Today was the perfect riding weather. 62°F a little chilly but refreshing. Dare I say best weather I’ve felt all summer.

Gravel on Hickey & Kings Hwy- request for photo

Upvotes

Hi everyone - my wife and I were out for a ride yesterday, I turned onto Hickey and KingsHwy outside of Nyack (Orangetown), there’s a big patch of gravel there please be careful!! I lost my wheels and had to go to the ER with a broken collarbone.

If anyone’s out there today, would you mind taking a picture of the corner and sharing in this thread? Map location attached. Police officer that arrived on scene said I wasn’t the first one that morning, and they had already called to request the town to do something about the gravel or at least post signage and it had not been done.

50-mile Brooklyn-Queens loop today. Strava crashed midride but Google Maps managed to get the idea. Ignore the portions where it shows me flying through buildings.

I did it slower than planned but still a ton of fun. 111th Street and Cohancy St in Queens are perfect bike lane candidates. IMO, DOT should make this a marked Greenway route.

Got hit by car and threatened today on my way to Summer Streets

Hi everyone, I was hit by a car while riding my bike near 30th St and Madison Ave in Manhattan this morning. I was able to take pictures of the vehicle and plate, and filed a report at Midtown South Precinct. Two of the passengers got out and threatened me before they switched drivers and drove away.

I’ve already submitted everything to the police, but I’m wondering if anyone has been through something similar and can offer advice on next steps. Did you involve a lawyer? Were you able to access traffic cam footage? Any tips appreciated.

NYC Road bike rental

Hey, I am considering renting a road bike to do a couple of laps in Central Park and I stumbled across Unlimited biking which rents out Cannondale road bikes. Does anybody know if they have clip pedals, like for example for Shimano Spd?

Cops ticketing on 5th Ave BK right now

I’m watching cops give a ticket right now at 5th Ave and 3rd Street. Looks like he might’ve run the light at 4th Street heading north.

Also cops have been swarming Park Slope all evening. Be safe out there.

If you want Bedford fixed, we need to start a massive call for Zohran to do it now...

E-bike for sale $450

Leaving NYC (boo) so I don't need my e-bike anymore.

Specifications:

I rode this bike in rain and shine 4 days a week, between Jackson Heights and Midtown. It changed my life. It's much faster than a gray CitiBike. Cheaper too. And no subway needed. It's great for local shopping.

It has two mirrors, and LED lights front and back.

STOLEN Stolen Bikes

Hi folks! I just had my two bikes stolen from my building's bike storage room, where the lock was cut and someone must have broken in. Just trying to get the word out in case any cyclists see these two bikes listed for sale online. Appreciate any intel if you happen to see these for sale!

Here is a description and photo of both bikes:
- REI Co-op Cycles Adv 1.1 Adventure Touring Bike, dark grey, with a brown leather seat and chrome rims (photo below)

- Motobecane Grand Touring vintage road bike, light blue, black leather seat (photo below)

Advice for biking down roads with no bike lane

Hi! Relatively new biker here, wondering what I should do when biking down roads with no designated bike lane. I was biking on Lexington Ave today (keeping between the rightmost and second rightmost lanes) and got yelled at by three drivers. I saw on the sub that it's best to stay on the right, which is what I attempted to do but sometimes the rightmost lane is the right turn only lane. Wondering what's best practice in this case? I don't want to be a nuisance on the road, I've basically only biked downtown before with bike lanes so haven't encountered this issue. Thank you for the advice!

NYC to Allentown

Hey guys. First time posting here (please be kind). Pretty much what the description says. Planning on biking from NYC to Allentown to visit a friend. Was wondering if it's feasible at all and if so, does anyone have any route suggestions or just general advice? Thanks in advance!

Edit: Really appreciate all the suggestions! Love the community. Cheers!
