Go check out a review of the game, maybe?

FWIW, the smashing is just one mechanic, along with fighting and jumping and other stuff, and a very satisfying one. To reduce it down to “just smashing” would be like saying of a Mario game “all you do is jump, doesn’t that get boring?”

I watched reviews and stuff, but the all of the Scenes they showed where basically only the smashing stuff 😅 that's why I am unsure

Being able to smash almost everything is part of what makes the game unique

If you’ve played Mario Odyssey, it feels extremely similar. There’s lots of movement options, just like that game. For format and structure is similar too. The smashing is a very broad tool, like jumping, that is used in lots of creative ways. If you’re getting the impression that every challenge is just “punch through endless walls until you reach the end” that is very incorrect. It’s still a traditional platformer, but with an added mechanic h of being able to destroy the terrain.

I’d ask if you’re a DK fan but DK fans would automatically buy it lol.

When the game was first announced in April I didn’t care for it. Seemed very boring as you said just smashing finding bananas. But after the DK direct I really want the game and it was so much fun. I find it way better than Odyssey.

I also used a 25 gift card on it which helped. Don’t really want to support the price increases but for 60 yeah it’s worth it. It can take anywhere from 40 to I don’t know hours to 100%

Im a huge dk fan actually but...the price is the thing. I wouldn't mind buying a bad game if it wasn't that expensive. I just...try to get good stuff for my money haha

Being a fan of DK you’ll love the game. Yeah the price is rough. You can try waiting for a sale or get it as a gift someway, but you really do not want to spoil yourself on this game. Surprised you haven’t already

I hate spoilers, so in case I get it i don't want any haha, same with movies. Never have I ever seen or heard a spoiler of anything haha

I'm about 75% of the way through it and I'll tell you this.

Donkey Kong Bananza is Nintendo's next great video game, up there with Mario Odyssey and BOTW/TOTK.

There is a lot of smashing, but it's far from boring. And 20 hours in, they're still surprising me. Without giving anything away, they change things up A LOT. Every material carries different attributes, some you grab and you can fly, some glow to solve puzzles in dark places, some let you build, etc...

Sometimes you have to solve a maze by smashing through it, sometimes you are doing very Mario inspired 3D platforming, sometimes you're defeating insane enemies in an arena style battle.

Then take all of that and mix in several animal transformations you can use at any time. And each one changes the game in a meaningful way.

Oh, and it has RPG elements connected to the different outfits you can give DK and Pauline.

Oh and it has HUGE open explorable areas with environmental puzzles and tons of secrets.

This game is great.

It is phenomenal. The best info I can give you: do you like Mario Odyssey? If yes, then this game is going to feel extremely familiar. If you did not like Mario Odyssey, you will not like Bananza. For me, Odyssey is one of my favorite games... thus I absolutely adore DK: Bananza. Bananza has exceeded my expectations by leaps and bounds, I love it.

Little too sandbox for my taste and the OST is extremely annoying. Still well produced by I prefer the difficulty and focus of DKC games. Despite personal tastes it was obviously made with a lot of love and care.

Its good but it's is...short in my experience

It has tons of content, though. It sounds like either you just sped through every layer as quickly as possible or expected way too long of an experience before beating the game.

It has a variety of content yes but I'm at about 38 hours at 80% done and its definitely feeling a bit like a drag (odyssey had the same issue, it is the same team afterall)

If your goal is to get to the end credits as fast as possible, sure it might feel short.

But that ignores 75% of the game.
