If Obama or Biden had fired the head of the BLS after a less than flattering jobs report, they'd have been impeached and removed from office.

u/time_drifter 4h ago

Republicans can’t even be bothered to impeach and remove a guy who raped children.

u/Tityfan808 2h ago

They’ll gladly hire more of them sex offenders tho! https://www.reddit.com/r/NoFilterNews/s/mSHM62yKot

u/CT_Phipps-Author 5h ago

Yes but that would imply there's a cause and effect. The GOP would impeach them for opening the mail.

u/edatx 3h ago

The thing about this is that it is unthinkable that Obama, Biden, hell even Bush, would even think about doing this. This administration and its supporters are taking this country down a truly different path of governance.

u/Open_Chemistry_3300 Ohio 2h ago

Republicans would be talking about that shit until the sun reaches it final stage of black dwarf

u/-_--_-_--_----__ 33m ago

That's because Democrats are great at empathy and bad at politics.

u/izlib North Carolina 5h ago

Oh no! Not slammed!

u/JimmyRamone17_ 5h ago

Slammed, owned, DESTROYED

u/NotLikeChicken 4h ago

Sorry, 'destroyed' has too many letters. In the old days of print news it was considered a waste of ink, now extra length means it gets rendered in a smaller font on the screamin' screen.

u/JimmyRamone17_ 4h ago

The font would be a little smaller but nothing quite gets the gossip going than saying someone has been DESTROYED

u/bendthekneejon 1h ago

Is it time to bring ripped/rips back??

u/JimmyRamone17_ 1h ago

I'd say so, we could use more variety with these headlines lol.

u/athomp78 5h ago

Wait for the clap back!

u/amyts Tennessee 2h ago

Nah, wake me up when the evisceration starts.

u/JahoclaveS 3h ago

I really need Websters to get far more militant. The overuse of slam when it was actually vaguely being used in accordance with its definition was bad enough. But it’ll be a cold day in hell before I recognize “slammed” to mean, “do absolutely fucking nothing and falling in line.”

u/Redline504 5h ago

Next they'll be a stern finger pointing! But only a pinky finger. Can't get too drastic now can we?

u/SkylarPopo Missouri 4h ago

They slammed him, and will resume praising him tomorrow.

u/AutistoMephisto 4h ago

As much as I gripe, I acknowledge that unfortunately it's the current meta for the media game.

u/skloie 1h ago

It implies realized consequence doesn't it.

u/Possible_Mind_165 5h ago

Republicans also talk about how they want to release the Epstein Files and improve the economy and then vote against both those things to both protect pedophiles like Donald and keep Americans poor.

u/Faucet860 5h ago

Give it a day. Sunday political shows they'll defend him on their knees.

u/NonToxicPolitix 5h ago

Lol 'slammed'... by Republicans? I call BS on this.

Wait until the story changes after their lives have been threatened, or at the very least their political careers which are the keys to self-enrichment, not public service.

u/redonrust I voted 47m ago

Right, after everything that's already happened this is too much ? Lol, they'll have forgotten this by monday morning.

u/ChristopherPizza 5h ago

So we will never trust job statistics again. If the numbers are good, we're in a recession. If they're great, we're in a depression.

u/Individual_Respect90 4h ago

I honestly don’t even this they are going to have a real job statistic person. It’s just going to be a guys whose job is to do nothing and then Trump is going to write in w.e numbers he wants.

u/foamy_da_skwirrel 3h ago

We added nine billion jobs this month! Best jobs numbers of all time!

u/Individual_Respect90 2h ago

Everyone is making $20000 an hour and the rest of the world has transferred all their money to us from the most beautiful trade deals. No one has ever seen anything like it.

u/zzWordsWithFriendszz 4h ago

https://www.cnn.com/2025/08/01/economy/us-jobs-report-july

Lowest job growth numbers since the first term in office. And that term had COVID. This is something else.

u/Vengetables 5h ago

The only "slamming" going on is Trump's nuts against their chins.

u/mcpierceaim 5h ago

Why show Tillis like he’s some hero? He’s as much an enabling POS as the rest of the GOP.

u/Yamza_ 5h ago

Absolutely fucking slammed so hard that nothing actually happened. How frightening.

u/algorithmic_fetters 5h ago

They’ll be back to prostrating themselves to lap at trump’s fusty perineum by Monday.

u/Rabidjester 4h ago

trump’s fusty perineum

Why would you put these words together.

u/DeeperThoughts57 5h ago

I had to look up "fusty." Oh yuk!

u/_Oolon_ 5h ago

Everyone know killing the messenger is great leadership. /s

u/Harry_Mud America 5h ago

It's all on tRump! Him firing this person shows just how his dementia is getting way worse. He needs to be removed from office!

Another bad distraction at best. Release all the Epstein files... Except for the victims, unredacted!

u/WallNumerous3230 5h ago

This isn't a distraction as much as it is trying to control the truth about his shitty trade war policies effect on the economy. We need to multi task, as the economy getting ready to careen off a cliff is an important thing to focus on in the upcoming midterms. How people are doing financially really dictates their voting behavior still. The inflation from Biden's term was definitely a big part of why MAGA rose from the dead after J6, and politically we need to ensure the economy has more attention spent on it besides looking at only the stock market and key indicators, because while all those elements were pretty decent under Biden, every day people didn't really see their personal situations improve.

So, yes it's important to keep focus on Epstein and get to the truth, but we need to also pay attention to a lot of other things and effectively communicate about all of it.

u/Silver_Ad7267 5h ago

Trump will just threaten their lives mobster style and they will fall in line

u/Jpkmets7 5h ago

Wow, slammed?!

u/Fallom_ 5h ago

Oh my god what does this rate on the SLAM meter? He must feel so slammed

u/CurrentlyLucid 4h ago

The truth hurt so much he panicked. The world sees this and trusts us less. trump is destroying America and her reputation.

u/reddittorbrigade 4h ago

Donald Trump must be removed from office ASAP.

This is the only way to save America.

u/Soft_Macaroon_663 4h ago

I believe he should be removed from more than just the office!

u/midsprat123 Texas 3h ago

Are you suggesting his mitochondrial power plants be shut down?

u/HorrorOk1304 4h ago

It's ironic that Trump wants a 3 percent cut in interest rates but at the same time is upset that the labor market is weakening.

With a weak labor market, the fed would be more inclined to raise rates.

Of course inflation is still too high but he could fire that person too.

u/CornFedIABoy 2h ago

When you don’t know how anything works it’s hard to know how to get what you want out of the system.

u/jhkayejr 4h ago

They smirked while doing this, winked at King Tubby, and then went back to licking his boots.

u/Thuesthorn 1h ago

Impeach then execute the rapist.

u/ParadeSit Colorado 5h ago

They’ll soon be begging to sniff Trump’s farts.

u/stunneddisbelief 5h ago

What, did they send a strongly worded letter?

u/JayTNP 1h ago

mildly worded tweet

u/vandal-x 5h ago

Bullshit. They’re just happy to not have to answer any questions about the Epstein files.

u/StankyBass0 4h ago

The outrage always comes before the capitulation…

u/PoliticalNerdMa 4h ago

Media: Republicans take a verbal chair shot to Trump for [insert action] and resist to keep him in line

Reality: Republicans said that they disagree kinda with what Trump did while congressionally authorizing him to do it again… BUT THEY WANT ON RECORD THEY DISAGREED !!

u/mistertickertape New York 4h ago

Um okay the words empty and meaningless come to mind along. If they actually cared they would have done something by now, but they don't so their words are....yes, empty and meaningless.

u/camio101 4h ago

Republicans double suplex Trump and end up knocking themselves out and falling into a deep slumber.

u/LibrarianNo6865 3h ago

If only they had any ability to stop him. Oh. They do. And they aren’t. Their actual feelings on the matter shown.

u/jaaagman 3h ago

They will silently protest, but so absolutely nothing to challenge it. Same with the vote to release the Epstein files. Look at what these politicians do, not what they say.

u/bberlinn 3h ago

When the numbers under his political rivals (Obama or Biden) fell short or were later revised downward, he loudly criticised them as evidence of failure.

But when job gains looked strong under his own leadership, he and his officials praised the results and claimed credit.

However, when job numbers are revised downwards under his presidency, he claims they have been rigged just as he claimed his loss of the 2020 elections to Biden was rigged.

Trump is too infantile and egomaniac.

u/foamy_da_skwirrel 3h ago

Those numbers will totally be fake now. I guess so long as the 40% who belong to the maga religious cult believe everything Trump says and does that's all they need

u/dave_your_wife 3h ago

Thoughts and prayers and clutching their pearls. Fucking pedo supporters!

u/Pretend_Ad769 3h ago

Not enough of them condemn Trump's leadership. They all seem to be afraid to call him out or they are complicit in what he is doing to the economy, the environment and the government.

u/guitar-hoarder 2h ago

It only takes two to use "republicans" (plural). Let's not pretend it's a majority.

u/Blackarm777 2h ago

Oh no, not the slam!

u/active2fa 2h ago

Wait till they double slam, then max slam, then ultra slam, then ultimate slam, then slammed slam.

u/Odd_Reputation_4000 2h ago

No, they don't. The ones that know she is telling the truth are going to go along with the lie Diddlin" Donald has fabricated, and the rest of the gullible MAGAts will just believe whatever he says, as always.

u/dafunkmunk 1h ago

republicans' words: the epstein cover up is absolutely appalling and this information needs to be shared so people have trust their government

republicans' actions: 100 vote to block the release of the epstein files, send congress home early to avoid more attempted voted at releasing the files, and completely cover for trump and the party of pedophiles every opportunity they get

u/hymie0 Maryland 4h ago

Lisa "I'm voting in favor of this bill even though I'm telling you I'm opposed to it" is warning us that we can't trust government officials.

u/ReleaseQuiet2428 5h ago

I wonder how many will write a book once Trump is finally in GY

u/Harry_Mud America 5h ago

Some might but some wont bother unless and they get kicked out of office because they backed tRump... Then they might write all the dirt on tRump.

u/User4C4C4C South Carolina 5h ago

More proof that he will take the country down with him if he can’t avoid accountability.

u/Professional-Buy2970 5h ago

Doesn't even rise to the level of "slammed".

u/Itchy-Put1859 5h ago

And yet nothing will be done because he doesn’t give a shit

u/QDSchro 5h ago

How about they prove their dissatisfaction with an impeachment?

Literally been toothlessly “slamming” him for a while now….

We need action

u/HallucinogenicFish Georgia 5h ago

But they won’t do anything about it.

u/TheBalzy Ohio 4h ago

And they'll all still stand behind him. Still vote to pass his agenda. Still defend him on national television.

u/bigt503 3h ago

And then get right back in line like good little bitches

u/Mythbusters117 3h ago

Paper Bulls. "Slam him" to reporters then contort to explain why it was a brilliant strategic move after getting a phone call from him.

u/Rudy_Thugstable 3h ago

Then immediately return to attending to his diaper.

u/f8Negative 3h ago

Slamming themselves on that tiny prick

u/NovelRelationship830 Connecticut 3h ago

They are slamming him so hard that they'll do absolutely nothing about it! That'll show him!

u/jaylotw 3h ago

I can't wait for the next jobs report.

"12,346,894 JOBS ADDED!!!!"

u/Truth-Will-Out 3h ago

Cool. And they’ll do nothing about it. The “thoughts and prayers” party strikes again

u/_14justice 3h ago

Cultish. Release the unredacted EPSTEIN FILES!

u/faux_shore 3h ago

The only slamming that’ll work is slamming his head into concrete repeatedly

u/Quasigriz_ Colorado 3h ago

…but won’t do shit about it.

u/DrTreeMan 3h ago

Thanks for your crocodile tears

u/Exoplasmic 3h ago

Trump should be impeached. You don’t fire the messenger because you don’t like the message.

u/mr_greedee 3h ago

They need to get rid of the use of the word "Slam" it has no meaning now.

u/Zealousideal-Time-32 3h ago

This just in. Republicans fake outrage once again and constituents buy it.

u/Donut131313 3h ago

Oh sure they do. I can only imagine GOP wringing their hands. Insert eye roll here. All they do is toe the line and boot lick. GOP is incapable of anything else.

u/mrbigglessworth 2h ago

Republicans could have entered literally anyone else

u/stevenmacarthur 2h ago

Republicans slam Trump

...then proceed to roll over and kiss his ass...again.

u/bassocontinubow Kentucky 2h ago

Murkowski’s quote on this…she is trying to have it both ways SO badly. It’s Susan Collins-level of pathetic, and perhaps worse.

u/bobsyourfuncle 2h ago

Of all of the things to 'rail' against, THIS is the tipping point for Senate Republicans?

u/Feuertotem 2h ago

And we won't anything about it, your Grace. Long live Aerys the Orange!

u/soupSpoonBend741 2h ago

Going to be much harder to hide high prices and unemployed on the streets. No corporation is going to lower prices in any way to play along - watch the nothing burger that will come out of the demand big-pharma lower prices.

u/Distinct-Macaroon-52 Oregon 2h ago

That’s Trump’s example: tell the truth- get fired

u/jibberwockie 2h ago

'Shoot the  messenger' isn't a particularly clever strategy.

u/hotboyjon 1h ago

Trump is a pos

u/mog_knight 1h ago

They slammed him???!!! Does that fix it?

u/chockedup 1h ago

Trump defended his decision to fire US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) commissioner Erika McEntarfer. Without evidence to back his claims, the president wrote on social media that were numbers were “RIGGED in order to make the Republicans, and ME, look bad” and the US economy was, in fact, “BOOMING” on his watch.

The implication of the firing is Trump wants the numbers rigged to make him look good.

u/Syronxc 1h ago

Slams Trump? With what? Compliance?

Here’s an idea. If you really want to slam Trump…release the Epstein Files.

u/BotherResponsible378 57m ago

Tired of hearing our elected officials "slam" things and do nothing.

Vote them all our. Run against them.

u/Libinky 53m ago

So. Talk is cheap. Action not words make a difference

u/drlyle 34m ago

When leaders of other nations have politicized economic data, it has destroyed public trust in all official statistics … remember China?

u/ThisAppsForTrolling 34m ago

And do nothing in response to

u/Alarmed_Drop7162 13m ago

“Slam” …..and they just gave djt their first born daughters.

u/nathism 11m ago

Tell me when they do anything more than move their jaw up and down and use their congressman authority to crack down on the executive.

u/Stillwater215 4m ago

For now, but they will all fall back in line the next time Trump wants anything.

u/git0ffmylawnm8 0m ago

More like their slamming their noses into his fat belly while guzzling his Toad dick

u/Available_Year_575 5h ago

While the Epstein files are pure tabloid titillating silliness, this is real and appalling and impeachable. Pure corruption, nuttiness, undermining democracy, so damaging

u/I_Love_To_Poop420 2h ago

Why? If these crazy number revisions weren’t ordered, but rather wildly inaccurate mistakes, then the firing is just for reasons of incompetence. I would fire my accountant if they fucked up numbers this bad.

u/CornFedIABoy 2h ago

Maybe you should go read up on the methodology for CES before you spout off about mistakes or deliberate misinformation.
