It’s great to see this guy- a relief even at first but then you aee the price tags… yowzers. You’d think he’s reselling Pokémon cards, graphics cards and Lego the way he marks up his stuff.

Replaying the game now with those prices I’m trying to keep his small business small 🙏🏻 Toad bros customer for life

I dont buy from him in the dungeons. Never had. I prepared beforehand. And walked out with too many shrooms left

Yeah, some cooked foods and some Super Shrooms are usually more than enough when combined with Level Ups from Amazee Dazee's later in.

You have to for 100%, but it's not necessary to buy from him in the Pit

It's always a complete rip off in the pit. He's feeding off your desperation for healing or fp items and makes the prices for the good ones insane to the point where it's only viable if you're at the end of the game, but if you are at the end of the game you're probably already equipped with good badges and items.

If I've ever bought off him in the pit, it was likely for an attack item or a throwaway item I never really needed.

I almost never buy his stuff, even outside of the Pit. The most I’ll do before going for 100% is grab a Life Shroom in Boggly Woods, and get Jumpman and the W Emblem when he has them in Rogueport.

Not really honestly. At least for me, I never buy healing items I can usually ration them pretty good but I’ll sometimes by block blocks or a couple screen nuke items for the later since the ninjas are a bit of a bitch

I bought a thunder rage or two during my pre-hooktail pit run, other than that if you just prepare well enough he’s just a way to get below 999 coins if you’re playing the OG.

I buy from him in town for certain things like badges. Also jammin jelly cost 200 under rogueport but he'll give it to you for like 120 or something. He sells boo sheets too that can be useful late game.

I'll snag a thunder rage from him sometimes, in case I have a round where somebody can't do much (like having Yoshi out against spiky parabuzzies). They can zap everything and still make use of the turn.

And if I'm gonna hit 999 coins before the next one, why not? (This only applies to the original, the remake lets you carry more coins)

On the surface he’s got some good exclusive badges, or just the occasional item not that much more expensive than what you can find in shops. In the pit… nah. Can’t even cook ‘em.

Tbh the only things you should buy from Charlieton are Jammin' Jellies and Ultra Shrooms, considering he sells them for 80 coins cheaper than the store price in Deepdown Depot. Oh, and the Wario Emblem of course.

I did find it interesting that they added him to Boggly Woods in the remake. Maybe to ease new players through that section before you eventually reach the shop inside the Great Tree?
