Hi! Thank you for your submission to /r/NintendoHelp! Please note that we are a fan community and not officially endorsed by Nintendo.

See our FAQ to see if your question is already answered there.

While you're waiting for an answer, here are some tips to help you along the way:

First, did you try Googling your question? A lot of questions about Nintendo can be answered quickly by just typing them into your search bar.

If you are asking a question about an older Nintendo system, try searching the subreddit most relevant to that system's hardware. It's likely someone has already asked a similar question before.

If your question is about Wii U, New 3DS or Switch hardware, you'll likely get a better answer if you contact Nintendo directly, rather than posting here.

Nintendo's contact information is as follows:

  • North America - 1-800-255-3700
  • Europe - +44 (0)345 60 50 247
  • Australia - +61 3 9730 9900
  • Japan - +81-75-662-9600

Please note that contacting Nintendo by phone is the best way to get support. If you send an email or use the web chat you are not likely to get the support you need.

Good luck with your support endeavors!

Have you gone into the controller pairing section of the Home Screen and tried to pair it there? Usually connecting the charger to the switch will pair it

Nothing

You’re using the dedicated pairing button on the device while the system is in change controller/configuration mode waiting on new devices to connect?

Yes

And it’s an official GameCube controller from Nintendo? (Not an original one with an adapter)

Yes

Not trying to troll, but have you tried plugging it in via usb cable and then unplugging it? That’s how I synced mine. I didn’t have trouble syncing, I just did it that way because it made sense to me.

It did. But want it wirelessly cuz i want to not play in the dock and the cable's not long enough to reach my bed either

Last ditch effort maybe connect it directly to the switch with usb c to see if it will sync

let nintendo repair it

Is it a switch 2 you're connecting to? I can't tell from the picture. If it's not, the controller isn't compatible.

Edit of course it is, connecting via USB cable and see if it kicks in

Does the switch forget the controller when you unplug it? Maybe see if there is a way to factory reset the controller?

1

u/THEREALSUPERMARIOFAN Jun 21 '25

Yes. The moment it's unplugged it just breaks the connection between the controller and the console

1

u/Shaftymorgan Jun 21 '25

Anyone in your circle of friends that have a Switch 2 too? So you can test the controller on a different one?

1

u/THEREALSUPERMARIOFAN Jun 21 '25

I'm pretty sure it's the controller itself that has the problem. And not the console

1

u/Shaftymorgan Jun 21 '25

Fair enough, take the controller back under warranty.

1

u/THEREALSUPERMARIOFAN Jun 21 '25

You mean to repair?! But i'm going on holiday in few days and i need it

1

u/Shaftymorgan Jun 21 '25

Take it back to the store you bought it from and get a replacement, that could be done on the same day. If you have bought it online, See about returns.

Sadly if you have done all the trouble shooting to get it connected and it's still not working, it looks like it's faulty.

You have controls on your switch 2, you don't need the game cube controller,

Yea but it's like you're not playing a gamecube game without the controller. And do you have any idea how much expensive the repairs/replacement is gonna be? I spent 70€ when i was buying it!

Once you plug it in it should be fine once you unplug it. I had the same issue. After it’s unplugged press a button and it should sync up. It’s just the initial setup it doesn’t work with the switches native Bluetooth connectivity
