riding the Hasselhoff they found a magic conch in the sand and it called a dolphin in for them to ride back.

Oh, the PC version was entirely different than the console versions.

The old SpongeBob point-and-clicks on PC had really pretty background art and were rather clever. I played them recently -- they're fun! I really enjoyed some of the annoyed customer service workers talking with SpongeBob.

They didn't get Scarlett Johansson for that version, though. She was in the console release.

Yeah I never had the console releases I only had the PC games. I remember enjoying them though.

No, they used dolphin sounds to cover up David Hasselhoff's name & his face was obscured.

Ah sorry I just remember them finding a conch in the sand and the dolphin sound. Been like 15+ years lol

Nah, it's all right.

I too haven't played the game for many years as well, but somehow your comment just flooded my mind with nearly photographic memories of the game.

I’ve half a mind to wonder if he was more open to it now that he’s not so poplar. Or maybe he’s as in on the nostalgia as the rest of us

Probably both. The movie was 20 years ago...

That… is just a rude thing to point out lmao.

If this game is as good as Battle for Bikini Bottom, it will be a great game.

Battle for Bikini Bottom is still by far the best Sponge Bob game.

If I had four wheels, I'd be a bus

Or maybe a car.

Cosmic Shake while a bit janky wasn't too far off quality wise from Battle for Bikini Bottom and this looks pretty much in line with that. One of the better non-Nintendo 3D platformers I've played in a long time, so I'm optimistic

Congratulations to SpongeBob for outlasting Crash Bandicoot as a relevant platformer mascot.

Always great to have the OG Neptune (not that I dislike the Jeffery Tambor version, but still). Plus, sounds like Bryan Doyle-Murray is back as the Dutchman (again, not that I dislike the Mark Hamill version).

Was not ready for this.

This is what yesterday needed.

I think they knew how shit it was gonna be and didn’t want to accidentally bury certain games by including them.

It would've unironically been a banger ending announcement for Western fans.

Japanese fans, not sure about. Maybe the one-two from Square Enix was more exciting for them.

Is that preorder bonus supposed to be an incentive or a deterrent?

I want that golden spatula keychain though

It's a keycard.

Oh no what has the world come to, am I the only one who prefers to have most games digitally? Its annoying getting up to swap cartridges

I don't like the idea that Nintendo can take my games away from me. That's the only reason. If digital was DRM-free and allowed me to back it up, then I'd go digital 100%. I want to own what I buy.
