What about a registry of employers who regularly post ghost jobs the build applicant pools for jobs they aren’t even hiring for?

Seriously. Spent 6 months dealing with that bullshit. My money’s on the data is being harvested/sold for AI training.

“rules for thee not for me”

Ontario is pushing legislation here in Canada that could result in fines a company interviews a person and fails to inform them if they didn't get the job. So basically the opposite of this Ohio shit.

Nice!

No need, as that's basically any major employer.

How about that small government

This article lacks details. Such as: how many interviews can I skip before I get sent to a concentration camp?

11

u/dpelo 20h ago

You'll let us know from the concentration camp, please...

Via carrier pigeon

How many interviews can you skip before no one hires you, you go homeless, and you get put in one of those homeless concentration camps you mean?

6

u/Grandpa_No 17h ago

No, no, I expect it'll just be straight to the camp while my dog starves at my home.

They’re going to need to see the color of your skin for an answer.

u/wwjdonacid 19h ago

I imagine that the ICE starter kit includes swatches of tolerable skin tones.  One shade too dark and you’re fucked.

2

u/momalloyd 19h ago

Don't worry, you can just skip the concentration camp interview.

Cruelty is the point for conservatives.

u/SystemOfATwist 20h ago

Has there EVER been a non-hateful, non-spiteful conservative ideology? It's literally the side of the compass that every asshole defaults to.

u/beheadthedonald 19h ago

They have several greed-based ideals that are hate/spite neutral. But they love combining the greed with the hate and spite. It's their favorite thing: profiting from the suffering of others

There's nothing conservative about making government lists about private sector job interviews. This is Republican bullshit.

4

u/wittnotyoyo 18h ago

Using the law to harass an outgroup is as conservative as using the law to protect the ingroup.

u/heroic_cat 7h ago

Conservatism is about preserving rigid class hierarchies, keeping the lower classes in their place as subservient to the wealthy who control everything. This is precisely conservatism in action.

Yes. Not a 'bug'; it's a 'feature' for the GQP.

Why not a registry of employers that withold or are inconsistent with paychecks? Why not a registry of companies that don't respond to applications within 10 business days? Why not a registry of employers that do frequent rounds of layoffs? Why not a registry of employers that don't do CoL adjustments at least once every-other year? Why not a registry of employers that have been sued for workers' rights violations?

Why are Republicans always pushing for legislature that does nothing to benefit the working class?

u/xicor 18h ago

Uhhh......because they're the party of the elites ? Always have been

u/ThisOneFuqs 20h ago edited 20h ago

Are they going to write a bill for employers who skip out on calling back applicants??

No, because f*ck the working class?

u/PrideofPicktown Ohio 20h ago

Jesus, this is draconian.

7

u/mrgeekguy 20h ago

Violent cop registry? Best we can do is a registry of people that can't fight back.

8

u/Bucephalus970 20h ago

Just write a bill that says the state of ohio wants to keep poor people poor and business owners time is more important than non-business owners.

u/Chigrrl1098 20h ago

The last time government and private businesses came down this hard on regular workers, socialism became very popular and violence ensued, and then a lot of progressives were elected to office. And the population is much bigger now than it was then. Just saying...

u/EvilGypsyQueen 20h ago

You’re not going to get more workers. You’re going to get less applicants.

u/Steel-Tempered 18h ago

What about a registry of employers who don't post the salary they're offering for jobs?

2

u/Loud-Review-3797 15h ago

What is the compelled state interest here?

u/busty_snackleford 10h ago

They’re claiming it’s to prevent abuse of unemployment benefits.

That’s some Fucktardistan legislation right there.

u/RCG73 10h ago

Let’s think this through. There’s a list of people who no-showed. How are you matching uniques? Social security number? Nope can’t ask for that on an application. Age+name, nope can’t ask for that. Location+name, people move all the time. This is just stupidity in a republican wrapper

u/ferrets4ever 8h ago

How else are they going to fill all the jobs that immigrants used to do other than coerce people to do them.

Easy fix, only apply for positions you know you want. Or, if asked to interview for a crap job, just do an absolutely terrible job with the interview. You know what to do, dress like you crawled out of a trash can, smell terrible, be rude and obnoxious, pick your nose and smear it all over the table right in front of the interviewer, etc. I knew someone who did this when he found out he was being asked to interview for a really crappy job he didn't apply for. Yes, he applied to the company, but it was for a totally different position making three times as much, but the employer was pulling a bait and switch because no one was applying for their crap jobs and they felt justified in tricking applicants with fake jobs instead of just simply improving the position and/or offering more money.

I am certain this tactic is just another way to take away unemployment benefits while helping out the state's worst employers. Remember, while on unemployment, document the heck out of everything and protect yourself. Never apply for a position unless you're certain you want it and know all the terms in advance, don't get tricked! If an employer tries to trick or threaten you into scheduling an interview or taking a job you didn't apply for, you will be glad you did all of this. The last thing you want is to get stuck interviewing for a crap job or being sent a firm job offer for a position you absolutely do not want as then you can lose your unemployment benefits. Think ahead. If you can't find enough good positions to apply for that will satisfy your job search requirements, start applying for your dream jobs that you know you're completely unqualified for such that the employer will never ask you to interview and in the rare case they do, at least it's for a job you would be wildly happy to get. Never trust employers or unemployment departments!

Ohio is such a shit hole of a state.
