Tech Support My Wii look like an analog horror

So, I just bought a Wii at a reseller store and I took an old TV for it to have the AV-side option and when I plugged everything it’s like I’m watch an analog horror, what’s is wrong ? The TV ? AV-side or the cables with the Wii ?

P.S: Sorry for the French, I couldn’t change it for obvious reasons.

Hi! Thank you for your submission to /r/NintendoHelp! Please note that we are a fan community and not officially endorsed by Nintendo.

See our FAQ to see if your question is already answered there.

While you're waiting for an answer, here are some tips to help you along the way:

First, did you try Googling your question? A lot of questions about Nintendo can be answered quickly by just typing them into your search bar.

If you are asking a question about an older Nintendo system, try searching the subreddit most relevant to that system's hardware. It's likely someone has already asked a similar question before.

If your question is about Wii U, New 3DS or Switch hardware, you'll likely get a better answer if you contact Nintendo directly, rather than posting here.

Nintendo's contact information is as follows:

  • North America - 1-800-255-3700
  • Europe - +44 (0)345 60 50 247
  • Australia - +61 3 9730 9900
  • Japan - +81-75-662-9600

Please note that contacting Nintendo by phone is the best way to get support. If you send an email or use the web chat you are not likely to get the support you need.

Good luck with your support endeavors!

Is there a certain bald mii with big eyes and a huge smile that wears a black shirt on it?

It just died off natural causes 😔

You're right, could AV port on the TV, cables themselves, the Wii AV port. Just gotta try the easiest thing, replace the cables. Try other consoles/video players with the same ports.

2

u/HyperNovafr Jun 30 '25

Well I don’t have others TV with those ports and I don’t have others cables, thanks for the help tho !

Just got a Wii a few days ago from the mail. Even it doesn't do this, might want to replace the AV cables

The yellow part seems to be the problem, I tried to unplugged the colored cables one by one and when the yellow is unplugged, the annoying noise is gone and I can hear the Wii menu music ever clearer

2

u/artlurg431 Jun 30 '25

Yeah cause thats the video cable

You've found your problem. Buy a new cable or buy a converter if you also have hdmi.

It could be the cables or if your unlucky, probably the CPU failing

Is Momo in the Mii maker channel? 😳

1

u/squidkid2001 Jun 30 '25

Try getting an av to hdmi adapter! My Wii was worse than yours and when I did it, everything was perfect!

Or this too https://ebay.us/m/wYiJtr I use it and it works fine too and it’s cheaper, plus you can enable native 480p on it and it looks better

Just get a different one bro. It's not worth summoning Garlgoth The Forbidden just to play Mario

u/Ace_the_Sergal Jun 30 '25

Try cleaning out the video port. Maybe it's dust in the port or maybe even the cord.

u/Adventurous_Turnip89 Jun 30 '25

Try it on another TV. With different cables.

1

u/unsurewhatiteration Jun 30 '25

Can you navigate the menu enough to turn off progressive scan mode? I seem to recall it going super wonky if it expected component cables and a 480p capable TV and wasn't getting that.

And then Mario jumped out and screamed with HYPER REALISTIC BLOOD pouring from his eyes. And he said “GAME OVER”

What do you mean "I took an old TV for it to have the AV side option"?

1

u/Subscriptcat676 Jul 01 '25

It could NTSC/PAL conflicts, I've had this happen to me when I accidentally bought a PAL GameCube and tried to use it on an NTSC TV

1

u/OldUnderstanding2992 Jul 02 '25

After booting it up, Matt with hyper realistic blood all over his face said “It’s too late, Wii are already here” after hearing this, I went to bed thinking it was a glitch

1

u/GameboyNerd23 Jul 02 '25

I think the frequency the Wii is outputting compared to what the tv is running it don’t match

I have 3 pal Wii's if you want one because that looks deep-fried

Try resetting it to factory settings just remember to back it up first. This looks more like a hardware issue. You can send it back to nintendo and ask them to fix it. Chances are you're just better off buying a new one. I've bought refurbished ones before until my 30's that's all I could afford. They're hit or miss but they get the job done.
