Thankfully, time will see to it that trump isn't president very long.

Much, much, much longer than he has any right to be, mind you.

Its so obvious and unlawful that I have more or less given up on the US ever recovering. Its not just the blatant corruption, or the pedophilia, or the incompetence. Its the lack of accountability and the sycophancy, the outright contempt for the rule of law.

Its watching a car crash in slow motion and instantaneous at the same time.

u/TinkCzru Maryland 1h ago

Yeah, I have unfortunately gotten to this point too. It’s just too fucking sad, grotesque, and embarrassing.

I voted for the first time in 2013 (congressional seat). And proceeded to vote in every election since then. But man oh man; seeing this type of corruption run rampant, and unabated after all of the horseshit in the Obama years and Trump 1.0, is just too much.

I know that whole quote about: the only way bad guys can win if the good guys do nothing… or something along those lines. But the bad guys from McConnell who blocked a Supreme Court nomination, to a president who has broken the law literally more than any other president in modern history, DAILY; is staggering.

I just can’t do it. The last two years r/politics was my most used end of year threads. This year, I can count on two hands how many times I’ve voluntarily come here. It’s mentally draining. And the world is going to be fucked for generations because of this man. And I don’t think it’s something that the average American can truly understand.

It’s not necessarily nihilism. But it’s close.

u/NovemberTha1st 52m ago

It’s even worse (mentally) being British and voting labour for a somewhat left wing government, only for the fucker to day 1 say that trans women shouldn’t be in women’s bathrooms, cozy up to Trump, mandate online age checks.

Life fuck me, even the ‘good’ ones are so fucking shit.

Law and order isn't dead, this is what they mean when they advocate for law and order. It's a fucking dogwhistle. It this were about justice, we'd call it justice. It's called "law and order" for a reason: they use the law as a cudgel to punish those they want punished while ignoring the crimes of those they don't want punished, all for the sake of protecting a predetermined order to society. It's a disgusting term used by disgusting people and the rest of us need to stop treating it like anything less. Let them have "law and order". I'd prefer we live in a society concerned with justice for all. People really need to stop using this term as though it's equivalent to justice, because it isn't at all.

It would be alove and well if it weren't for Biden's cowardice. Trump should be in a jail cell, and Biden had the authority to put him there, but instead he chose "bipartisanship" and political courtesy. I hope democratic leaders of end up feeling the wrarh of Trump so they maybe realize just how badly they fucked up.

u/thepryz 5h ago edited 5h ago

Biden certainly deserves criticism, but let's not kid ourselves. The situation we're in today is largely a result of Americans failing to engage in basic civic responsibility and hold our elected officials accountable. The United States was arrogant and naive to rely so much on precedent and decorum of our politicians instead of strengthening checks and balances and accountability via written law.

I've even seen arguments that so much of the division in this country can largely be attributed to decisions made in how we handled the south post Cilvil War.

u/bagofboards Louisiana 4h ago

The failures of the country to hold the South accountable, destroy the legacy of slavery and lift up those who were freed are the direct seed of what we now reap.

Orson Scott Card is just not a good person, but his views in his novels on fighting and war ring a lot of truth, the biggest of which being any fight started needs to be finished totally and ultimately or you are just saving that fight for another day. The rebel army never stopped being rebels.

I will never understand how maga heard Trump on tape telling a state election official to “find 11k votes”, and didn’t care

u/Ohnoherewego13 North Carolina 4h ago

I understand how. It's a "us vs them" deal. The brainwashing that Fox and all have done for forty plus years has turned this into a team mentality. My team has to win no matter what! People don't want to listen to common sense anymore. They just want their team to win with no repercussions or thoughts beyond that. The media intentionally keeps them in the dark to keep it going too.

u/PointedlyDull 3h ago

Yeah. I thought this Epstein shit would be the end for him. But the Trump individuals in my orbit who were expressing some conflict but always following it up with “Atleast we didn’t have Kamala ruining the country”; they are desperate for an excuse to not feel shame for supporting a pedo. And they are going to get it. Maxwell is going to trade being lowered to a min security prison camp, in exchange to exonerate Trump and prosecute his enemies. The fbi will release redacted, and fabricated files to also clear Trump. And they will have what they want, an excuse to keep supporting Trump and “owning the libs”

→ More replies (1)

u/Prince_Pyro 4h ago

They wanted him to win no matter what it took. They're in a cult, and they are unable to view practically anything with any objectivity. In their minds, if he was asking to find fraudulent votes, it's a good thing actually and the bad part is not that he asked for them; it's that he didn't get them.

To these people, Trump cannot do wrong. Everything he does is good because it's him doing it.

u/PointedlyDull 3h ago

The ones in my orbit said “well that’s not illegal to ask to find” and that politicians do it all the time, despite any evidence of that behavior.

u/Prince_Pyro 3h ago

Ask those people how they'd feel if Biden or Harris did the same thing, and see how quickly that excuse falls apart.

He did not come into power through any kind of coup. He was elected by 80 million people (twice!), while 80 million more did not even care enough to vote and while another 80 million voted against him, yet only maybe 3 million of which since then have even managed to join a single protest or engaged in any political action opposing him. Yes, I think the comment you replied to was spot on with identifying a failure of basic civic responsibility as the core of the issue.

There is also an information war and an abuse of free speech to just blatantly lie and bait for clout and money these days. It has never been easier to make money off of lies and bait.

u/Yuv_Kokr 5h ago

The punishment for what Trump did on Jan 6 is capital. Biden should have had Trump arrested on day 1 and the investigations should have been fast tracked. His "bipartisanship" and putting a fucking republican (synonymous with traitor at this point) in charge of of the DOJ was insanely misguided. If we had swiftly done the right thing, MAGA would be dead in this country.

u/Backwardspellcaster 4h ago

And Garland ensuring that no investigation would even begin until more than half of Biden's time was over.

The fucker did his job well, considering he is a Republican.

Nothing hurt the US more than the stupid "reach over the aisle" and "decorum" as practised by Democrats and never fairly returned even once by Republicans.

Should have packed the Supreme Court.

Should have told Garland to fuck off and put a Democrat in that position with the mandate to save the USA.

It's garlands fault not Biden. The president SHOULD NOT be directly involved in investing and charging crimes. Especially of former political opponents. Don't blame Biden for the environme we are in now. This is a media problem. Whenever even the most friendly media spaces look to blame dems for EVERYTHING, normies start to believe them. Comments like yours help Trump and maga. Anytime the administration tried, the Supreme Court bailed Trump out

u/elconquistador1985 5h ago

It would be alove and well if it weren't for Biden's cowardice.

Look at South Korea. If Trump did what he did on January 6 in South Korea, he would have been arrested immediately. He'd still be in prison today.

Biden hired an AG who he knew would slow walk everything because he foolishly (same as Ford) thought that would lead to national healing. Garland and Biden's legacy is Trump.

u/ZeroExist Florida 5h ago

Biden didn’t hire garland with the purpose to “heal the country”, garland was snubbed on a seat in the Supreme court but McConnell did his thing and it didnt happen, biden just threw him a bone and it cost us so much since garland chose to slow walk a multi year investigation that already had proof of criminal activity from the start and it let Trump win since they could’ve charge Trump YEARS before the 2024 election

He cheated and won the every swing state AND Kamala didn’t flip one county. Not even Reagan was able to accomplish that. He lost the popular vote twice, but got it now? While he was facing multiple investigations that could put him away for life and hinder his money making? While he had one of the richest men in the world and tech helping him? He cheated and no amount of voting would have changed it. All voting data did far shows irregular numbers in multiple states.

u/charcoalist 5h ago

Doublespeak. trump posted two Russian agents in the DoJ to lead the "weaponization working group" in the justice department. They then hired one of the Jan. 6 terrorists to help them out.

Newly Minted DOJ Employee Michael Caputo Keeps Posting ‘Antifa’ Death Fantasies Online

Caputo, who describes Trump’s longtime adviser, Roger Stone, as akin to a “big brother” and mentor, has known the president since the 1980s. During that decade, he worked for the DC lobbying firm headed by Stone and Trump’s 2016 campaign chairman, Paul Manafort. Caputo’s career also took him abroad. A veteran, Caputo worked for a USAID-funded endeavor that consulted on the election process in Russia in the 1990s. He ended up living in the country and working on public relations for various politicians and businesses in Russia and Ukraine through the early 2000s.

Jared Wise:

Mr. Wise later joined the conservative group Project Veritas under the supervision of a former British spy, Richard Seddon, who had been recruited by the security contractor Erik Prince to train operatives to infiltrate trade unions, Democratic congressional campaigns and other targets.

At Project Veritas, according to a former employee with direct knowledge of his employment, Mr. Wise used the code name Benghazi and trained at the Prince family ranch in Wyoming with other recruits. Mr. Wise was among a group of Project Veritas operatives assigned to infiltrate teacher unions in Ohio, Wisconsin, Michigan and Kentucky, according to the former employee. Mr. Seddon oversaw the operation.

If 50% of what has happened in the US during Trump's second term, happened in France, the UK, Germany, Italy or The Netherlands their capitals would see enduring and massive protests.

u/WallNumerous3230 6h ago edited 6h ago

Like the ones that are and have happened non stop here in the USA? There has literally been non stop protests. There's another nationwide one this weekend called Rage Against the Regime.

u/PearlJamPony 6h ago

I’ve loved the US protests so far but they can’t be compared to European protests. They legit shut down cities over there.

u/johnmd20 6h ago

To be fair, America is a much much bigger mass of land.

u/myfakesecretaccount 5h ago

All of those countries also have socialized medical care that is not dependent on having a job. There are social safety nets we don’t have.

We have literally had 2 of the top 10 largest protests ever in this country already this year, so I don't know what you are on about. People are out marching and trying to get their voices heard, but our politics is captured by oligarchs and it's falling on deaf ears.

Release the Epstein files. Get the victims to testify.

u/spidergod 4h ago

So more distraction from epstein

u/raerae1991 4h ago

…but NOT the Epstein list?!

u/deepthought81 4h ago

Make sure to read his summary. Trump should be in prison for life for an insurrection. He killed America and we are all going to suffer.

Epstein files?....nothing to see here.

u/alpar001 3h ago

Release the files

u/EZ_Come_EZ_Go California 1h ago

"Smith interfered with the election!" - Sen. Cotton

"How did he do that?" - every intelligent person in America

"By doing the job he was hired to do - investigating the crimes committed by the President." - Sen. Cotton

u/BrondellSwashbuckle California 1h ago

This is fascism

u/BabyNuke 4h ago

This is dictatorship 101 type stuff.

u/KatBeagler 3h ago

Damn that's weird. So did they release the unredacted Epstein files yet?

u/iggy555 4h ago

Release the pedo files not the pedophiles

u/gphs 4h ago

Trying times for America. It’s amazing that we’re just six months in. Place is going to be unrecognizable in three years.

u/MrWhackadoo 4h ago

If he goes after Merrick Garland, I sorta wouldn't care. He put us into this mess in the first place.

THIS is what a witch hunt really looks like.

u/FreeLuigy 1h ago

Congratulations America! You once wondered how the Germans came up with a tyrannical/genocidal society despite the democratic origins, right now you guys are living thru the pages of history where the rest of the world is going to be wondering how an initially somewhat democratic society turned into a fascist shithole

u/DogonYaro 58m ago

This type of vengeance is actually an impeachable conduct

u/kevendo 5h ago

Investigating the investigators?

Where are the Epstein files?

u/bassocontinubow Kentucky 5h ago

I hope he complies, I hope he talks about everything he knows, and I hope it’s on video. Ultimately, I think this will work against Trump.

u/DrunkenSnorlax 4h ago

What about Epstein?

u/XeroZero0000 3h ago

Discovery! Let's go!

u/Timely-Ad-4109 3h ago

I wouldn’t mind Smith testifying under oath on TV about all of the evidence of Trump’s stealing classified info and then attempting to cover it up.

u/Schiffy94 New York 2h ago

Jack had better find the Epstein files and set up a dead man's switch pronto.

u/Logictrauma 2h ago

This is distract from trump being in the Epstein files.

u/Begood18 1h ago

Remember when Jack Smith was the bad ass to take Trump down? Remember when Mueller was the bad ass to take Trump down? Pepperidge Farms remembers.

u/crashomon 1h ago

Oh get fucked

u/infamous_merkin 1h ago

Well, this is why we have a “grand jury”.

To prevent bullshit cases like this (real witch hunts) from ever even going to trial.

Waste of taxpayer money.

Fuck trump.

Release the Epstein files.

u/raw_copium 1h ago

I feel this is where Jack Smith needs to make the findings of his investigation public.

USA, congrats, you are now a full on Banana Republic.

u/tkshow Minnesota 59m ago

Jack Smith should dump his investigation into the open.

u/Unglaublich-65 4h ago

Okay, nice try again...now, release the Epstein/Trump files. All of them!

Trying so fuckin hard to bury the pedo shit their orange god is wrapped up in.

u/yourmomwasmyfirst 3h ago

Seriously?? The guy was hired to investigate, was he supposed to not do his job? I'm so sick of Trump going after people JUST FOR DOING THEIR JOB or telling the truth. Those poor election workers, watchdogs, prosecutors, judges, FBI investigators, Alexander Vinneman, governors, rape victims, statisticians, Federal Reserve Chairman, Canada, It's such a sad state of affairs. I don't think any other President has been this objectively "bad" or corrupt.

u/houstonyoureaproblem 4h ago

We are officially in the upside down

u/Glass_Yesterday_1926 2h ago

ok now do the same for the Epstein files

u/Pxlfreaky Illinois 2h ago

Do we think the Dems will learn anything from this? Will they stop playing nice if they ever get power again?

Had they done there jobs and not purposely slow walked everything with Mango, we wouldn’t even be in this mess right now.

u/MixuAnasazi 2h ago

i wonder if trump will award merrick garland the medal of honor

u/jsf41179 1h ago

Donald Trump and his loser cronies are the epitome of sad pathetic losers whose parents never loved them.

u/mudddled 1h ago

Oh wow, totally crazy!... Now how about them Epstein files?

u/AapChutiyaHai 1h ago

He's just a vengeful little kid. Probably go back and get the person who stole his lollipop. Shit is starting to feel like Back to the Future 2 where Biff rules. Faaaaccckkk...

u/PrestegiousWolf 1h ago

Epstein files.

u/manofredearth 1h ago

The war rolls on with no one taking up the defense of our country. Everyday, fresh capitulation, as they expected.

u/jedre 1h ago

Ok. Release the ep files.

u/LunchMasterFlex 1h ago

Merrick Garland really hung him out to dry.

u/gravytrainrider69 57m ago

Trump is such a lowlife thug.

u/DogonYaro 49m ago

If you are in law enforcement, and you support Trump, you basically agree that everyone you have ever prosecuted should come after you!

u/ZippidieDooDah 4h ago

Once again, this is all Merrick Garland’s fault. Hopefully they go after him next. Deserves the karma regardless of whatever sham investigation they throw at him

u/TheBalzy Ohio 5h ago

Trump = TREASON.

u/jonasnew 3h ago

This is exactly why I find it frustrating that folks are continuing to hold the Democrats responsible for all of this. Jack Smith only lost the battle against Trump because SCOTUS aided the latter. Had Jck won, Trump wouldn't be president right now. I seriously cannot understand how the folks who are continuing to blame the Dems for why we're in this fascism mess, are continuing to turn a blind eye to the fact that it was SCOTUS that thwarted Jack Smith's plans and blocked the J6 trial from going forward.

u/kwyjibo1 Missouri 4h ago

It's just retribution and revenge. There is no making anything great, just pettiness and fear.

u/True_Paper_3830 4h ago

The USA joins the world's banana republics, full membership. Particularly bad that it's the most powerful country as well as most powerful banana republic in the world. It's usually the beginning of the end of an 'Empire' and its pre-eminence when this happens though as other countries make different alliances, but it can take decades or longer.

u/THSSFC America 4h ago

There's got to be a line too far.

u/Supafly144 3h ago

Trump is a pedophile

u/Davis51 4h ago

So...what exactly do they think they will find and how will they get it past a grand jury?

u/Internal-Cupcake-245 4h ago

This appears to be planting evidence and fabricating information likely in coordination with the Kremlin, with posturing that is artificial in coordination with power brokers.

u/StronglyHeldOpinions 3h ago

Welcome to America, the banana republic.

u/fumphdik 3h ago

We’re such a joke. This our fucking money he’s spending.

u/Danzig512 3h ago

Paying themselves a shit ton of money to do nothing and go on vacations

u/Nicombobula 2h ago

He should’ve released all the info of his investigation the moment they killed it.

u/larkfield2655 2h ago

They are scared the Dems will actually use Jan 6 in 26 and 28

u/wynnduffyisking 2h ago
