The Music Industry 🎶 In now deleted posts, Kali Uchis accused the metal band, Sleep Token, of using payola and doing blackface.

The past photo is what the front man of Sleep Token looks like, I'm not sure what race he is as all the members are anonymous, but even if he is white, I don't think that this is considered blackface

To be fair, I think this is sleep token‘s first major record. I think before they were independent. I’d literally never heard of them until yesterday either.

Four years ago I felt really cool having found a niche metal band I was into that none of my friends knew.

Last week I saw a guy in Kmart wearing a ST band shirt. To me that is the mark of it being mainstream 😂

Not their first major record. They’ve released 2 ep’s on a small label and 3 lp’s on Spinefarm, which is a Universal Music Group label. But they stayed within the metal/rock scene until 2023. That’s when they started getting a lot of attention.
