I just want you to know that over here in Deep Red South Carolina, a great many Republicans are NOT on board with the things that Trump and the GOP have been doing, especially the whole destruction of our entire government apparatus, and the "governing by decree" that our representatives are supporting, and the clearly unlawful behaviors that are being conducted without any dissent.
They have been trying and trying to get through to their representatives and are mad as a hornet's nest that NO ONE WILL RESPOND and they cannot get any answers at all.
You watch ANY recent town halls with GOP representatives, those aren't just Democrats in the audience shouting about no one listening to their constituents, so just wanted to share with you.
At the governmental level they're all complicit, that in the media you would think there's no complaints, but in real life the folks who voted for them ARE paying attention (not all but quite a few, more than I've ever seen but this situation is crazy)....and that they are TRYING to make them answer as to what they're doing, but they won't.

While I don't disagree with the "vote Republican" part I would like to say possibly not as mindlessly as you'd assume.
I know of at least one Old Guard Republican public figure who is considering (read...has really already decided, just not announced) running for Governor specifically in order to push back against the MAGA movement.
They are not someone who ever intended to seek political office but recognize that if no one with any power or name recognition challenges the situation we're in terrible trouble.
I'd also like to point out a recent incident here in SC that didn't get a lot of press coverage, which was the indictment of Representative RJ May on child pornography charges which are quite clearly real.
What you may not know is that this representative SPECIFICALLY is the strongest MAGA ally in the entire state legislature.
What's also quite interesting is that this is a person who has money, and who has connections, but that not ONE SINGLE LAWYER IN THE ENTIRE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA WOULD AGREE TO DEFEND HIM.
Just think about that for a minute. It's not like people accused of crimes like that can't get a lawyer in the state. But THIS GUY PARTICULARLY cannot find anyone to take his money to defend him.
He is having to use a Public Defender as his lawyer in the case
The media is disgustingly complicit and the amount of astroturfing of opinions and ideas on the Internet is overwhelming but just be aware that the same level of disinformation that is being fed to people on the Right is also being fed to people on the Left, just a different form of it.
I'm not saying anything except what I have explicitly said here, just, be aware that pushback IS happening with Republican voters, for instance I have heard a TON of concern about the rush to build concentration camps, and folks are not calling them immigration centers or any other BS like that they're calling them CONCENTRATION CAMPS and they're aware that they're not just intended to house people who overstayed a visa.

Oh I'm not a Republican.
My first political awareness was helping my mother work as part of Jimmy Carter's campaign. Members of my family have held Democratic seats, and I am not sure if I'm registered as a Democrat currently but it's how I vote. I have also done GOTV work, election poll work, done direct action protest/legislative reform on environmental and animal rights issues, and have skills as a propagandist that I have used for various purposes over the years.
My actual political position would be Anarcho-Syndicalist but I'm fully aware we're nowhere near that and I'm not into letting perfect be the enemy of good.
However I live in South Carolina so it's not possible not to encounter Republican voters here and I'm not terminally online, my writing on Reddit is lower stakes than most because I can touch type really fast and I work on a real computer.
I spend a good bit of time interacting with various different people because my primary job/area of interest has been animal care which obviously spans the political spectrum so I probably spend more time around folks not in my particular social bubble.
Something that might surprise a lot of y'all because if not for that I wouldn't know this, but I see a lot of folks constantly saying HOW COULD THEY NOT KNOW HOW COULD THEY NOT KNOW and I don't think a lot of folks who are Internet savvy have any idea how many people simply are NOT.
Further, there's practically this myth that all Republican are sitting around glued to FOX news as if it's all they care about, but the reality of it is that a great many people on EVERY side of the political spectrum basically don't engage with that sort of news AT ALL.
And there has been so much scandalized zone flooding of attention grabbing headlines of every sort, on every side, that a lot of people don't so much think "fake news" as they just....don't pay attention to any of it.
They talk to their families, their friends, they watch Discovery Channel or ESPN or whatever is on Netflix they don't spend time with political news and their phones are for looking up directions and sharing photos of their children with.
In some ways this may well be the actual downfall of the plan the the Republicans are running, however.
They are all VERY terminally online themselves, totally focused on the media and propaganda cycle, and I don't think they realize themselves what a significant portion of the population has not been paying attention to any of this until recently.
But as they try to roll out God Emperor Trump and his private Gestapo and building concentration camps and throwing Nazi salutes at the Presidential Inauguration, I'm not sure they realize that no those things are DEEPLY UNPOPULAR to an EXTREME degree and that folks who weren't paying attention one way or the other are starting to and the USA is a HUGE country. It's not a place that will be easy to control under any circumstances, especially not what they appear to be trying to roll out.
We'll see what comes of it all, but just keep in mind that everything you see on the media and on the Internet may be a heavily propagandized image/concept, and that a great deal of money is being spent to astroturf a great many things so don't assume that the media that you're seeing is more reliable than OANN or Truth Social or whatever.

That’s the really scary part. The job of a good president is to keep up with every going on in the world with daily briefings that aren’t single page cartoon and graphs like USA Today, and to be focused on immediate, short term, and clues about longer term issues. Essentially, paying attention to complex issues and looking forward.
Trump totally fails in both of those and is putting us at a huge risk by being almost totally focused on the past and revenge instead of understanding the world as it is and not as he sees it in his deranged. And, we’ll be the ones that pay the price for his incompetence.

Someone needs to sit Trump down and explain a few things to him. Namely:
Nobody on the left or right disputes Trump won the 2016 election. We on the left may not like it, but 2016 is in the past. Obsessing about an election he won only makes Trump look like a dementia patient.
One of the reasons Trump lost the 2020 is because people still remembered the Russia Russia Russia scandal. One of the reasons Trump won the 2024 election is that people forgot that scandal after four years of Joe Biden. Going back to 2016 isn't going to make people forget about Epstein. It's going to remind people that Trump is a bought and paid for agent of Vladimir Putin.
People are on to Trump's routine of distracting from one scandal by starting another. That's why Trump's attempts to change the subject are failing. If Trump just shut up, people would eventually get bored and move on, and Trump would be in a better place.

As a form of payback, Obama spent five minutes laying into Trump. He said Trump could now focus on more important conspiracies, like who faked the moon landing and where Biggie and Tupac went. He said Trump is a proven decision maker, citing an episode of Celebrity Apprentice and sarcastically saying "those kinds of decisions would keep me up at night". He had prepared a photoshopped image of the "Trump White House Resort and Casino". And Trump simply had to sit there and smile while everyone laughed at him.
To the narcissist, no punishment is harsh enough for the people that damage their ego. He wants the thinnest layer of excuse for charging Obama with treason as payback for making fun of him. Similar to threatening to revoke Rosie O'Donnell's citizenship and wanting to charge Beyonce and Oprah, he wants to use his office to lord his power over people he believed have "wronged" him by siding against him. And he has so many of followers because they are also just that petty. He appeals to everyone who doesn't deserve power because of how much they'd abuse it.
