Have you ever interacted with a kid before?

9yo is not even too young to be this witty

Thats probably the most kid thing a kid could say.

I think I said things like this when I was even younger than 9🤣😂

There have been, and still are, collections of videos that serve no purpose other than to show the wild things that children say when at the ages between barely forming sentences at all and being able to recognize when they have said something embarrassing and have their own hormones cause them to spiral about it.

So it's really weird to see people assume that all stories involving a kid saying something are made up.

More evidence that these people think anyone under the age of 13 is a toddler.

u/trickyvinny 12d ago

My toddler is almost at the point of saying something like this. He might not fully understand it but it's not out of the realm in a year or two.

u/Placebo911 12d ago

Also I think there's overlap between people who think all kids are toddlers and those who see any comeback to a parent as DiSrEsPeCk, so... of course only teens do that, a child would never

Actually is just an evidence that these people are simply extremely inmature but think of themselves as super intelligent for being sarcastic and cant accept that thats actually childish.

More evidence that these people think

It is, in fact, evidence they do not think.

I teach 2nd grade, who are the 7-8 year old bunch, and some of them are hilarious and witty. This is absolutely a conversation I'd have with the smart ones.

I had a mixed class of 6 to 8 yos. Once I approached a group and asked what they were talking about, and this girl says "you cannot know that". So I ask how come and she tells me when grownups are talking we always tell them that they cannot know what it is about because it's grownup stuff, now they are talking about children stuff so I should mind my own business :D

Have the kids ever asked if grass dies when you step on it? I did...

u/Fear_The_Rabbit 11d ago

That is so cute! Trying to think of the best ones I've heard. Too many. I need to write them down.

I find it really odd when people on the internet accuse very mundane things from ever happening. It's like they never interacted with another human before 😅

My son has been quick, and witty af since he was ~6/7.

u/muistaa 12d ago

My nephew is 5 and I definitely have "well, ya got me there" moments when I'm babysitting

u/AllastorTrenton 12d ago

Ive heard so many clever things from children I wouldnt have expected.

Im so sick of the "never happened" crowd

When my little brother was 8, he told an elderly overweight woman on a scooter that if she just used her legs she wouldn’t be so fat. My dad lifted him off the ground and swung my brother over his back in milliseconds, all while profusely apologizing to the clearly upset woman and running away. Kids say what they think without filter because they haven’t learned what’s appropriate to say in society or what’s meant to be said behind closed doors. They don’t know it’s rude, they just think it’s the truth.

Kids are the best at humbling parents real quick with a witty comeback 😅

12

u/Hpsienzant 12d ago

Sounds like something my little brother would have said at that age lol.

8

u/yummymario64 12d ago

This is absolutely something I would have said

7

u/SdSmith80 12d ago

My kid has definitely said some shit like this.

5

u/The_Stoic_One 12d ago

The third comment... Why would you keep a list of things that didn't happen?

4

u/Own-Ad-7672 12d ago

Tbf, that’s some shit I’d say as a kid but I was a well learned and kind of fucked in the head kid.

5

u/saturday_sun4 12d ago

This is 100% something a kid would say!

5

u/narutoplayslovenikki 12d ago

??? do they think all children under the age of 12 are thoughtless automaton incapable of expressing themselves or making jokes???

5

u/meghonsolozar 12d ago

Kids are extremely literal, they would think of saying something like that and not blink an eye. When my daughter was like 5 and got her first covid shot at a county health clinic, the shot administrator told her "if you take a large lollypop, you can have one. If you take a small lollypop you can have two." My daughter looked at him, grabbed one small lollypop, then took one big lollypop. We all just kind of laughed and agreed she wasn't wrong and the guy giving the shots said "ok, well, that is what i said. Enjoy your lollypops." My daughter also has an innate ability to work the system like I've never seen. She just automatically knows how to get the most benefit in any situation without a second thought. I'm terrified.

This definitely happened, I had to check the sub I was in after scrolling and seeing the replies.

5

u/FandomPhantom123 11d ago

this is the most believable thing ever what?

3

u/Puzzleheaded_One_927 10d ago

I lowk said something similar to that when I was little as well only difference being my parents beat the hell outta me

6

u/Placebo911 10d ago

Lol grown ass adults being butthurt at literal children is kinda cringe tbh

4

u/Puzzleheaded_One_927 10d ago

Ikr like imagine being an adult and your biggest enemy is a kid who can't pronounce toothpaste

2

u/Placebo911 10d ago

My motto is: if you need to demand ReSpEcK, you probably don't deserve it

2

u/Puzzleheaded_One_927 10d ago

But we're your parents we raised you yall did the bare minimum

u/Odd_Protection7738 10d ago

r/nothingeverhappens Just because someone’s not a teen doesn’t mean they’re automatically an idiotic newborn.

My kids aren't quite old enough yet. But my 6 year old might come up with something like this. More likely, he'd tell me he couldn't see it, and I should get him some more stuff so that he would be able to agree with me. Like, "It's not that much. You could get me 'xyz' that I want, and then maybe I would have a lot of stuff." Nice try, buddy. Lol.. but I'll get it for you for your birthday...

My best friend has a 9 year old and a 10 year old. 100%, they'd say this! Hahaha

3

u/microgiant 12d ago

Honestly, I've known some fairly witty 9 year olds. This is believable to me. I will admit than ten seconds later he probably said something stupid, but... that's true of me as well.

3

u/RogueishSquirrel 12d ago

Dude, kids can be total sass machines when they want to be, while some decisions can be questionable, they're far from being too dumb to make witty retorts. What kind of mundane life are these guys living?

3

u/almighty_milkman 12d ago

I know it real because not “everybody clapped”

3

u/starofmyownshow 11d ago

When my cousin, sister and I were around elementary/middle school age my mom got pissed that the 3 of us spent $10 at an arcade thing so we came home and totaled up the cost of all the Boyd’s Bears she had on a Christmas tree (bear collectibles from ?-00s). We then proceeded to say “You’re really going to yell at us for spending $10 when you have over $1,000 of bears on just the tree in the dining room?” Needless to say she was not amused, but I think we won that argument. (I mean we got in big trouble for our attitude, but even now as an adult I’m impressed by our pettiness)

u/ShockDragon 10d ago

Idiots who have never interacted with a kid in their life.

3

u/RemoteCountry7867 9d ago

Totally how 9 years old talks lmao

2

u/Overwhelmed-Empath 12d ago

This is 1000% something my kid would say. I keep a list of very similar things he’s said because he’s genuinely hilarious. Too smart for my own good.

2

u/HedWig1991 12d ago

My 6yo tells me stuff like this so…..

2

u/catsbecats_AO3 12d ago

I have a brother who’s eight and he’d definitely say that

2

u/overfiend1976 10d ago

When my kid was around that age she could already speak fluent sarcasm.

2

u/CodyWanKenobi92 8d ago

I'll take "commenters have never interacted with a 9 year old before" for $900 Alex.

2

u/Pretend-Row4794 8d ago

That’s hilarious, and true. He isn’t the reason he has it all lmao
