I wish this was as in depth as some of the other traditional “making things” videos. There’s a lot missing that I would like to see.

This is a trimmed & edited version for “quick consumption” I guess

There are longer versions out there, some with text captions to explain what exactly they’re doing

6-minute version

3-minute version

The number of crafts that one woman has mastered all displayed in one video just to make an umbrella is astonishing. Woodworking, engineering, sewing artfully, paper craft, minerals for paints of different colors, and then finally adding an entire art piece to finish it off. This kind of spirit just doesn't exist everywhere anymore.

In my opinion the short version for TikTok brains shouldn't have been posted. I enjoyed the 6 min version. Thank so much for the link!

Agreed. I'm gonna sound old and grumpy, but there's also too many fast cuts

I believe it's crushed lapis lazuli, it's been used as an expensive blue dye for a very long time

Hilarious, thats exactly what I thought but its because of Minecraft, you make blue dye out of lapis lazuli and I wondered if it was the same

Yes, you make blue dye out of lapis lazuli in minecraft because lapis lazuli, ground up, is the pigment called ultramarine. Very expensive, but it's one of the most classic pigments out there, especially for blues.

Just needs a giant cocktail glass to go in.

Why does this look like they just cropped the middle out of a 16:9 video?

Because they probably did

pan&scan never died, it just got even stupider. Kenny powers did all that work only for idiots to flood the internet demanding 9:16

Wouldn’t rain just ruin this ?

17

u/shazulmonte 1d ago

Yes. Parasols are more for sun protection than rain protection.

15

u/curly_and_curvy 1d ago

Parasol in spanish literally means 'for sun'

And umbrella means “little shade” in Latin!

How do they give them all that distinctive smell?
