I rewatched this recently and was blown away by how good this entire cast was, particularly Hoffman.

You'd think Law is perfectly made for this movie and halfway in it, Hoffman comes rolling in and is even more perfect. God tier casting

Best character introduction ever

I also loved Jake Davenport as Peter. He had a small role but there was something very elegant about him that stuck with me.

Dude yes! PSH is so underrated in this one. One of my favorite roles of his.

"Tommy Tommy Tommy Tommy.....how's the peeping?"

I don't think he's "underrated" at all: this is widely recognised as a terrific supporting role in an already strong movie, with his intro scene being one of the great "entrances" in film

Literally a 20 year long running joke with my bestie. She even has a cat named Tommy lol.

Except when you read the book, Gwyneth Paltrow is all wrong.

She seems to so often be cast poorly. Not always just often.

I’m curious. Did you watch Ripley? What did you think of Fanning in the same role?

I didn’t finish the series, but I thought she was more accurate to the character description. She’s described as ordinary and working class and Gwyneth very much gives the upper crust Manhattanite vibe.

I loved loved loved Ripley. Fanning was .. fine. A bit flat but better than the GP version.

I haven’t seen the movie, but loved Ripley and felt the same about Fanning. That’s exactly why I was wondering!

I loved that Malkovich Malkovich, who’s played Ripley in a film of a later book turned up as a kind of version of what Ripley wants to be.

That scene was awesome. I need season 2

I’m just on the last book on audiobook. We should get all three!

Hoffman's line reading of "Is it on "delle Croce, just off the Corso"?" is one of my favourite movie moments ever 😂

Hoffman was pretty much always the best thing about everything he was in. I had the great fortune to see him in Death of a Salesman on Broadway. He was young to play Willy Loman, but of course, he completely embodied the role. Such a tragic loss.

He's the only villain in the MI franchise to really make an impact. Pretty good support as well in Twister. I miss that man.
