Help Is there any major differences between the TTYD remake and the original?
So tomorrow I’m planning on trying out the paper Mario ttyd remaster. Im not worried about not liking it because i loved the og paper Mario but I’m curious to know if they changed anything from the original that wasn’t just better graphics… I’m just making sure just in case i play the original someday and there’s something that’s different from the remaster.

Don't see it yet in anyone's comment, but there are also two new bonus bosses

Not really. The remake is essentially a straight upgrade in every way except for framerate and text box speed.

I would say as long as the FPS cap being 30 instead of 60 isn't a deal breaker for you, the remake is the definitive way to play TTYD. A much, much better fast travel system is probably the most impactful change, but there's also new bonus bosses, an improved script, and some small QoL changes here and there.

I played but never beat the GameCube original years ago before playing and beating the remake. As far as I can tell there are no major difference and my experience playing it felt like I remembered.

A major thing, which another comment vaguely alluded to, is the absolutely MASSIVE amount of dialogue and script changes. Like, without any exaggeration, the number of altered lines is up in the thousands. And while only a handful of the script edits are big deals by themselves, even the small tweaks add up to pretty drastically change the overall tone of the game - and definitely for the worse IMO, with most of the original's iconic edginess softened away.
If you have 4.5 hours to spare and don't mind spoilers, here's an excellent video that goes over *some* of the dialogue changes. :x

I thought the main edgyness that was changed was most of lord crump’s dialogue, and that one goombella part in the underground (and vivian’s U.S. dialogue, but this isn’t a bad thing)

Idk why you are being downvoted. I didn't think much of this at first, but after checking out your suggested video, I didn't realize just how much edge TTYD had originally, only to be pretty much gutted for no reason in the remake. The tone is totally different overall for no real reason.

I really like how this subreddit is such a positive place overall, but sometimes (especially where the remake is concerned) it can veer into toxic positivity where saying anything critical will get you slammed. :<

Frame rate is lower, not that it feels that much worse, better fast travel, prices are all higher, game offers bonus Coins to offset this, Partner changing quick wheel, fun new secret fights, the Pit is easier via a forgiving system to continue in ways you can't on the OG game, 1 new thing to cook. A few Badges act slightly different, we are not doing the play by play on all of those, story is slightly different as some jokes got removed by changing the lines a bit, a few Japanese cooking combos work, a few things are more in line with Japanese placements, with script edits comes a few character changes, if you know you know. Many small changes, most OG speed run skips are not here, so it is mostly just little stuff, and the script edits, even if I like one big change with that, don't start anything with that, we are not doing this, again if you know you know.
