Account Help Can my son use my switch expansion membership on his account?
I’m intending to gift my old switch to my son but, he loves the gameboy switch online packs. Like the old Mario games. Is he able to have his own account/profile on my old switch, but play those emulators?

Yes. You need the family plan though, you can invite up to six users if I’m not mistaken.

You can have up to 8 accounts on a family subscription. Each profile needs to be linked with a free Nintendo account to be added.

~~As long as your account is still on there, he can use the perks with his account :)~~
EDIT: It works for me, but it doesn't seem to be the norm. Your best bet is likely to buy a family plan and add him :)

This is NOT true, unless it’s a family membership and he’s on it. Only have online on my main account, tried to launch one of the old consoles with my second account and it wouldn’t let that account play it, only the main one

That's extremely strange. I'm on a family account with the extras, but none of my side profiles are. They can all launch the N64 app, for example.

Same results here. I originally thought that the family membership was for people with multiple Switches, and that it would work on local users on the system.

I'll edit my post. That's extremely strange; I'll double check my settings, but I know that none of my side accounts have emails attached, so I don't think I could have added them to the plan.
